Herman Cain is schizophrenic?

Herman Cain has demonstrated Romney-itis is contagious. He appears to have a bad case of it.

More likely, he just has no idea what he talks about most of the time, and is just a parrot of some talking points.

This another reason I don't support Herman Cain. I will not make an abortion debate out of this topic, but Herman Cain has to make a choice. If he's against abortion, just flat out say it should be prohibited. End of story.

It's a youbtube video of a clip from one of Herman Cain's interviews.

Does someone need to explain to this guy what "Personally pro-life but politically pro-choice" means? Or does someone need to prescribe him some lithium?

The only thing unusual about that is that he's running for the Republican nomination for president :dunno:

@Aimee: It isn't anything bad. Just a Fox news guy with a 80's porn moustache asking questions to a guy who can't tell if he should emulate Ron "Ideologicaly pure but never serious candidate" Paul or Mitt "All over the board but only serious candidate" Romney.

He sure does have a way with words. Just does not seem to be the good or sensible kind of way.

Herman Cain babbles like an idiot about how important it is to protect every life from conception, but the government shouldn't make that choice if a woman wants to abort. One of the hosts actually looks at him with head tilted and jaw dropped

I don't really like watching videos because I can't understand peoples speech a lot of times.

Sounds like a typical politician thing to do. Talk out of both sides of your mouth and try to have it both ways.

Cain isn't a slick used car salesman like the others so he comes across worse.

It means he doesn't want the uterus to be state owned, but he wants to retain the ability to be all shamey and disapprovey and judgey of those sluts and their wanton abortiony ways.

In other words he's apparently a douchey liberal college dude?

You could have just used "flip-flopper" rather than schizophrenic, which would be a genuinely terrifying condition for a presidential candidate.

Aside from the thread title, Cain seems to try to go the route of "personally against all types of abortion", while not making it government policy, even though he'd also be against people having the right to choose.

Being personally pro-life but political pro-choice isn't a schizophrenic decision -- it's perfectly possible, and even reasonable, to separate the morality of a decision from a desire to have the government use the force of law to enforce your morality on others.

The problem is that Herman Cain can't seem to express his views clearly at all. He says it's a woman's choice if she has an abortion, but abortion shouldn't be legal. I'm really not sure what he's saying at all. But that seems to be well in line with his "method" of debating in general, which is to say repeating contradictory, illogical statements that sound kinda good but don't really make sense.

The way the OP was worded, yeah, it sounds like it's unreasonably criticizing a common and understandable position as "schizophrenic"

But if you didn't watch the clip - in the clip Cain was definitely rather confused and making some gaffes.

Flip Flopper tends to involve saying one thing, and then later, at another time, saying something to the opposite effect.
This man is attempting to flip and flop in the same statement.
"People should not be free to abort" but "the government should not be involved."

[Should a woman be able to terminate a pregnancy?]
"That's her choice, that is not government's choice."
...
"So abortion should be legal?"
"No abortion should not be legal."

Actually, the most intelligible position I can get out of this is that he supports vigilantism to prevent abortion.

If someone wants to write a comic about Batman going around and inspecting women's uteruses, I would totally buy a copy.

Well, I guess that would answer the question of whether he's pro-choice or pro-life...

Yeah I totally missed that part, and I also missed the part where he said people who want abortions should have the choice to break the law for personal morality reasons.
