How is your EU3 Game going?

An update on my Spanish Empire. 1623

First up, here's one of those clear Empire+Vasals map:

Here is a Europe+neighbours map:
Spoiler :

I invaded north africa because i wanted that Barbary Pirates modifier. It will prolly annoy you all to know that i did this through a No CB war (again). But i did so with a fast decreasing infamy (included in the pic). :D I only start No CB wars when i have an event with +2 stability btw. :p
Also, i castrated the Savoyard Empire. They have colonies in Central Africa and America and i took their only port in Europe (Nice). Let's see what they'll do now.
Noteworthy also is the resurrection of Naples which i annexed about 200 years ago. I accidentally rose them from the grave when i conquered Sicily but did not want to annex it because it was a war of Liberation or smthing. So during negotiations i put Naples back on the map while exiling Sicily to the island of Malta.
Another thing to note is the Ottoman Empire which once stretched from the Atlantic coast to the Red Sea and Black Sea now only has one landlocked province in Asia Minor.

Oh and i had a question, i'm an administrative republic and so is Naples. How do i peacefully annex it ? Relations are at 200, we are allied + military access + guarantee + expand influence. Still no option to discuss anything close to annexation ...

Anyway MAPS
Here is North America + my awsome advisors.
Spoiler :
oHwVb.jpg

For about 50 years i have been having a near constant 100% cultural tradition. So i afforded to call for whatever advisors i want and only took them if they had 5+ stars.

Here is my South America + my national ideas and sliders:
Spoiler :

Note the lack of Quest for the New World. I changed that idea because i got tired of exploring. My next idea will obviously be the Cabinet ! The change was really smooth because i changed when i had a random event where one option was +2 stability so no big deal. (i get a lot of these events if i have 5-6 star advisors - and i have ONLY those kinds of advisors)

And here is the regular world map:
Spoiler :
J2EZQ.jpg

Indian blob forming on the horizon. (can't remember their name tho - it's not India :p)

There is 1 south eastern African province annexed by one of the japanese ! And there are about 4-5 more occupied but not annexed yet. How do i make them talk to me ???
Oh and btw, the navy blue japanese keep being #1 in that ranking thing. Only occasionally topped by Britain. What does this ranking even mean ? (with the recent conquests i'm no1 btw :D)

Hiding numbers just for their own sake is moronic, but I did like the idea of having factions, corruption, expanded HRE play and so on. I assume that translates into not liking Ubik's stuff, but liking the other ideas.

If you just want more time in EU3, you can simply alter the defines file. It's pointless extending a mod beyond its own content, simply to save people editing their own file.

I haven't really paid any attention to the D&T releases past 5.x or so. I still have a copy of 4.x I play with, as well as a copy of 3.4 for a long running MP game I have going.

Has Ubik busted in threatening a lawsuit yet?

I've had one game as Castille -> Spain that I have played off and on in a recent D&T version (I think it's 8.something). Great Britain has formed, but I don't think I've noticed a unique government for them. No A-H yet.

What an awful game that was going to be.

That's still highly inefficient and I'd advise you never do that. Oh, and you still get 2 WE alongside the stab hit so it's not just that.

Also, i castrated the Savoyard Empire. They have colonies in Central Africa and America and i took their only port in Europe (Nice). Let's see what they'll do now.

Once their colonies core, they'll be able to resume colonising.

For you to propose annexation, they need to be your vassal (or junior partner in PU, but never do it if it's a PU because you can inherit and that's infamy-free unlike forcing annexation).

You need to have a royal marriage with them in order to be able to offer them vassalisation. So unless both of you change government types and get a royal marriage, you'll have no such luck.

Though they're weak, you can easily beat them in a war and then incorporate them or force vassalisation on them - yes, you can force vassalisation even though you're both republics and will be able to incorporate them afterwards even without royal marriage.

Note the lack of Quest for the New World. I changed that idea because i got tired of exploring.

Big mistake, QFTNW gives you an extra 50% colonial range and gives you the Colonialism cb (conquest of all overseas provinces bordering you for 25% infamy). You'd clean up the New World much better with this cb.

Japan is all glitched up, unless it forms, your diplomacy with them will be massively hampered. You can talk to them through Kyoto (OPM Japan) - if you declare war on it, it's as if you declared war on all the daiymos.

Oh, and everybody here is still waiting for you to kick the UK from Iberia.

I did; it looks like a different modding group has picked up the In Nomine version and is translating it to Divine Wind. I was wondering whether Ubik or the original crew decided to show up somewhere in that thread.

TBH i was drunk when i did that. :D

FUUUUU
Forgot about that.

And for once i wanted to do something peacefully !
Oh well, i never liked Sicily anyway. It's not worth that much trouble.

Hmm i seem to recall still having colonial conquest CBs.
Also, i did change it after i finished with the inca. And with that, conquest in the Americas is over, central america is France's business, east coast is whoever's, west coast is mine.
As for colonial range, it's worldwide already. I switched when it actually became worldwide. This was one of my goals from the start, so i placed my colonies strategically for this purpose. So i didn't see any point for keeping QFTNW anymore. (didn't know it gave me CBs)

From what i could tell, the Swahili or Mutapa (whoever that is) were the "defenders of the animist faith" IIRC and THEY declared war on japan a very long time ago for some reason. They kept declaring war on me when i was fighting in south america as well. There were some other glitches like this early in the game too. Alabama appeared on the map in the first 15-30 years of the game for no apparent reason. And for some reason this really pissed everyone off and almost everytime the truce expired the whole of europe was on a crusade against them !

Might happen next time i play drunk. :p

Oh, definitely. I still have versions 3.3 and 4.0 on my system, for when I return to my Burgundian and Byzantine AARs.

Yup, you have a bad case of cache, delete everything there :p

Now this I don't understand., why would you do that? :D

I dunno about you, but I do my best to avoid drinking and being next to a computer

(Gosh, I sure could go for a drink or a dozen right about now, I've been studying waay too much :()

I usually only post on CFC while drunk actually. (especially true for the Offtopic forum)
But lately i've been coming here more often because i have questions about my EU game. :D

Why does ubik has such infamy? I've seen people talk about him acting horrendous, but when searching the forums, I can't find the rudeness and insanity he would retudedly have.

The only way to play EU like a man.

Given I don't frequent the Paradox forums, I hadn't seen any of his postings until Magna Mundi bombed and he started threatening to sue Paradox. He then made his own web forum and started posting stuff there, which was funny in a tragic way.

We had a thread on it awhile back, might be worth searching for and reading if you are interested.

More on my empire. Currently having almost a 5000 economy, about as much as the combined Castillian and British. France is 3/5 of my economy, but has a stability of 1. I won a naval war against them though and finally kicked them out of Dubrovnic which has a CoT too, now mine :) I need more CoT's, only four are mine now, but will create a new one in Italy soon.

More questions from my game !

Just researched Grain Depot but can't build it anywhere (even tho i have lots of grain producing provinces)

Should i make CoTs EVERYWHERE ? In every area i colonize i mean. Didn't bother in the last parts i colonized.

The liberte, egalite, fraternite policy(not national idea) seems intresting. Giving up on the pope for good. I hope it'll be ok without any missionaries. I think i can cope with the increased revolt risk. Is there anything dangerous i should be aware of about this ?

He wasn't really rude per say, it's just that he has a huge narcissism problem. He kept saying his game was the greatest thing ever when everyone but himself clearly knew it was terrible.
For example of its awfulness, many of the different screens had exit buttons in different places, instead of up in a corner like everything on a computer has ever had.

What happened to Byzantine Africa and the Levant?

Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite is an interesting policy. It can be really powerful - that's how I got way far ahead in tech in my Russia game, despite starting in the Eastern group. The main downside is that it gives you less wiggle room with revolts. Overextending a bit in a war, when it previously would be an annoyance, might now be a major problem. But if you think you can handle the revolt risk, it can be a very good decision.

It is a game from an older save within the game that resulted originally in a Roman levant & Egypt.

I think it is better now, although i just had to go to war against Castille when it DoW'd on Mameluks exactly when my guarantee ended... The result, after a Roman-Britsh vs Castillian-French-Portuguese war was a miserable single province gained, although i did get France to release something too (!). I plan to ally with Holland as well in the future. Sure way to ruin France- or Holland.

Also i am now known as Benefactor-Soter of Persians, since a persian country exists in the edge of the Caucasus, and i gifted them a province.

Nothing much else going on. Austria is locked between major powers and regional powers.

It's pretty definitively Eastern in the image. Yes, I like it as well.
