Iroqi Communication Thread

We only have a few turns to extend our treaty with the Nutters. At the very least we need to keep them neutral in the Gallic War. What do you all think about offering them gems to extend the peace treaty for twenty turns?

one luxury in exchange for them not attacking us while we still got those pesky Galls to deal with? i can live with a few Iroqi being slightly happier if we survive the Gallic invasion. :D give them the gems for 20 turns of peace.

i'm not sure. maybe wait for the save to go around 1 more time, and if they don't reply then, send a message offering gems for 20 turns of peace.

why not try and secure a lasting peace, half a century like MIA have done, maybe we should be considering getting the nutters on our side?

I agree with BCLG100 but we might have to take things a small step at a time. It's time to send a message to the Iroqi asking for an extension of our peace treaty in exchange for gems. Strider, will you write up a mesaage and send it?

Also, should I send gems and 'accept' this turn even before we hear from the Iroqi?

^ ditto. we should wait to hear from them before we start handing out our fine Gems to the Iroqi. :p

Let's also pin down when our extented peace treaty actually ends. Also, if the danger from the Galls is not so great then perhaps we should let a pike or two do an about face and go back to guarding our luxury cities.

why does everyone think the danger has passed??? there are still 6 swordsmen on our territory that we have no idea where the majority are, we need to defend out core cities still!

Well when you killed almost half, then I think there is cause for a more lighthearted chatter in the knowlege that the iniatilly dark days are past.

but they still have a fair few of them wandering around in the fog, we still need to be protecting up top more than down south.

I'm just worried that if we leave our southern flank in such a weakened state we're asking for trouble. No only does it invite an Iroqi attack, but those Galls can land in the south just as easily as they did in the north.

Of course, getting a signed peace treaty with the Iroqi lessens these worries. Ambassador Strider, are you here?

Do we want to wait untill they reply, or send a message right now?

Let's send a new message. In our last one we asked thenm to ally with us and they didn't even answer. So let's write to them again and ask when our treaty expires. (You can tell them we don't want to be late when the war starts up again. ) Better yet, write up a formal treaty and send it to them. Make it simple: Iroq and Iron agree to extend their current peace treaty and agreement till turn 141 and Iron will give Iroq gems until turn 141. (The turn numbers may have to be adjusted, the idea is that we'll give them gems for 20 turns and in return they agree to another twenty turns of peace under the same agreement we already have in place.)

I know its an act of goodwill etc but why are we giving them ivory for nothing, i appreciate we dont need another war but neither do they so we should be getting at least something in return.

What should we ask for? A luxury for a luxury?

Maybe or perhaps some workers or something along those lines? I dont mean we should be aggressive with our policy but we do need to not seem that week by just gifting them a luxury.
