How well known is the CN tower?

I've been up the tower... but the horrendous wait time for the elevator kind of negated the experience...

Probably I picked a bad day, it was back in August 1993.

EDIT: What a surprise. 555th post. Isn't the tower 555 meters tall?

I live in Finland.
I've been to the CN-tower. Not in the topmost part - only in the 360 meter restaurant :)

- The food was good
- I enjoyed the view to the nearby airfield (it was fun watching planes flying below me :) ).
- The glass floor was weird
- I wanted to walk up the stairs, but it wasn't the right time
- It's built by the canadian railroad -right (but nobody actually knows why)?
- It's the tallest tower in the world without external support cables (right?).

Right, all right, the top part is called the Sky-Pod. I've been in there once, it was cool!

Yeah, it's just that not too many people realize that it's not named after the railroad company anymore.

As for towers going up that will surpass it in height.. Construction started on the Burj Dubai last year - it's going to be almost twice as tall as the CN tower!! And it's an office tower at that.
WOW! That office tower would be a whole kill high, that's a spicy meatball!

From the Wikipedia article:

"Construction on the CN Tower started on February 6, 1973 by Canadian National Railway who wanted to build a large TV and radio communication platform to service the Greater Toronto Area and also to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry."

I remember seeing it on Discovery Channel or National Geograpic once, didn't recognize the name though, just it's shape. Also didn't know it was in Canada, but who cares about Canada anyway... :p
(I live in the Netherlands)

Ofcourse, I've been there when I went to Toronto back in '96. Nice construct.

I swear that is photoshopped.

If not, you should check your girlfriend for scoliosis.
