I looked at your user title "Habworlds" and suddenly thought if that was the name of the star colonies administrated by an Austrian Empire that never fell. That would probably fit into a Victorian steampunk game IN SPACE. :)

Nyaa! Rainbow Dash! I was gonna change my avatar for an image of my RD t-shirt...

I... must... obey. :assimilate:

Ugh. Send in the clones, anyone?

[](/awwyeah) We can deal with changelings, you know.

I'll try on this theme for a while.

Was the Victorian era during the same time as the steam era IRL?

Not particularly knowledgable of the era but I would say they strongly overlapped, yes.

Well, the idea of a punk genre to find out what the leading technology is and assume that all the cool stuff uses that technology. For instance, the tombs of Tihocan and Qualopec that Lara Croft explores are classic examples of stonepunk, whereas Leonardo's inventions in Assassin's Creed might be classed as clockpunk (if you ignore the whole precursor angle).

The two technologies that I would say are most closely associated with the 19th Century are steam-power and gaslight, so hence the term 'steampunk'. You can check out the anime Steamboy for another classic example.

George Stephenson builds Locomotion 1825

Queen Victoria r. 1836-1901

Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Great Western Railway begins operation 1838

Prussian forces suppress Saxon revolutionaries in railborne campaign 1849

Elements of XI and XII Corps, Army of the Potomac, shipped from Manassas to Chattanooga in five days to take part in the Battle of Lookout Mountain 1863

US transcontinental railway construction completed 1869

Trans-Siberian Railway constructed 1891-1916

...yes, I'd say that Victoria's reign overlapped quite nicely with the Age of Steam.

Spoiler Future sig, and I need a place to put this :
"Feles deliberatissimae subiugare humanitiati sunt, et res solae quae eas desinunt canes sunt."
Translates as "Cats are the most determined to subjugate the human race, and the only things which are stopping them are dogs."
