Imperium Off Topicum 8: The New Dawn

National Elections, 2202
Roberto Diaz won by a landslide gaining 77% of the votes, his plan of rapid expansion was to be implemented. Uruguay, Guyana, French Guyana, and Suriname fell with virtually no resistance. In Africa, The Government paid settlers to travel into the Congo, meeting fierce resistance. But the Portuguese army quickly Pacified the natives. Settlers went to Nova Scottia and Newfoundland to set up Portuguese Canada. Also 2 new armies have been created and are set to be involved in the War with Congo Bongo.Diaz says that Congo Bongo is a threat to our control in Sub-Saharan Africa. Swaziland and the coastal SA province bordering Mozambique will be invaded with 2 armies each, have the navy patrol the SA coast.

EDIT: if I can't invade and claim on the same turn, put everything into armies and invade the provinces with 5 armies each.

News of the success in Syria brought a huge morale boost to the Empire of Illuminating Light. There were parades of light and fireworks for a week. Truely the Light shown upon the empire that day. But this was dampened by reports of Assassin forces attempting to stir up support on the very border of the empire. People rallied to stop this. Missionaries went out in vast numbers to the people of the Balkans, coming into each small villiage with almost nothing. They spread the Light. They told of the glories of the Empire of Illuminating Light and of the Light itself. People were impressed. The region became a battle field of Assassins and missionaries. The Empire of Illuminating Light hoped that peaceful religious teachings would hold off the heathens, but life loss was high and many were dubious of how long peace could last.

"Faster!"

The crack of a whip. The agony of a man.

These convicts - predominantly human - were building a new regional capital for the Empire of the Rising Quill in the Siberian wastes. Reports showed immense wealth lay untapped within the icy terrain, and society's least desirable would be the perfect means of extracting it. Whereas the common citizen enjoyed many rights... the convict had practically none.

Ropes latched onto the sled tensed and loosened as laborers pulled... they were thankful that the toils of those before them had at least smoothed out the ground so it was less work. Alas, they were going uphill. This city was to be built on a hill to make it more defensible. That sturdy stone they were hauling would make the fortress look oh so grand.

Elsewhere, laborers were hoisting finer stone, not for practical purposes, but decorative - the Imperator needed statues built to him to honor his many achievements, and this had been imported from far away for such an occassion. Right behind them were sleds carrying timber, necessary to build some barracks - those soldiers didn't do so well in the freezing conditions.

It was Summer time, but still very frigid. The construction had to be done during the warmest periods, less the costs of equipping the convicts become prohibitive. Some would be lost either way... but it was an acceptable loss, transforming these laborers into manpower and glory for the Emperor.

Chocolate irises gazed upon this from a distance, surrounded by armed guards nearby and snipers covering his position from vantage points elsewhere.

"My Crown Prince?" A kangaroo grovelled in his robes, humble yet clearly having an aura of statelihood to them. The soldiers reluctantly let him past, but kept their fingers on the triggers.

"Yes, Foreman?"

"Does the site meet your expectations?"

"It does." Ventus replied, the marsupial supervisor's teeth gleaming with cheer, only to be folded into a frown as Ventus stared him down.

"It won't meet the Imperator's. Order your men to work even harder... he'll be expecting much, much more progress when he visits. Perhaps do some work yourself if necessary. He's refused to export any more laborers for this operation, so use what you have wisely. ...I'm off to oversee the mining operations up north. Good luck, Foreman."

The kangaroo did not speak, but merely stepped out of Ventus' way.

Ventus' ears grew sharp as the crack of a whip reached him, more than one, in fact. He almost shot to turn around and look, his body noticeably turning a few degrees. ..Almost. He resumed his walk, head hanging lower than it was before.

His eyes slowly looking upward, he thought to himself.

'Someday, this will be a distant memory. ...I hope.'

Shadow sat in his regal chair, eyes closed as he took in what his advisors stated, an aura of concentration surrounding him.

"The Chaos Fusion program is underway... distilling what we could from your blood, sire, we should hopefully be able to advance our technology to more respectable levels. The humans have some primitive measure called a 'nuclear weapon,' but we hope our means of delivery, and the yield of our payload, will prove far superior."

He nodded, crimson eyes gleaming over at his National Security Advisor, who quickly tossed a dossier on the desk out of reflex, opening it and showing the important parts to his liege.

"This 'Order' seems to be trying to send us a message, having killed several lower ranking officials..."

"What is the basis of their butchery?" Shadow replied, not bothering with a verbal obituary.

"They state we oppress human beings, Sire, and insist the deaths will not end until such oppression ceases."

Shadow's fist slammed on the desk, his immense strength causing a crack in the solid oak.

"Insolence! They have not an inkling of proof yet dare make demands of ME?!?!" He kicked off the insides of the desk, pushing his chair back as he swiftly moved out of it, moving towards the window, gazing down upon HIS city. So high he was in this tower, it almost reminded him of...

His hand having begun to trace along the thick, impregnable glass... curling into a fist. Solemn eyes taking on that unmistakeable hate and rage.

"...unlike them, we do have proof. Proof that eagles are involved in this act. All eagles in government employ are to be expelled from service, and any eagles at large are to be placed under surveillance."

He did a 180, cape flowing behind him as if there had been a gale.

"We will find each and every member of this 'Order,' find each and every collaborator, find each and every person they hold dear..."

They all knew what was coming by this point.

"...and make them suffer a fate so horrid they'd wish I'd signed the death warrants."

"A Military alliance?" The Emperor's mood was reflective as he considered the news. "What sort of alliance?"
"It is a purely defensive proposal my lord," Han informed him "and appears to be aimed at keeping the choas in Dreamland contained at arms length." Han paused for a moment before continueing. "It is along similar lines to what I was proposing at our last meeting."

"It appears then that our Coruscanti Counterparts move quite quickly. Odd, I was under the impression that their Senate was quite similar to our own, how did they manage to get an approval so quickly?" The Emperor seemed slighty surprised.
"Perhaps their negotiators don't need to consult constantly with thier leaders." Han's voice was markedly emotionless.
"Or perhaps," Luke put in quickly, "Their Seante is made up of more than just petty Bureaucrats."
"The fact the war is taking place right on thier border might make even Bureaucrats make a decision."
"I don't think even a war would manage to escape without an investigatory committee."
The Senatorial liason, Leia Organa, Glared at both Luke and Han in turn. "Much as you may dislike the Senate, they do not turn everything into a committee. Nor are they made up soley of self interested 'petty bureaucrats' as you call them, there are some people within the senate willing to do things without wasting time."
"Perhaps," Lord Vader interjected "we need to start considering how the senate might be reformed into something more efficiant. Whilst it is true that several of them are well meaning, as a whole they take too much time to make decisions."

"Or maybe we should return to the matter at hand." Tarkin finally entered the conversation. "It seems to me that this offer is precisely what we were looking for in order to establish our own political position in the world. It allows us prestige as well as security."
"It would certainly help give us the time we need to bring our defences up to scratch." Luke admitted.
"And perhaps under such an alliance they would be willing to share advice upon naval tactics..." Vader added.
"So we are in agreement then?" Palpatine looked around the table, and a murmur of assent arose. "Then it is decided. Send the Coruscanti a message telling them that we accept their offer, and we can begin reconsidering our defence requirements. But make it clear to them we shall intervene if the situation to the north is getting out of hand, we cannot allow this madness to infect our New Order."

"Sir." Intelligence Analyst Porter stated. "The bird we sent to Hawaii has returned to radio range. It reports that Hawaii is indeed occupied by an organized mutant resistance."

"Wonderful." General Warfield rumbled over his scotch. "Well, it appears we have no choice. Thank you for your report."

Analyst Porter saluted and left Warfield's office. Warfield sat back in his chair and waited. A few minutes later, the door to his office opened and two black-suited secret service agents entered. A shadowed face followed them. The figure attached to the face snapped his finger, and one of the agents held a glowstick above the figure.

President Gil Carnegie's face appeared, illuminated by the glowstick. "Now that's better. For some reason, ever since I've taken this job, my face has been perpetually shadowed and unrecognizable. General. Our course of action is clear, and the necessary orders have been made." President Carnegie explained in his clipped, precise tones. "A team is en route to Hopeville in an attempt to restore control of our silos, another team is searching the waters around Alaska for some warship we can use as a basis for a navy, and we are Accepting Coruscant's offer. I imagine this will go over as well as possible."

"Of course it will, Mr. President. That's why you're the boss." Warfield drunkenly replied.

"Good. Now you are in charge of our return eastward. Make your country proud, General." With that, the President motioned, the glowstick was put away, and he left for his own office.

Commieland remains the world's dominant economy, followed by the Gulf Imperium. Egypt has lost its position as owner of the world's largest army to The Tri Kingdoms, who field nearly 1.5 million men in their war against Dream Land. Said war is currently in the favor of the Dreamlanders. The world's largest navy sails from the ports of New Equestria, with nearly 60 ships heeding their admirals' orders. Rus, Illuminating Light and Coruscant are tied for the second place position, with only about a dozen fewer vessels.

The Caribbean Federation has invaded Somalia both at home and in Panama, securing vital interests swiftly, with no opposition from nonexistent Somalian forces. Portugal has swept over Kongo Bongo, and the nation has collapsed under the pressure. Benin has dissolved into chaos and anarchy, ceasing to be a factor on the global stage.

The Enclave of the United States of America has begun a massive war against the Brotherhood of Steel, which in and of itself has forced a war with Portugal and Commieland through military action against their claims in Canada. The Enclave is winning the war so far, but it remains to be seen what will come of it.

The Assassins' Order has launched a full scale offensive against the Empire of the Illuminating Light in the Balkans, crushing their forces in several engagements and establishing control all the way to the shores of the Black Sea. However, Assassin claims in the Canary Islands conflict with those of Commieland, creating the world's largest conflicted claim zone.

To the north, the people of Slovakia have thrown their loyalty behind Commieland, leaving Rus to squabble with The Empire of the Rising Quill over Siberia. Rus also must deal with a conflict in northwestern Iran against the Gulf Imperium, which in and of itself struggles with a claim conflict against Portugal in West Africa. And that's not even counting Portugal's conflict with Commieland in Newfoundland and.

"Nagasaki. What a beautiful place. I know I didn't want to go, but now that I am here, I can't say I mind at all". A human couple were conversing in Arabic in the otherwise English speaking furry nation. The woman of the two responded, "Omar, you idiot! Wait until we reach our hideout! You know these people are xenophobic S.O.B.s". "Yes, Fariha", responded the saddened Omar.

After a short minute walk, the two Assassins walked into a run down, abandoned pub. For the time being, this served as the base of operations for the only group of Assassins in the entire nation of what used to be called Japan. Now, it was called Mobius, and the once human ultramajority became a lowly minority. Fariha addressed Omar before entering, "Okay, some of the other Assassins that came got some recruits. Now, since I got delegated as the leader of this chapter, I want you to help me greet them". "Can't speak English, remember?", countered Omar. "I'll translate, now get in". At this point, Fariha grabbed Omar's wrist, opened the door, and dragged him in.

Inside, along the usual, human faces inside the base, there were a few new people in it. However, some of the new bloods were in fact Mobian. "We... kind of had to look forward in membership, or we would be at a disadvantage. Plus, Mobians can hide in public better than humans", said one of the Assassins, obviously nervous. Fariha nodded and motioned him to introduce them to her.

The first newbie was a human male. He did not look in any form Japanese, and it was clear to Omar he was trying to converse with Fariha in some sort of Slavic language. The recruiting Assassin went, "This is Vladimir, some escaped slave from Siberia. He fled to Japan proper because he thought that would be where the Quills last look for him. Vlad then lived in the effing woods outside of the city until we came to him. This guy used to be a soldier before being enslaved, and is one of the best shots I've ever seen". He then tossed Vladimir a gun, and instructed him to shoot a shoot bottle from the other side of the building. One shot, and the glass shattered. "Pleased to meet you", said Vladimir in a heavily awkward, Russian-accented English.

Next up was a female human, and she looked depressed by all accounts. She did not make eye contact with anyone, and just stared at the ground. The Assassin continued, "This bundle of joy didn't give me a real name, just Burakku. Her parents are dead, her brother is dead, her friends are dead, and she was sterilized. Everything in her life went wrong ever since the Mobians came. She turned into a life of robbery, and is quite aerobatic... when she isn't in one of these depressed moods". Burakku sighed, and they walked down to the next person.

This person was a huge elephant Mobian, at least 7 feet. He towered over everyone and thing, even when he was sitting. He, in fact, sitting down doing some math problem involving calculus and imaginary numbers "This fellow is Zo. He is a math professor in the university, and outspoken critic against the anti-human policy. This guy is smart. VERY smart. And he has connections within the university to other human resistance groups. Just.... don't bother him when he's doing a problem like right now. He is a huge[censored] elephant, you know". The group slowly walked away, not bothering him.

The next person was a cackling, obviously crazy mongoose Mobian. He interrupted the Assassin and introduced himself, "I am Mangusu, and I am simply the best fighter in all of Mobius. I am the champion of the underground fighting circuit, you know! 33-0 33KO. No one bests me. And I only joined this group to beat up people, not because I care about you humans-". The Assassin smiled and stopped him. He started conversing in Arabic, "Well, we're desperate, okay? We needed some good brawler, and he has issues with the law anyways. I don't think he'll betray us, but I would be afraid if he starts breaking the Creed. Please keep an eye on him, Fari". The three moved down to the last recruit.

She was, ironically, an eagle Mobian. She smiled and started introducing herself much like Mangusu. "Hi, I'm Iguru. I'm here because my life is ruined. I used to be part of the government as a low-ranking member of the Bureaucracy. However, the Imperator had me and all eagles sacked. You see, the Imperator thought your common threat of using eagle feathers, and please don't use mine, actually led him to believe all eagles are in fact part of the conspiracy. Every eagle. He sacked all of used, and put us under surveillance. I want revenge for his racism. Also, I can speak Arabic, so I undestood what you guys were saying earlier". She winked and then started to stare out the window.

The Assassin helping out Fariha and Omar turned around and stared at Omar. Fariha smirked, and also looked at Omar. The introducer said, "Oh, hey, I'd like my MP-40 back". Omar gasped and said, "Adib? You're alive? And Fariha"? Fariha said, "I knew since two days ago. Wanted you to find out yourself". Adib said, "I was out shopping for the hideout's food supply, actually. When I came back, I saw everyone dead and my prized SMG stolen. Had no clue what happened, but I fled. I got assigned to Japan, and look what we got here". Omar went on, "But.. but... you spoke perfect English and...". Adib stopped him. "Later".

The second elections of the Free South American Union were far different from the first. The Portugese claims outside Brazil and Commieland claiming in the South on cape horn led to the rise of a new power, the Radical Militarists. While the Freedom Alliance hung on to power, the victory was less than a landslide as many felt that more should be done to bring democracy to the world, South America especially. "We had liberated oourselves from a dictator, and we must aid the people of the world to do the same." (Part of the election speach of Hugo de Santiago, candidate from the Radical Militarists). The Workers Party also expanded, especially in newly joined parts of Chile, which were influenced by nearby commieland, but it also lost votes to the militarists in Venezuela.

Ventus paced back and forth, steps echoing off the black marble floor. His arms behind his back as if he'd been restrained, he was filled with anxiety - what had Shadow called him here for? He knew it was the Siberians were behind schedule, he knew it he knew it!

Finally, those doors yawned open with a great creak, guards standing ready, motionless, lifeless at their posts.

"Ventus, my son! I certainly hope I didn't keep you waiting!" The Imperator spoke, those words sinking into Ventus' ears, the green hedgehog groaning.

Said groan became mental, as well as ten times louder in volume as Shadow embraced him; it was such a put on, but repeated exposure to this faux affection had allowed him to know what to do.

He still, to this day, did not know why his mother had married this... this monster. There was not an ounce of humanity, of compassion or love in him - he still remembered the times Shadow had broken his bones. But where could he run to for such abuse? No one would dare try to free him from Shadow. Besides, the states' child services had increasingly been corrupted so as to remove human children and brainwash them or possibly even kill them. There was no justice, it was all a farce - it made his blood boil, but what made it turn to fire was that he, the son of Mobius' greatest - or second greatest as Shadow had made many believe - hero, was powerless to stop such things.

"Have a seat, we'll be here for a while, or perhaps this will be brief. It all depends..." An armored hand motioned to a chair, Ventus sitting after paying his due respects with a bow.

An aide was quick to remove the Imperator's helmet and cape as he took his own seat in his regal office chair. With a wave of his hand, the aide was quick to scurry on out, having placed the items on a hook. The guards, being motioned themselves, nodded in resignation and left the chamber, closing the large, sturdy doors behind them. Now this room, soundproofed and thoroughly debugged, was entirely sealed off, the Emperor and his Crown Prince getting their precious "father son time."

"Now you're probably wondering why I called you here." Not having anyone to impress, Shadow didn't mind kicking his boots up on the desk. He was lord and master of all he surveyed, and could do whatever he so wished... and right now, he felt like creating a more homey feel.

"..." Ventus remained quiet, causing Shadow's brownish-cream muzzle to curl into a grin. The boy had learned it was so much better to listen than to speak. The many operations he had over the years were a testament to that.

"I imagine your tasks have become rather stressful, Ventus. I trust you know we are disputing much of Siberia with the Muscovites?"

He nodded; he had been there just a few weeks before the Russians had arrived. Now there was an uneasy peace over the region... and skirmishes here and there. He wasn't sure how things would go, but he was kind of glad he wasn't there to see the likely suffering firsthand.

"Well in good news, you're going to get a vacation, my boy!" Shadow's feet slinked backward as he leaned forward, scurrying to hide beneath the desk. Folding his arms against eachother, he leaned in with a grin, a worrying look of joy upon his face.

"...for how long..?" He asked after a few moments of awkward silence.

"Forever." Shadow grinned.

Ventus gulped - this was it. He was going to be just another body in Shadow's death to-

His train of thought was interrupted as one of the side doors opened and a Mobian was escorted in by a soldier, who was prompt to seal the door shut as swiftly as it'd opened. A tall, athletic, black-furred wolf. Red bangs jutted out in practically every direction, the length of his hair draping past his shoulders and down the length of his back. He had white trailing down his muzzle and throat, vanishing into that black, red and gold skintight suit he wore. Armored gauntlets and boots were fit snugly around his forearms and lower legs. Most stunning were his eyes - a deep, pure red, crimson fang-shaped patches of fur located on each of his cheeks.

Despite such imposing colors, he sure seemed shy, having retreated as much as he could into those long, flowing robes of his, a cape and skirt accenting the body suit. Shadow waved for him to approach, and he did, if so slow you'd assume he was aged despite his youthful appearance.

It was then Ventus noticed a third chair was present at the table, one midway between the one he sat in and Shadow's in terms of grandeur. The lupine sat in his seat, not seeming to give either of the two a gaze. It was as if he was in solitary confinement rather than a meeting.

"I would like to introduce my biological son, Ventus. He's been in suspended animation for quite some time, but after much effort we were able to stabilise his condition and he will be able to rejoin us at last."

Ventus looked at the wolf just a wee bit closer... though the look was not returned, the ebony lupine focused on the desk as if a film was playing on the space before him.

"Due to the technicality of it all, Ventus... he is the true Crown Prince, preceding you both by conception and by blood relation."

Ventus' ears perked at that, batting Shadow a gaze, though Shadow's blood-stained irises were quick to avert his gaze.

"Don't feel upset. It's surprising... but on the bright side, it means you won't need to worry about the burdens of rulership... you will remain on board my government, of course... but will have far less stress."

Shadow kicked back, pushing his chair out, standing up and pacing to that window, gazing upon his own reflection in the glass, and the scenes of city life beneath. One of his claws lifted upward, giving them both the wave.

"You are free to go for the day. Your assignment is to become acquainted. It will certainly make for awkward dinner table conversation if brothers do not know eachother, yes?"

The pair's eyes did seem to meet... if only for a moment. The wolf and hedgehog did not know what to make of this.

"Now." Shadow's voice raised, forcing the two idling Mobians to shuffle out of their seats and towards the door.

"And Ventus?"

The emerald-furred rodent turned back to look at his stepfather.

"Be good to my son, and your brother..."

With war raging on above the Republic, and with the Rising Quill joining the side on kicking the dreamlanders. The Republic began to grow nervous and weary and stability of the region. With news of an alliance declared between the Rising Quill, The Tri Kingdom, and the Equestria, Hanna started to figure into the defense of her homeland "The Dreamlander's leadership are composed of non-Humans, why on earth would the Empire of the Rising Quill want to attack them" Hanna ponders. Looking at the map that resembles a game of Risk said to her Joint Chiefs of Staff "Gentlemen, now is the time to start thinking about our own national defense. We may have established contacts and defensive alliance with our neighbors, but we need to do our own part". One of her surface marshals suggested to offer a non-aggression pact to the Quill Alliance, Hanna with a distrust look on her face "I know Shadow's type, He promises you peace and prosperity then turns around and back stabs you and take what you own when you least expect it." Hanna stood up from her chair "I know a bully when I see one, even if one puts on a facade of benevolence."

Not to after her meeting with her Joint Chief's, she received a message from the Gulf Imperium "They've accepted our offer" Hanna said as she reads the letter, however Secretary of State Johnson interjected "But it's only a defensive alliance." Hanna, gave a hard look at her Secretary of State "The Republic is not an aggressive nation, we want a defensive alliance in case the poop hits the fan!" Hanna then took the elevator down to the lobby and met up with Tifa on their way to the nearby military base.

fmRwk.png

The Humvee, with the Chancellor inside, drove up to the landing area and the two disembarked. The soldiers in the base began to create a perimeter patrol around the landing zone. A Republic Heavy Trooper accompanied the Chancellor. Not to long after Hanna arrived, an Enclave Veribird appeared and landed infront of Hanna and Tifa. An Enclave Colonel disembarked the vertibird with two Enclave soldiers clad in their own power armor flanked the Colonel. "Welcome to the Republic of Coruscant" Hanna said as she greats the Colonel. "Indeed, same here" The Colonel said "Apparently you were right that Hawaii is occupied by... ...furries." The group then headed into the officers lounge in the military base.

The Colonel opens up his folder "Chancellor Hanna, President Gil Carnegie accepts your offer." Hanna then thanks the Colonel "It's good to have friends. Give my thanks to the President of the Enclave." she then continues "If we have known that there is a nation that holds xenophobic views against humans, we would have bolted to Nova Terra a long time ago and never bothered with this planet." The Colonel asks as Hanna opens a bottle of Corellian Ale "What is 'Nova Terra'?" Hanna, as she pours the drinks, answers "How shall I say, it's an Earth-clone that's under Republic control in a solar system lightyears away." The Colonel as he takes a sip "Interesting." The group left the officer's lounge, finished with the Corellian Ale "Well, It's time that I'd head back to my home. See you soon Chancellor Hanna." The Colonel said as he boarded his vertibird and took off back to his home nation.
