Iroqi Communication Thread

Well, speaking of losing a city, Fort Carbonperoxides is in serious danger.

I suggest we try to make peace now.

I thought we already were???? are we not just going to reply we accept to the iroqi peace treaty so we could get on with it?

I thought that we were stalling to be able to do what ever it was that we wanted to do in the jungle before we signed peace, but Iguess with the situation in Ft. Carbon we might want to hurry that along, especially since if they feel in a mean mood they might wait until they raze our city.

Basically, the last two posts are both right. We were leaning towards accepting the peace treaty but stalling to get our settler down to grab the southern incense. If the Iroqi realize they can take our city they may withdraw their peace proposal for now. We'll have to wait and see.

Here's the message I sent to Robi D:

Greetings General Robi D,

My people have authorized me accept your proposed zones of control provided there are no restrictions on building cities in the Sacred Jungle. Your women are in our capital and ready to return to you along with currency. A formal in game offer has been sent. We await your reply.

Thats a bit lucky then, still think we should move the military units around as i said in the other treaty just incase they decide to turn on us once we have signed.

Just to avoid confusion - the message above is one I sent to the Iroqi. We haven't heard back from them about whether they still want peace or not.

Greetings General Robi D,

I am writing to inform you that your current incursion into our territory makes it difficult for us to continue to negotiate peace with you. Your little foray is causing my government no end of trouble. Even the Iroqi women have run away. They are believed to be somewhere in the vicinity of Semtex. We haven't quite figured out if they are running from us or from you but if you happen to find them please take them back to Iroq with you. I assume your mounted warriors will be returning home soon, will they not? If they choose to linger north of the Sacred Jungle I do not see how our peace talks can continue.

As for the Sacred Jungle itself, we had considered abandoning our new city there but decided to give your people one last chance to show their desire for peace. We have left the city in place. Should you decide to leave it in peace we will remember that well and will offer you more lenient terms for the proposed peace treaty. If you attack the city you will not have it. Since it is small and backward it will only disappear under your attack. If that happens we will not accept peace until we rebuild the city, even if that means driving you and your forces from the Sacred Jungle once and for all.

Finally, I would like to encourage you and your people to forsake your heathen gods in favor of the one true supreme being.

Seems good, after finally beating them in a couple of battles they may think that the war is turning against them, that with the fairly solid defences we now have we should be able too get peace fairly quickly.

To all the people of TNT,

Today you have witnessed the power of Doughnutia's army. You have lost 2 cities, but there is no need to lose more, we are willing to offer you a peace agreement that has been previous discussed.

If you choose to fight on, be aware this is only a part of Doughnutia's military capabilities, so expect many more of Doughnutia's warriors on your doorsteps very soon.

It sounds like Carpetbomb is gone. Going to look at the save now and will post screenies in the pre-turn discussion thread. Don't know about the rest of you but I say (without even looking at the save) that we do not accept their peace offer.

EDIT: I think I'll reject this offer:

lurker's comment: What is your reasoning for not accepting the peace-offer? To me it seems that TNT is on a crash course if it stays at war. Peace will be good for TNT's industious trait; war isn't.

Whoever said there war is a reasonable thing? We offered them generous terms (currency and their worker for 25 gold). I also offered to trade them republic for monarchy as a bribe to avoid the sacking of Fort Carbonperoxides. They chose to continue the war so their could press their current advantage. Their reasoning was based on two things. First, they wanted revenge for Cruller. (A city they destroyed!). Second, they now think they can beat us in the war. They should have seen that by destroying Carpetbomb they only extend the cycle. Now we want revenge. They should also know from their own experience in defending against invasion that it takes more than a few scattered units to truly hurt an opponent. They destroyed two of our cities that weren't even part of our war effort. We built a wonder, a temple and three libraries once we set aside the idea of invading them. Just because they got lucky in some battles and snuck in when we were no longer taking the war seriously doesn't mean we cannot continue this war successfully. With the Greeks and Galls heading for war I think we can afford to continue fighting.

Maybe I'm still just angry. It is a good idea to poll this question.

No! i strongly disagree, right now this war is a lost cause, nearly every city we have is in anarchy, we need to agree to that peace treaty, it is not so hard to rebuild them 2 cities and is not a huge setback, that was only 55% of their force which means that they have been focusing their building on military meaning we should have a better infrastructure than them so declaring peace would be the best option we can easily excell in tech with the alliance of science and come back and hunt them down with knights/cavalry. we simply cannot afford to keep fighting as right now we dont have the force to make a suitable invasion therefore defensive fighting is somply pointless.

We must be careful not to make the same mistakes they did. When we stumbled upon Cruller they panicked. They were afraid for a long time that we had a stack of immortals ready to rip them apart. We found it takes more than just offensive units to mount a successful invasion. Let's not panic and run to the peace table with our tale between our legs!

If nine MWs were 55% of their offensive power we're close to eliminating half of it! We've killed two MWs. The three in the north are trapped and we can kill them in two turns. We should be able to kill another this turn in the jungle. This is the perfect time to fight a defensive war. Let them bring their MWs up against our pikemen. In the meantime we pump out horsemen, run them down south as fast as we can, unite them with the six pikemen we have down there and take this war back to them.

Our cities are rioting because we lost two luxuries and had to use some mps to repel their incursion. All we have to do is up the lux rate ten percent this turn. We can have furs next turn and ivory a couple after that when we resettle Carpetbomb. We can even send the Iroqi women down to make a colony on the gems. The rioiting is unfortunate but not a serious long term problem.

But thats just it, why dont we do all that during peace time and crank out the units in greater numbers, with the industrious trate we will have higher productivity and therefore can let loose on them hordes of warriors instead of trickles, yes we have destroyed a few of theres but just what are we gaining from fighting a defensive war??? absolutly nothing, if we act weaker than we are we will have an overconfident neighbour on our hands who will let things slip.

we really should try to sign peace as soon as possible. after we kill the 3 northern MW's, we should go to the peace table. there's no reason to want "revenge" in a computer game. don't get so angry at them, donsig, they're just playing the game. we should get peace soon, build up our cities with libraries and units, and then kill them off centuries from now, when MIA is capable of helping us. :)

Official communique from the Grand Vizeer:

Greetings General Robi D,

My people have decided to grant peace to your people under the terms previously negotiated.. I was unable to formally complete and accept the peace offer you sent due to the fact that we had to round up the old Iroqi women still among us. You know how long it takes women to get ready to go anywhere. They put up a fuss, ranting all along that they wanted to go to the land of green where the real men are. We ignored their ravings and were successful in the end. They are all packed and ready to return to you. We are also sending along currency (a fine technology) per the agreement previously discussed. I have accepted the in game treaty and if you do so as well then we will have peace immediately. If you are unable to include the 25 gold with the acceptance of the treaty you can gift it to us after the treaty is in force. We can have peace in time for the one hundredth turn of Meleet and we can party like it's 1999.

We expect your remaining military units north of the Sacred Jungle to withdraw to your zone of control in an orderly and timely manner in accordance with the proposal you made. We have not units south of the Sacred Jungle. We must reaffirm one aspect of your proposal regarding the neutrality of the Sacred Jungle. We are both free to have any units in the Sacred Jungle and we are free to settle cities there as we see fit, are we not?

Let the Slipshod Battle be the last of this wasteful war.

Grand Vizeer donsig,

We are happy to hear to you have accepted our proposal for peace. The remaining element of CR squad will be withdrawn, however it wont be direct as i suspect you would not like us going through the middle of your territory. They will head west until the clear your borders around Semtex before proceeding south. You are free to monitor their departure if you wish.

As to your question about the netural zone that is the (sacred) jungle. Both nations are free to move around any part of the jungle with whatever units they wish to use, unless they infringe on national border. Both nations are also free to develop in the jungle area as they wish.
