Here comes the Hobbit movie

Any word on Hugo Weaving? He was a pretty convincing Elrond.

I agree that Bob Hoskins wouldn't be bad, but maybe someone a little younger. I'll bet Gary Oldman would love a shot at it!

For Beorn, someone really, really large. For Bard, how about Guy Pearce? And for the Elven King, Gabrial Burn or Anthony Hopkins.
For the earlier gollum?
For Thorin Oakenshield?

Are you kidding me? The charm of the Hobbit is that it is a children's story. It is written like a fairy tale--Once upon a time and Happily Ever After and all that.

Then you didnt read the same story I did. Its not a childrens story at all, and its popularity came from college and university age folks engrossed by the story.

Its far too detailed and dark to be a childrens story.

Well I'm definitely pumped for this? But WTH is Peter Jackson doing as producer?! My god man get back to the director chair!

Bilbo wasn't his father.

Maybe that could be the twist at the end of the first film.

Bilbio - Frodo, I AM your father!
Frodo - DO NOT WANT!!!!!

*Steven zips up his trousers after pissing all over two classics at once*

What other projects does Peter Jackson have on atm? Maybe he doesn't want to do ANOTHER LOTR film after taking a large chunk out of his life to do the first 3. Remember, Empire Strikes Back was done as Lucas as producer, and that turned out ok

The Battle of Five Armies is supposed to be pretty epic, at least on the scale as the Battle for Gondor.
I agree with this. Also, how much of the history will the movie go into? The Hobbit only really hinted at the history (history of the dwarves of Durin's race, and Thorin, Thrain and Thor in particular; the history of Dale, and Bard's descent from its rulers); most of that only really came out in later editions of The Lord Of The Rings, in the appendices. And how will it show Beorn?

Plus, it will have Smaug.

I could play Beorn. 2.5 meters is tall enough, right?
