I am a hard but not excessively hard drinker

Yeah, same here. I've never been able to have one or two, hence never touching a drop during the weeks.

When I used to drink I felt it was absolutely necessary to get completely wasted. Otherwise, why even bother starting?

Quit drinking about a couple of years ago. Saved lots of time and money.

So my advice, that you never asked for, is - quit fudgingg drinking, lads. You'll reap tons of benefits.

Vodka is disgusting (and this comes from a Russian). It's was invented as a way of getting warm, it's not meant to be drunk like they do it in the West - sipping it (yuck), enjoying the "taste".

I would quit if I drank in binges or was that excessive, but drinking's always been right where I want it - something I don't do regularly (aka daily) but enjoy when I do do it, as long as I don't binge (which I haven't, since college).

Maybe if alcohol didn't make you sick or hungover, I'd drink all the time. It might be nice to have something that'd give you a mild buzz to relax after work without having any nasty after-effects or significant health problems. Oh wait... :smoke:

If we count schizoprenia or however you spell it as 'not significant', I suppose...

I no longer drink, but I'll confess now that I used to write cheques that my liver really couldn't cash. You can't spell paralytic without para, after all!

...and I'm fairly sure I can't spell it anyway.

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR!

But yeah.. if alcohol didn't give hangovers I'm pretty sure everyone would be drunk all the time.

Marijuana doesn't cause schizophrenia.

Almost! It's "schizophrenia," and the links are tenuous at best... but again, in moderation, that's not an issue. I'd love to discuss this in more detail but unfortunately the CFC rules don't permit that. Besides, that's off-topic for this thread anyway.

Annnnd now I'm heading home from work to go relax. Cheers! ;)

I generally drink for as long as I have money left for the night or the pubs close, whichever is soonest.

Get a nice buzz

I now refuse to believe you are non-American.

I can't actually remember the last time I had more than four drinks in one night. :dunno:

Maybe you had a lot more?

Unrelated to the drinking.

If you can think of a good non-America word to describe that feeling, I'm all ears! Scots may have about two dozen words to describe inebriation, but all of them assume that at least a good half dozen pints have been downed. :p

Every few nights I'll have a beer or two but for me getting blackout drunk is a pretty rare occasion. Last time I did serious drinking was a few months back when I was moving out of province and had one last get together with some friends.
Before that... New Years maybe?

I drink maybe once a week. And when I drink I drink till im shitfaced!
I have been drinking tho on a daily basis before. Getting shitfaced everyday but it couldnt be maintained in the long run. Prolly spend 3 years drinking everyday.
My signature is BTW from the drinking period ;)

I generally only have a few drinks at a time. Get a nice buzz, have a nice blether, maybe dance around like a pillock if I'm at the right kind of gig. I can't actually remember the last time I had more than four drinks in one night. :dunno:

This is pretty much the case for me too. I only drink more when people are getting drunk. The last time I drank a substantial amount, something like several glasses of wine, was playing king's cup with course mates in March.

No booze. I wish i could enjoy it, it's a pain having to explain to everyone that "no, not an ex-alcoholic, just don't like to drink"; but the high just isn't what I'm looking for.

I get that too when I say that I don't drink. In truth, my internal bits no longer work well enough for me to punish them the way I used to and expect them to keep running.

Did you used to do the silly para "I can stand more pain than you" games?

Who's your avatar? It's not Orde, is it?

I never drink - I actually hate the taste of alcohol itself.

Either one Friday or Saturday a week is pretty much set aside for drinking. I usually get fairly drunk too. Pretty much only beer, but sometimes I'll have a gin and tonic.

Sometimes I'll have a glass of wine with the food I'm cooking if I had to buy a bottle for the recipe anyways. Why waste?

Haha. Alcoholics avoid these conversations like the plague. ;)

When I'm very busy I don't drink much. Few beers a day during the weekdays, more on parties.
When I don't have much to do, I drink more. About 6 a day, depends also on the girlfriend's habits if wine and champaign is involved.
There's months that I realize I drink to much and stop it and don't drink at all.

I'm calling BS on 15 pints every wedding. You would die.
