If you founded a new nation, what would its national anthem be?

Its a very simple question: which already-existing song would you make your national anthem for your newly-founded country? It doesn't have to be a national anthem already, just a regular old song. Give a short explanation why so the mods don't close me down. And try not to pick silly things like rock or rap songs.

My choices:

Proshchanye Slavianki

Proshchanye Slavianki (Farewell to the Slavic Girl) was written for Russian soldiers leaving to fight in the First Balkan War. It was a candidate for the National Anthem of the Soviet Union for a time, and is still a favorite in Russia. I find it invigorating and exciting, regardless of where it is from, and we all remember what Homer said about music ( "Noble and manly music invigorates the spirit, strengthens the wavering man, and incites him to great and worthy deeds" ).

My other choice is Hands Across the Sea, my favorite John Phillip Sousa march. I think its heroic and very fun to play (all the more on Trombone), and with all the wonderful qualities of a Sousa march. Its not very "angry" and bellicose, but is firm and manly.

Ode to Joy instrumental. Upbeat, but not nationalistic. And people wouldn't have to sing, just stand at attention.

I would call my nation Union of the Great Servants of Warpus

and use the inspiring music and lyrics of Bloodlust and Perversion by Carpathian Forest as the anthem.

with every instance of "Satan" in the song replaced with "Warpus"

Disclaimer: Due to the extreme patriotic messages found in the lyrics (and other potentially offending imagery in the video), the above link will only take you to a google search page, and not the actual video. This is mainly done to minimize the probability of satanic demons travelling through the internet using TCP/IP packets and infecting unsuspecting CFC members with unwanted spyware and potential homosexuality.

The Final Countdown

It would depend on the nation.

Assuming the nation was Quebec, definitely Gilles Vigneault's "Mon Pays". Not a single song better describes how I feel about Quebec, or how I view it (They're hard to make out in the cropped version of my avatar here, but the first line of the song is what's being written on the parchment).

Assuming some other, hypothetical, made-up nation...can't say. It simply depends on too many thing, and I think the song need to reflect the country (and not the country to reflect the song).

Dies Irae.

Something that reflects the common culture, history and/or struggle of the people.
If no such common culture, history and or struggle of the people exist, what is the point of a new nation?

Maybe Amazing Grace.
