I remember a discussion of a few years ago, where I found it ridiculous that a state in a federacy is not allowed to leave.
One nation, under God, Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. That is the United States of America.

I'd support my state and fight the brazilian oppressors.

I think my city should leave the state. If not that, the southern half of the state should sperate from the state. If not that, the state should leave the Union.

But I wouldn't. We are the UNITED States Of America. Not the Losely Tied Together States Of America. :p
The states allow the nation to exisit not the other way around. *Shakes angry Nevadan fist*

I'd leave Quebec.

But Ontario... well, Ontario basically is Canada, so there'd be no particular reason to leave. :p

I was thinking the same thing. I think Ontario would miss Alberta's oil.

If my home state (Ohio) were to leave, I think I'd move back.

Further more, I don't believe there will ever be an American Civil War over the merits of secession. I believe that if a state or states wished to leave, they would find a way to do it legally.

Personally, I'd support my state. Blood is thicker than water, and the way society seems to be going in my country, I'd understand perfectly why they'd want to ;)

Well, as I have no loyalty to either Massachusetts or Georgia, if one left the country, I think I'd move to whichever State my family lived in.

Obviously it depends on the reasoning.

Bit off topic - Where do you live?

Would never happen here. If it did, well, the rest of the heretic states don't know what real football is, so despite the overwhelming natural beauty of some of Victoria's sisters... I'd stay. We also have the most liveable city in the world, so I see no need to relocate.

Then name your country differently. The fact that it's is a bunch of states that united, suggests that they can be ununited. If it is indivisible, then just call it America (like most people do anyway:p).

I study in the capital of my country, and have half of family in other provinces, so I wouldn't like the idea of it going independant except for that the new Republic would have needed people after arabic studies to open up embassies and diplomatic contacts, so I actually could profit of this independance, especially that my city exports or used to export arms to Arab world...

They arent states as in nations. Just administative divisions if you would.

Ontario will never choose to leave Canada, but I can see the rest of the country booting us out.

That said, I'm not sure what I would do. If Ontario left Canada, I just might move to Europe.

I have very little allegience to my province, I'm a Canadian first, a Torontonian second (even though I hail from tHe non-Toronto part of Ontario).
