how can you be 1/16 cherokee? did you have 16 dads and one of them was cherokee but your mam never found out who the father was?

my great great grandmother was cherokee. Since everyone has 16 great great grandparents and 1 of them was indian I'm 1/16. Of course I don't know if the other 15 had any indian ancestors, but I personally don't care since it's not like I go to indian reservations or anything. though I do live in indiana which is indian with an a on the end, coincidence or divine destiny

I understand how you feel. Though I am a white male I am also gay. I have had to deal many times with people seeing me as evil, a perversion, unnatural, confused etc... It can really hurt sometimes but you have to understand that people often times don't realise how hurtfull they can be. I have found if you have patience with people and show them what a good person you are they will very often change their minds.

Racist? Everybody is racist to some lesser or greater extent. It is human nature to think that way. But logic and sense should overrule it.
Example: I knew a girl in highschool who was a anti-discrimination "activist" (meaning she wore T-shirts with slogans) She was against discrimination and racism towards black people. However, she didn't have any problem of calling me names or degrading me (Chinese)

I used to get riled up but I've given up since my friends and relatives are just as bad (not to me, other minorities/races)

Face the facts, Everyone is to somedegree "racist" with today's definition of it. Everyone is prejudiced, whether you want to admit it or not. And prejudice based on race is essentially the definition of racism nowadays. People have to prejudge, if we don't there is just simply too much information for us to absorb and life would suck a hell of a lot more than you think it does now.

However, this is not to excuse blantant honest racism. And on the other side, keep in mind, lots of stuff which is being claimed racism by special interest groups and squeeky wheel's is nothing more than oversensitivity or agenda pushing.

I really don't care about racism as long as I'm not the target of it. Rare though, being blond and blueeyed in Sweden. Had some nasty incidents happen to me in the past though, but I can't really say that I get offended by some people shouting "Whitey" at me...

That's a sterotype. "Like everybody that's black can jump" That's like asking a question like: You wanted by the goverment for tax fraud or something money related. You need a lawyer. So? If you can't easily find out anything else that might be relevant (note that that's a big "if" in most cases), going with the stereotype is the only logical thing to do. Simple probability.
