There is a more simple solution than turning this into a referendum. Just take a goddamn minute to go to the NES/IOT subforum so you can join the IOT/NES you want! No need for having them all at one subforum.

If we merge because people are too lazy to check the other subforum, then I request that Civ IV Story and Tales be merged with IOT because I want to read Civ IV stories but I am too lazy to look at that subforum. If you find this crazy, then it is pot calling kettle black.

Okay, I'm going to try to explain what my goal was in bringing this up and answer some inquiries.

I am not expecting to merge with NES all in one day. My goal was to restart discussions to bring IOT and NES closer together. This can mean a lot of things, but doesn't necessarily mean we have to gungho it out and decide IOT and NES must be completely separate forever.

The voices crying out against this all seem to be going on the assumption that NES is still unwilling to even think about cooperating, which in turn makes those people making these assumptions unwilling to even think about cooperating. It's one thing to learn from the past, it's quite another to hold onto it so much. Things change, and I believe this is one of those things.

About the PM, I said several times I'm not releasing it until I get consent from the other party, which I'm still waiting on. If you're going to be impatient and demand the details, you can ask them yourself. Thlayli said in public if you want details regarding proposals happening in NES about various topics, you can PM him about it to find out everything. EQ, I'll remind you all he's a mod now, confirmed everything Thlayli said. I'll also remind you all that this is not in private, this is the newest post in the thread I referred to from the get-go, the IOT game information thread in NES.

Regarding the argument about "being lazy," you're completely missing the point. The point isn't the effort it takes to go to the other forum, the point is to establish ties and make amends with NES. As communities. If you guys seriously don't want to consider that as an option, you might want to rethink how different the gungho faction of NES's past and the IOT community at present actually are.

I don't know where anyone got the idea that NESes and IOTs are basically the same (or very similar), they're completely different - To get an idea, End of Empires has been around since 2008 - that's before IOTs even existed - and it's still ongoing! The oldest ongoing IOT started a month and a half ago.

End of Empires hasn't run continuously. It's gone inactive multiple periods throughout its lifespan, and it's updates are often months apart. To wit in the six years it's run there have only been in the neighborhood of thirty updates.

Not that it isn't a great game; it most certainly is. It's just not valid the way you're arguing it
