How is your EU3 Game going?

Overall I've had decent luck with allies honoring my calls to war. Occasionally they don't, but most of the time it's because they were recently owned themselves, have huge war weariness, or something like that. In the most recent case, my ally had both been owned and had huge war weariness, and the new enemy was super-powerful. I wouldn't have haplessly tried to help in their shoes, either.

This.
You also wouldn't like being called to a war if you have low stab, high WE, etc... so don't call the AI when it is in such situation.

He's either referring to a screenshot where the state of Ulm has been reconstituted, or maybe the AHD Beta AAR by the Ulm guy. He played as Württemberg (which has Ulm), did a similar comic-style presentation.

I decided to start a game as the Iroquois, because my Timurids game is on hold and Novgorod just wasn't challenging enough. I've played ahead a good ways, but I'll spread out the updates to increase the suspense and highlight some of the unusual facets of this game, both in my area and abroad.

This brings us to the first glance at the world, in August, 1425.

In the New World, I was forced to conquer the Huron right away, because they tried to conquer me. A large mercenary army was successful, debt was accumulated, and they were annexed. And they were not happy about it. Although they were annexed in 1400, it was less than four years ago that I wrested the last province from the most recent rebellion. Now the revolt risk is a manageable 2.5% or so in their former provinces, and the economy is in better shape. All techs, including stability, are zero.

But in the Old World, things are a-happening! Aragon has gained the upper hand on Castille, and even more inexplicably, so has Morocco, who together with Algiers owns North Africa. Further east, Sicily of all powers has becoming the first imperialistic western nation, taking part of the Mamluk lands. And, for the first time in any game I've ever played, Ireland has formed, with no interference from myself. Seeing as Cornwall also exists, England clearly lost a war, but even so, a unified Ireland is a surprise. We've also seen Serbia go from being an Ottoman vassal to a Venetian one, while Bosnia has gained independence.

And we've had an existant Ireland, Aragon being superior to Castille, and Morocco in Iberia for no less than 8 years.

Will Morocco and Aragon become dominant in Iberia, and will Ireland stand on its own against the hungry English lords? Perhaps more importantly, will the Iroquios stand or their own or prove to be a paper tiger? And will the Ottomans finally put forth a respectable showing, or will they become a Venetian province like Serbia? Only time will tell.

Quintillus, do you play Death and Taxes? A unified Ireland is not exactly big news to D&T players (although it rarely lasts more than a few decades) but Castille in half is still pretty impressive.

I don't see Ireland unite often at all in D&T.

Nope, I've only ever played regular, unmodded Divine Wind. I might branch out at some point but regular DW is still proving quite fun for me.

Here's the situation in August 1446, twenty-one years later:

Ireland, sadly, has fallen. Morocco, too, has lost their advantage. Aragon, however, maintains its edge in Iberia. Meanwhile, the Mamluks defeated Sicily, but Naples has taken the helm of Italian colonialism, by taking Tunisia from Algiers. And way far up north, Tver has become the dominant Russian state, after what I can only assume must have been a massive collapse by Novgorod. The Horde has done a nice job of taking Muscowy off the map.

India is also being partitioned nicely between Vijaynagar, Orissa, Rajputana, and Bihar in that order. Poor Malwa and Bundelkhand are stuck in the middle.

In Iroquois-land, Production Tech 1 has been reached, providing a massive 10% production bonus over Tech 0. This is somewhat less exciting than it sounds, however, as before we had actually been at -2% production, not counting the minimum 1%, so we actually only went from 1% to 8% rather than the expected 11%.

Even in vanilla DW I'd see it happen rather often. It usually only lasted for a decade at most, and even then, they were usually OPMs or vassals, but it still wasn't uncommon. A relatively powerful Wales, now there's a rare sight.

And you know what's worse?

Austria is in a personal union under Bosnia

That won't last then. The insults will be coming in regularly.

Clearly going to try and form France.

DW 5.1, no mods except the Korean Pirate Raid fix.

Currently playing Ming... and trying to role-play them as the Celestial Kingdom: no external wars unless attacked or called to arms by an ally, no trades in external COTs, no land-grabbing, no colonization except Taiwan.

I've been focussing almost entirely on "inward perfection"... balancing the three factions so that the Emperor can play them off against each other instead of being a puppet.

My first NI was Patron of the Arts. Not sure what I'll pick as my second... I don't really need Bureaucracy, but it sounds like a very Ming-like thing to do.

Today I finally finished a game.

I started the game sometimes last year, and played it on and off. I played as Muscowy, then becoming Russia, and the difficulty was Very Easy. I never really had any big wars, I spent most of the game colonizing the nomadic countries in Siberia. The only country that was a challenge in a war was Austria, and I think I ended up losing a province to them. At the end of the game, I managed to get high relations with Austria and much of the European countries.

The big blue country in America is France, I think the only bit they kept in Europe is Île-de-France, and their monarchs were from the Rurikovich dynasty. Portugal were also kicked out of Europe. The large country in the Middle East is Syria. The blue on in China is Korea.

Are the locations of the American countries supposed to be random? I had Mexico in Louisiana, Louisiana and the USA in Mexico, Chile and Peru in Alaska, and I think Canada is in South America.
