No, its because the east is boring. We all know how China is like, and there are only 3 or 4 major players in east Asia aswell. Not nearly exciting as war torn Europe, which houses over 5 players.

Look around - discontent minorities aside, most people praise the Western culture and its democratic virtues. That's largely because USA, a Western nation, is, as of now, the winner.
And alex, one of the things I wrote was in Greece (which is in the Mediterranean Sea=OTL Eastern Mediterranean).
