Looks like fun, and I'm partial to Brennus and his bodacious sister myself, then England, then France.

Only suggestion I would make is leave all victory conditions enabled to add some late game excitement.

I rated as I saw and have experienced. I have lurkered nearly every SG for the past year and change, and B-E-F has the mechanics of a 6-7 but not really the big picture yet. As a matter of fact I think everyone on the list can be all the way up to an 8-9 range with more development.
I will try and track the results.

I'm pretty easy as far as the civ goes. Never played as France or England, so they seem more appealing.

Ok, so I leave the lunacy forum for one bleedin' day and what happens. I get assigned as Cap. Stay away a month and I'll be moderator . With such a cool line up I must admit it's an honour, but, I'll be off-forum btw 5th-13th June and that's not good if you're to lead the squad. So for the best logistics I suggest someone else take that cap.
About my rank, 4 is prolly about it. Haven't played more than, say, 5-6 solo games ever since I bought the darn thing in January and has been doing some SG'ing too, but Bede or AK can confirm this and as far as I can see they haven't replaced me to the "Can spell your name"-level....yet.
No cult would leave out my pet civ Celts and semi self research downplays sci civs. Looks like agri/mil/comm would be good for the variant so I'd say:
Carthage for the cool MA hair-do
Ottomans for the Siphais backward roll when defeated, brilliant!
France because they voted No!
Q. If we pop a GH and, unlikely, get a tech, does that count for self research?

Wow this will take me time to catch up, but officially I'd be 4-4.5ish indeed, so Whomp ... don't overrate the grumpy ol' bear !

Romeo sums it up pretty well in his above post; I play confident on solo DG, whatever VC I tried, but I'm unexperienced (read IGNORANT) about big pictures and stuff like this. So perhaps a really stretched and coached 6.5, if you catch me on good days

Big pictures are too complicated for me. I like small pitures, with small images, done with small lines. Anything more complicated could make my hair take over my head and then I'd start grunting and scratching my back, looking for fleas and bananas to eat from my chest fur.

About the trade for Tomoyo, I guess I'll take the challenge, but if you want me to be up to his almightyness, you'll have to coach me with big pictures (while trying to keep me off the flea picking stage of my brain).

@ B E F & Dag - don't forget to post your civ prefs.

@ MP - lots of time the civ choice is due to the starting techs or the UU. I lean to civs that start with alpha and or pottery. France also has that cool UU.
