Crisis Update (4) – 2102
End of the Siamese Succession Crisis: A characteristically stiff Combine news presenter announced the death of Princess Malai on the Oceanic News Network. Her death was blamed on poisoning by persons associated with “known terrorist organisation the Fellowship”. J.R Tolkien, the pseudonym of the leader of the Fellowship, declared that the Fellowship was not behind the assassination and that it was most likely Zeimer’s fault. He further noted that if the Fellowship was in the position to assassinate people dining within Zeimer’s own residence, they would have just killed Zeimer at this point.
Prince Sakchai agreed with this sentiment, declaring in a press conference that Zeimer was “an enemy of the Siamese royal family” and that “all Oceanic military attaches would be executed immediately for treason”. Unknown to Sakchai, the Oceanic Intelligence Agency had snuck in an agent into his inner circle to keep an eye on him. This agent was fanatically loyal to Zeimer and was so enraged by Sakchai’s words that he shot him multiple times in the head, killing the Prince instantly. The agent was shot moments later.
With the death of both of their leaders at the hands of the Oceanic Combine, the Siamese Tigers turned into an angry and disorganised pogrom determined to kill any Oceanic citizens and any suspected Oceanic sympathisers. Of course, there were countless civilians caught in the crossfire. By the time Siamese and Japanese forces secured the region, it was too late, the population was decimated, and the cities were in ruins.
The Siamese War of Succession is over. Princess Saisthorn is the undisputed heir to the throne, at this point coronation is just a mere technicality. Yet this comes at an enormous personal cost to both the Princess and the nation. Vietnam, the country’s most populated region, has been devastated. And now Princess Saisthorn must bear the weight of the Siamese Crown alone, she is now the only living member of the primary branch of the Siamese Royal Family.
