Internet Vigilantism

You're right, but probably not in the way you think you are.

That number is true, but...

While the September 11, 2001, attacks were perpetrated by foreign violent extremists, from September 12, 2001 through December 31, 2016, attacks by domestic or “homegrown” violent extremists in the United States resulted in 225 fatalities, according to the ECDB. Of these, 106 were killed by far right violent extremists in 62 separate incidents, and 119 were victims of radical Islamist violent extremists in 23 separate incidents.

True, and how many times have I been called "misogynistic", "bigoted", "white supremacist", "a neo-nazi", "wants poor people to lose health insurance", "wants poor people to not have education" etc? These are the shaming tactics.

If you don't like being shamed, here's a tip: quit saying shameful things.

This is what makes me sickest about white supremacists. They act all courageous about spewing their hatred, but when they get confronted they make these "oh but I'm not a white supremacist" mamby pamby denials.

So it is ok to eradicate all hate groups like North Korea, the klan, white supremacist, and pro-choice groups who hate the invasion of their territory? And the best reason is because we hate what they stand for?

The problem is the eradication part, is it not? We want to rid the earth of that which is not us. Is it not eradication that is the point of moral outrage?

Except I'm not a "white supremacist", that's just a made up straw man. I've never seen ANYBODY self describe as a "white supremacist". And they are quite literally expressing the opposite of "hate" -- love for their heritage. Fake news.

False equivalence. Identities of people marching in public is not private information. Home addresses are.

So you (and the public) know the identities of people walking down the street? She's advocating the exposure of marchers' private information.

And I may have been a bit premature calling the driver a murderer and terrorist, I should wait for his side of the story.

her address aint relevant to the story

how do you know the identity of somebody walking down the street?

You post their photo on the internet asking others to identify them and where they work and live.

...for which they will use other information that was likely made available publicly by the person in question.
Don't really see a problem with the concept itself, it's basically just modern "detective work".

The fact that they'll misfire and hurt innocent people is the real problem.

I claim BS.

The Muslim portion of the report [Table 2] begins with the Washington DC Beltway snipers. However, investigators ruled out religion as a motive there.
There is a killing of a father and a killing of a neighbor. So?
There are a series of related drive-by shootings. The killers are unknown. :crazyeye:
There is the Orlando nightclub killing of 86 gays and lesbians. Religion is only 1 of 3 possible motives. On the day of the shooting, he claimed allegiance to ISIS, although no contact with the group can be found. His father reported he became enraged at seeing two men kiss, implying an anti-gay motive. Patrons of the gay nightclub report he frequented the club, opening the possibility that he was a jilted lover.

Warned for flaming.

The guy was in contact with the likes of Moner Mohammad Abusalha, who in 2014 flew to Syria to blow himself up, that's your connection to Islamic terrorism right there. It is correct that he was not actually in contact with the "main Isis group", but he never claimed to be. He named Abusalha and some other people as his inspiration when he called the police during the act, and that he committed his act for Isis, not that he was "contracted" by them.

But yeah. Homophobia was probably part of the reason he chose the night club. Do you know btw, that Islamists generally are not in favor of same-sex relationships? In this one case we can go even further and say that Muslims in general are not very fond of same-sex relationships.

Also, 86 gays and lesbians? Where did you even get that number from? 49 were killed in his attack.

Then of course you also mention that no contact with the ISIS could be found as a counter argument, but that random guy who claimed that Omar frequented the club for which the police did not find any evidence whatsoever is somehow a credible, alternative explanation in your mind. That's very nonsensical, and a clear case of selective reasoning to get to the conclusion that you want to arrive at.

Overall your post was very pathetic, it is a collection of utter failures, and you should be ashamed of having published it on the internet. Reflect on your biases and next time, and think about why you felt the need to create this shameful attempt at claiming that Orlando was not done by an Islamic extremist, when you obviously don't know what you're even talking about.

Ahh... that was fun. :D

Sounds sketchy, I don't support it. Let the authorities deal with it.

That is my basic attitude as well.

Doing it yourself will only polarise the society further and the inevitable mistakes will create martyrs as turbo boosters on top for all sides.
Once the "normal" citizens get really fed up with the turmoil, the call for a "strong" leadership will grow at the expense of a good government.

Problem is that neither left or right seem to have much trust in the authorities, encouraging to take things in your owns hands.
The current police force infested with people from low to high that do not understand that they are the strong arm for justiceship.
Or abuse their position to enforce their own primitive opinions... AND get away with that.

I don't know the details of this, but Nazis being exposed is not a bad thing. If you don't want your picture to show up on you marching at a Nazi rally then maybe don't show up marching with the Nazis in the first place.

I must say I'm surprised/disappointed with Colorado. My understanding was the white people there were very liberal.

It's fine to identify him. You shouldn't post his home address or medical records though.

The question becomes "how is he identified?" If I post his name, in this case, we could call him identified. If his name is "Tim Scott" posting that may not identify him. I use that example because Tim Scott is a screen name I use, is also the name of a US Senator who is not me, and also turns out to be the first and middle name of a registered sex offender who is also not me. On my local news site there is confusion on this issue, because a name is not sufficient to identify but certain parties really really want to believe I'm the sex offender.

In the situation at hand we are talking about white supremacists that in at least some cases have traveled across numerous states to reach a rally. Just attaching a name to them creates an immediate risk of misunderstandings harming people of similar name.
