INES IV: Born Yesterday (Turn Zero)

'Russian' Manchuria part of your reach, I believe. Oops.

Kozmos, aside from the (thusly changed) free area list, there's some room in Eastern Europe north of Egyptian Greece, east of French Illyria, west of Russia, and south of the Baltic. Geopolitically, I recommend you (or someone else) takes something around Iran.

I have decided to create a small history of the neighbors of Texas. Subject to change should a player decide to take a region or the mod decides he wants to change it.

Dixie: Dixie started as an Chinese colony but due to the heavy slave trade, the Africans quickly found themselves in a superior position and gained independence and settled most of the south, from Virginia to Florida, even going all the way to east Texas. Dixie was for a time the preeminent power of North America, boasting the largest population of any country in North America, including the colonies of European countries. During the Texan Revolution their power had been in decline as several other nations expanded their borders and consolidated their power base. With the Texan Revolution done and a new threat on their western border Dixie agreed to a friendship when it became obvious that the Syndicate to the north wanted to subjugate them. Texas supported Dixie and after a bloody 6 year struggle all powers involved agreed it was best if hostilities ceased, so peace was signed and Texas received Louisiana and Mississippi as payment from Dixie for using Texan forces. Several years later the Caribbean Federation decided they wanted Florida, so war resumed again. This time, to support their war, Dixie sold Arkansas to Texas for a tidy sum, which prolonged the war for another 2 years before Dixie finally admitted defeat and ceded Florida. Ever since Dixie has been supported by Texas, even though Texas didn't always seem to be looking out for their best interests.

Cheyenne Tribal Federation:
The Cheyenne Warriors were fierce people, while they may fight with bows and arrows and with a steep and proud military tradition they continued to defy the white people and their modern guns and equipment. If it wasn't for the support of a modern Apache Nation the Cheyenne may have become a footnote of history. With modern guns and equipment, along with Texan trained Apache Warriors, the Cheyenne stopped the Syndicate and continued to retain the Great Plains which comprises of the region which holds the modern states of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and North and South Dakota. The Tribal Federation of the Cheyenne may still retain their old ways and are still considered a backwater nation by other nations, they are still a tough and proud people who hold a strategic part of the continent.

Apache Nation (Dependent of Texas): The Apache Nation are a dependent nation of Texas, the Apache still adhere to Federal Texas Law and still pay taxes to Texas but they run their Nation as an independent entity free of Texan Political influence. The Apache have their own military force, though smaller than those of Texas it belongs to the Apache and is staffed by Apache with Texan educated Apache Generals. Anyone who visits Apache Nation would see little trace of Texas if any and many proud warriors would say they were free people. Unlike their Cheyenne brothers these warriors are modern, they have been schooled in the art of warfare by Texan troops and their generals are the equal of the best Texas has. The only thing keeping the Apache in Texas' protection is the fact that they are small and their small force would not stand long against nations in Mexico or even Texas itself. And why would they leave, Texas grants them every thing they want, their own self governing body? Done. Their own police force? Done. Of course Texas does have their own demands, but the Apache feel the balance is fair and a long cooperative friendship has blossomed.

I decided to hold off any on the West Coast, or those centered in the Rockies, as well as any in Mexico for now. I might do those later if nobody claims those.

Helpful! Only thing that seems off there is that Dixie--or whatever it will be called--was probably never Chinese. Some of Terrance888's proud Malinke could come to the New World as landowners before rebelling from Mother Africa.

The map is coming along.

Mugala (मुगल) Empire/Optical (Grounder, Industrious)

SpecTech: None
Army: 10 divisions
Navy: 10 squadrons

Background: Traditional Tengri religion of the Mongols, or Mughals, in India was replaced by Hinduism rather than Islam, a fact which gave the former steppe nomads' empire increased longevity, greater acceptance and enabled assimilation of Hindu areas further east.

History: On its way!
Neighbor Suggestions: China (obviously), some sort of Persian nation, any regional colonial powers
Capital: Khanakasahara (OTL Lahore)
Core Lands: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Burma, eastern Iran and parts of Central Asia
Reach Lands: Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan

Federal Kingdom of Shengzhou(生洲聯邦王國)/Krzowwh (Industrious, Patriotic)
Government: Federal Constitutional Monarchy (55%)
ASP: 3
GenTech: G0.N0.A0.B0.E0
SpecTech: None
Army: 10 divisions
Navy: 10 squadrons
Air Force: 10 groups
Background: Shengzhou is a diverse nation originally descended from a mixture of Chinese and Vietnamese settlers and the indigenous population during the 15th and 16th centuries. With a long history as a unique monarchy, it became an independent nation in 1730, and remains influential in its region today.

History:
Spoiler :
Zheng He traveled across the great Eastern Sea and discovered Yingzhou, founding colonies towards the north in search for riches. As his ships traveled southwards, he came across the land which is today Shengzhou. Believing it to be a separate landmass from that of the Tongjing Colony, he gave this land the name Shengzhou, derived from Taoist legend as one of the continents that lay to the west, accompanying Yingzhou. His crew built their final settlement, called Fangzhang, for another legendary island as well as its foundation around a Buddhist temple, in the northwest coast of Shengzhou.

Although his brother the Hongxi Emperor opposed travel towards the East, Prince Zhu Gaoxi had left before his rise to the throne, and was allowed to stay in Shengzhou for the remainder of his life. In Prince Zhu Gaoxi's first expedition, it was discovered that they were in fact one landmass, allowing for cheaper travel from the Fangzhang Colony to those of the north. Prince Zhu Gaoxi would later explore the indigenous nations and reach the eastern coast of Shengzhou.

The Shengzhou colonies would remain loyal to the Ming dynasty, ruled as colonial lands by descendants of Prince Gaoxi. Initially Shengzhou was only consisted of the coastal colonies. The royal family would soon intermarry into the local dynasties, including that of Tenochtitlan and Tlatelolco, becoming the dominant leader of the region.

However, news of the fall of the Ming dynasty came to Shengzhou in the late 17th century, and the royal dynasty in Shengzhou realized that having a monarchy is dangerous for the security of the state. In February 1730, the then King of Shengzhou, the Quanzhong King, declared the nation independent of China and declared a federation of provinces ruled by elected governors, ruled underneath the King, who would continue to reign, but limited at a provincial level.

Neighbor Suggestions: Besides those already existing, one to two Great Plains nations, possibly indigenous, to the north. Maritime nation towards the south, perhaps a monarchy.
Capital: Shengjing/生京 (Tenochtitlan)
Core Lands: Northern border is the Sonoran Desert and Chihuahua Desert; Southern border is OTL Nicaragua
Reach Lands: Colorado Plateau, Rio Grande Region, Mojave Desert, Isthmus of Panama

Man, lots of these nations get their independence between 1730 and 1750.
Well, most of the OTL Americas became independent in 1810-1830. I suppose it wouldn't make as much sense for the dates to be so clustered when many of the nations had minimal contact with their home countries, but it's plausible enough.

Core Lands: Eastern Canada, New England
Reach Lands: The parts of Canada not currently claimed by anyone, Upstate New York.

Yeah... sorry I think I got confused with Terrance's avatar and the name he used for the African country. If you decide to create a NPC Dixie type nation and use my history, just replace Chinese with Africans.

BILLSIF, why would they call it Ericsson City? Ericsson is just a patronymic for Eric the Red. A more likely name, if you're going to name it after the first European to arrive in the New World, might be 'Leifstad' or 'Leifrborg'. Also, how do they possess Alaska, given that there are several thousand kilometers of boreal forest and impassable waters between central Canada and Alaska?

Oh, thanks for the correction on the name.
And Alaska was me just seeing if I can get away with it. :p

Edit:And my lack of knowledge on what "Central Canada" refers to, will fix that right now.

Welcome to Krzowwh and BILLSIF! I’ll probably post one more partial map, but there is a little less than 24 hours before the nation creation deadline comes at 16:00 EST/21:00 BST Thursday. Areas that could still fit new countries include Korea/Japan/Siberia, Central Asia/Western Persia, Thailand/Sumatra/Borneo, the Horn of Africa, Central Africa, Hungary/Romania/Bulgaria/Serbia, and possibly Peru.

Given that we have our second (probably) innocent conflict, I’m planning on giving Tambien mostly Dravidian India plus Sri Lanka, and Optical mostly Aryan India plus some to-be-determined extras. TLK gets exclaves on the coast. Speak now if you are a relevant party and this is horrible for some reason--it’s going on the map soon.

Speaking of colonies, I’m planning on giving…

Malinke - Gran Colombia
Iberia – Morocco, coastal Angola, coastal Mozambique, Philippines, Taiwan
France – Algeria, possibly Libya, lots of desert, the Indian exclaves, and a good chuck of Indochina (No, TLK does not get extra ASP for this. France starts off a very poor colonial empire)
Union of Britain – South Africa, Falklands, Gibraltar

Remember, if your core is large, you are not guaranteed all of it. Comments about unfinished portions of the map will be paid heed; comments about finished portions of the map will probably be ignored for the sake of efficiency. This is a public service announcement.

I’m a little amused so few of you dare not to be Industrious.

Regarding Industriousness Imago, take that as a challenge for you to run the game long enough to make Industriousness experience its diminishing returns. ;)

Also, I picked my traits without checking the start date or what the traits actually meant... industrious just seemed to fit better than creative or patriotic.

ALSO the Falklands have been part of Tilabaiinke since time immemorial, give them back. ;)

Why would France have Algeria or Libya? Why wouldn't Egypt, the nation it borders, have it :p

take that as a challenge

This game might actually run for quite a bit of time. I've been doing planning with my schedule. Incidentally, even though the first update is probably going to show up next Friday, the order deadline will be on Wednesday, to give me flexibility.

ALSO the Falklands have been part of Tilabaiinke since time immemorial, give them back.

Exactly the reason I gave Taiwan to Iberia.

Why would France have Algeria or Libya? Why wouldn't Egypt, the nation it borders, have it

Because you get Malta. :p

Would I(beria) be pressing my luck if I asked for colonies in Japan? Maybe just something like the two southernmost of the main islands?

We will see. You don't have priority, but if no one goes to Japan, giving you Kyushu seems interesting.

I might be biased, but I'm not sure if Britain should have Gibraltar, since it's not really a "colony" in the same way the other colonies are. Since there was not War of the Spanish[Iberian] Succession in this timeline, I don't see any reason why Iberia should've ceded it to Britain...
