James Eagan Holmes in OWS? Put up or shut up.

1. Stalin has done plenty of things that I don't approve of. Just because he promoted economic equality does not make him a good leader in all ways.
He wasn't even very good on that account. Stalin did quite a good job at entrenching the power of the nomenklatura in the Soviet state.

2. I'm personally all for the removal of private property, for the record. Again, this should be done through a democratically elected communist government. It should not be done through hacking, rioting in the streets, or any other illegal means.
To play the radical leftist, illegal under whose laws? The same entity whose existence is based on the preservation of the current system based around private property?
In such a situation do you honestly believe the established authority would allow such a challenge to their continued authority?

I am all for racial equality, but I think Malcolm X was an idiot because of his violent ways. The same could be applied here.
So disagreeing with someone's methods makes them an idiot?

My mistake. I thought promoting financial equality was one of his few redeeming qualities, but apparently he failed to do even that.

Illegal under the laws that have been democratically put in place. And they could just as easily be democratically put out of place.

In such a situation do you honestly believe the established authority would allow such a challenge to their continued authority?

If a new power comes into office who makes new laws, everyone has to abide by them whether they like it or not.

So disagreeing with someone's methods makes them an idiot?

Certainly.

Interestingly, Malcolm X renounced violence and racism when he converted to Islam and made the pilgrimage to Mecca. Islam is truly a religion of peace. :mischief:

While I admire your upright nature, I think you both severely underestimate the resistance the status quo will show towards the democratic removal of their privilege, including extralegal methods, as well as show undue respect for something you ostensibly find morally reprehensible and/or socially destructive.

Who cares? He was a racist and hateful person for long enough. Would you forgive an ex neo-nazi just because they have "seen the light"?

First and foremost, I would disagree with you that they would be able to prevent government force for them to follow the new law. More importantly, they are HACKERS. Even in a communist government, their would still be computers. They would still hack. Regardless of what system of government there is, as long as there are computers there will be hackers. Why defend hackers?

Anonymous hacked PSN and thus got the playstation network shut down, ruining the fun for millions of gamers. Is this something you would stand behind?

Excuse me if I have a real hard time believing that. Especially around here.

You asked me a question and I gave you an honest answer. The fact that you don't believe it, is not my problem.

So this is about punishment and not rehabilitation? That's an awfully illiberal thing to say.

I agree with the left on most things, but I do not follow 100% of their views like a mindless robot.

I don't think it's him, but I've included it in the interest of fairness.

Holmes has a "sharper" look to his face. The OWS person being arrested has a rounder face.

Umm in the interest of face recognition that is not him. It is immediately obvious by the difference in nose geometries.

It wouldn't change my opinion.
