Glatux has dropped as the player of the Liin Syndicate and has been NPCed. I will not be actively seeking a replacement for this nation but new players can feel free to rejoin as it.

The prophecies of Marx have been fulfilled once again. The reactionaries of Europe have moved against our peaceful Syndicate, just like they moved against the Paris Commune almost 250 years ago. We urge all right-thinking nations in the world to assist us in our struggle against the three evils - Christianity, Capitalism and Patriarchy.

We appreciate your timely intervention in the Soviet Civil War and your crippling of the German military. We would like to more closely coordinate our military efforts against the Greater German Republic.

You capitalist, patriarchal, Christian swine! This is a declaration of war! In the name of both Marx and Satan, we will bury you!

Ha.

Hahahahaha.

Hahahahahahahahaha.

Oh boy, good luck with that Lilin. Papa Bless.

Unfortunately its been proving too difficult to get a player for Siam and because Siam is already established in the diplomatic community, I'm just going to make Siam an NPC. I'm also going to lock new player signups for this turn. Expect a formal orders lock sooner rather than later.

OOC: thank you for the warning on orders lock, I'll try to get some orders in for myself its kinda difficult to get back into the swing of things when its been so long since I've played lol

The Combine wishes to give apologies about... communication difficulties. We will able to now resume diplomatic matters.

I'm going to announce that I'm going to enact the 48 hours orders lock again. I think I've resolved most of the difficulties that would cause me to delay the lock again, but I'll keep everyone updated if that doesn't turn out to be the case! I'll be sending out reminders soon.

I've been slipping. There's less than 24 hours until orders lock!

@christos200

The Priestess has decreed that war between our two nations is no longer desirable. She has given permission for our diplomats to sign a white peace on her behalf, as no major military engagements have yet occurred between our two nations.

We accept your offer of peace. May our two nations never fight again and may we become friends from now on.

MartinLuther has dropped, the Liberated Autonomous Appalachian Municipalities is now an NPC.

Disregard this message.

Of Gods and Emperors (Constantinople, Byzantine Empire): Jason and the Argo has begun to be worshipped by the Byzantine public as a God. This is completely unsurprising considering the religious beliefs of the Byzantine public and Jason’s actions. The question now is, will Jason accept the public’s belief that he is a God? Or will he shun them?

Emperor Adonis has been watching these events with keen interest. The Imperial Senate’s plot to keep the Emperor distracted through military hardware failed heavily, with the Emperor’s narcissism barely receding and his tantrums getting worse by the day. Emperor Adonis has been fascinated by Jason, but this fascination is unfortunately borne out of jealously. Jason is beloved by his subjects, who should be loving him! Not anyone else! If Jason confirms his Godhood, Emperor Adonis’ jealously will likely boil over into pure rage. If Jason denies Godhood, Emperor Adonis will likely be less angry but still intensely jealous.

FREE CHOICE:
  1. Jason confirms his Godhood. (New Stunt: “Jason, God of the Argo: When you invoke “Olympian Worshipping Hellenics” using a free invoke from “Gods Among Us” on a Force relating to a battle where Jason is participating, gain +4 instead of the usual +2 bonus from the invoke.” Emperor Adonis will not like that)
  2. Jason denies his Godhood (Byzantine Empire gains a new stunt relating to Jason chosen role in society. Emperor Adonis will still be jealous and will cause problems, but not quite as much)
As Jason steps off the Argo after driving off a spontaneous Dionysus romp, a devout citizen asks him the question he's been mentally preparing for since he vanquished Poseidon:

"Are you a god?"

He ponders his decision one final time. Yes, it is the best path to take.

"What is a god? A being of great power who demands worship. Our gods are arbitrary and fickle, but powerful nonetheless. I, too, am powerful. However, I do not demand worship. What I demand is justice. I wish to see our people freed from the yoke of cruel and indifferent beings.

I suppose if I had to describe myself in a word, it would be "titan." Strong like a god, but not unworthy of the position. I hope to continue to prove this in my defense of the Empire. The Olympians will be made to understand that they are not our masters any longer."

(Practically, confirm godhood by a different name.)

-----

A brave young scientist from Athens, conveniently named Theseus, was placed in charge of the autopsy of Poseidon. After performing the necessary rituals that were practically made up on the spot, he entered with a small team and braved the horrors of the belly of a god. After being separated from his increasingly smaller team, he came across a chamber containing what appeared to be a minor Olympian - unlike Poseidon, it was bipedal and had horns like a bull. Full of curiosity and awe, Theseus climbed onto this minion of Poseidon and very scientifically started poking it.

NPCing Norlisk this turn.

"There's something in the ice."

"Nonsense, its the moonlight playing tricks on you." Two men of Siberia are clambering along a steep slope not too far from the city walls. They are careful as to where they step as the eternal semi-night of the arctic winter means there path is lit only by moonlight.

"Evgeny," The younger of the two has a shake in his voice as he addresses his companion "I tell you there is something in the ice."

"Bah," Evgeny brushes off the concerns "Nothing can live in that water, and even if it could it is nothing for us to worry about." The frozen pool in question is one of toxic water that fills what was once an open pit mine. It is a deep black surrounded on all sides by the steeps slopes that betray its old purpose. Far below them the moonlight does shine off the poisonous ice in quite the interesting way.

"What about the machines?" asks the young man "Surely they can survive down there still?"

"Machines, men, animals - all eventually die here. This land is poison and freezing death."

Broadcast on the Citizens' Network News Service
The Citizens' Network News Services would like to remind all citizens that the lands outside the walls can be unsafe to travel in. Be it toxic waste, the dangers of the exclusion zones or the nefarious influence of consumerism, there are simply put many dangers that ordinary citizens should not expose themselves to. Leave this business to the brave men and women of the Bureau of Citizenship and Security - they work to keep all citizens safe and free.

Hi everyone. This is news which you are probably not wanting to hear but won't be surprised about either. I'm officially ending this game.

I feel bad about ending yet another game like this but I am struggling to find the time or the motivation to continue updating. The goals I had set out for this game, trying to rejuvenate the "Classic IOT", were not met with the ruleset I accidentally straightjacketed myself with. Even if this game's ruleset wasn't fundamentally flawed, I don't think these types of games are the types of games I would like to continue moderating for various reasons. I may be interested in participating in a nation-based "serious" IOT as a player, but not as a moderator. I do intend to run games in the future if I can find the time to do so before the collapse of civilisation, but they will likely be very far removed from something like IOT XXIII.

I want to thank everyone who participated in this game and apologise to everyone who was looking forward to its continuation, especially the people who I convinced to join the game this turn.

Peace.
