ISDG 2012 - Server Announcements, Connection Issues and Questions

Team civforum.de can also not connect.
We are stuck in an endless loop of "connected to host".

BTW, this is the civ network log of our connection attempt.

It looks like the IP of the server is resolved and a contact with the pitboss app is established but our civ client is not satisfied with the connection to the pitboss application itself .

Maybe helpful for you..

Advice: use the microsoft method first, reboot system ;)
Maybe some invalid state due to your ISP problems ?

The entire server seems to have crashed, as I am unable to connect to it via RDP. I have no time to debug it right away, but will look into it within a few hours.

Thank you all for reporting it :)

ISDG Reloaded from Recovery save Inao - 09:35 am GMT+02

The entire server had crashed/frozen. No idea why, and I haven't got the time to look into it at the moment either. But the server and the game is back up now :)

Team civforum.de can confirm that, connection is possible again.

Thank you for the help, caledorn..

Game is down because of a thunderstorm. Yep, this marks the happy start of *that* season again :P

The game is back up now.

To Team RB: It appears that I kicked your turnplayer from the game, and I must apologise for that. :( I hope you're okay with the fact that I did not have time to see if anyone were logged in as the time interval from the lightning flash to the thunder crash was just 5 seconds, so it was really close.

Important

I have a failing harddrive in my server. This harddrive happens to be the disk where the Pitboss games are saved on. I have been able to copy out the Pitboss files from the disk, thankfully, so no save games are lost. But this means I need to take down the game and replace that disk. :wallbash:

The problem is that that very disk is the disk that also contains the operating system, though on a different partition. So I need to clone the OS partition before I take things offline, so I can reclone the operating system onto a different harddrive. I can't do this now, as it's too late for me to start such a big process now. I will leave the game online for now, but the second game that I am hosting keeps crashing with corrupted savegames. :(

Just as an FYI: I have moved the games over to a different disk for the time being, so they are now running safely.

Tried again and could connect this time. sorry for false alarm :)

Great to hear :) No worries about the false alarm. It's better to check than the game being down, and I am dependent upon everyone giving feedback if something doesn't work as I don't pick it up unless the entire server goes down. :)

Just recently the game crashed as our turnplayer was in the game. He was thrown out of the game and our nation got retired to AI.

We informed the game host, then went and claimed back our civ and paused waiting for admin decision on reload to our last autosave before the converting to AI.

And I just had the game hang while logging in (no game-play changes made, so the most recent Realms Beyond login can be safely disregarded), and had to force quit.

The game had crashed entirely on the server. I'll just leave it down until plako gets back to me, unless any teams object of course.
