Immortal University Bullpen

Fractal would be great. I'm just getting around to finishing the JC game right now. The map for the Peter game wasn't bad, just a bit on the large side.
Yeah that's the impression I got from the comments. I probably should have tested the game further than I did... oh well :) (funny thing is I did add an extra AI! :crazyeye:)

It's a good map. From what I've seen, that Big & Small type mostly looks like yours - Pangaea with lots of little islands and what not, so one has to get more land than others.

Woohhooo!! 10k views!

On more serious note...wazzaaa??!!?

Sorry guys for not asking about Hatty's map type, I had very little time to spare for IU. In case that happens again, let me ask you now for upcoming IU Darius game. NC has Darius in schedule soon and it seems they'll go with Fractal; sooouu....are you up for some unusual map type? Anything else, something specific or if anyone would like to host it - let me know. Thanks!

Why is it that all the links after 84 Ramesses are broken?

Because Habitus hasn't been around to update the original post. Other posters have been hosting the games, but they can't add the proper link to the first post.

You can either comb the thread or use a forum search to find the other games.

Complete list is in posts #83 and #84. As Izuul said, we can't update original post, so that'll have to do. :)

Hey guys,

I am willing to help for IU. But are there guidelines or rules on how to make the map?

@pandamancer

Absolutely, any help is very welcome! Rules are all over the place, I picked up most important ones in mentioned post #84 and some ideas are in ones after that. For me, every map is created differently, for some after I find interesting AI opponents (cause I keep them on random) I regenerate a lot to find the shape I want, then check for resources (we don't have to have all of them, but interesting combo's, maybe to fight with neighbor for the only copper or something). And by either playing or mentally (if you're experienced enough) check for balance, so that Gandhi is not surrounded by Shaka & Monty or that you don't have 3 best techers on 1 continent and 3 warmongers on other, or 2 wonder-spammers on other and stuff like that. You can edit (replace or swap) AI's manually too (in notepad), you just have to be careful to edit it correctly. And for some it all fall into place after first try, cause the game does good job with the balance (in some cases, on some map types).

As for how to make all level saves, it's explained in one of first posts in NC Bullpen; then take Immortal one with no huts & no events (.CivBeyondSwordWBSave), start it via play a scenario, open WB, add techs to barbs and save as regular Immortal save (.CivBeyondSwordSave). You have to create game in bts version with no mods or BUG installed in CustomAssets folder (which the games still reads as no mods).

Then post it; keep the Opening post as it is, for any edits/extra info/... use 2nd post.

You can try to create one, upload somewhere and PM someone link to it (you can't upload games in PM unfortunately) to check it out. Wanna try Linc or Giggles? We had all kind of maps recently (Fractal, Continents, Global Highlands, Big&Small, Islands) and today I'll upload Darius on...dunno yet  so they can be on map type we didn't have recently. The practice is usually to ask here what map type do people want.

Alright, sign me up for Lincoln! :)

So guys, what kind of map do you like?

-Continents (I vote for this one :p)
-Fractals
-Highlands
-Pangaea
-Archipelago
-Great Plains
-Lakes

pandamancer signed in.

I'm OK with Continents although we had it recently (IU 104 Hatty); in this case use different AI's (at least some of them). So I vote for...one of the Highlands or Lakes, just so Continents don't win with overwhelming advantage. :p

If you have any questions, ask away.

I always enjoy Fractal. You can get pretty much anything with that by adjusting the sea level.
