I can read the writing on the wall, these will be the candidates for the two main parties :goodjob: I think Hillary's expertize on foreign policy comes from her husband Bill and he was a disaster, little doubt he advised a yes vote on Iraq.

She should be sharing a prison with Shrub and Cheney and quite a few other people for lying us into war. But Jeb was supposed to be the smart Bush and he's peddling the same lies told to us 14 years ago. I find that both dishonest and intellectually unimpressive.

He said "mistakes were made". Sound familiar?

And what was the first mistake? He blamed the intelligence people. He said everyone accepted their bad intel (and responded accordingly I presume).

That aint what happened. The WH cherrypicked and fabricated intel and not even the CIA would sign off on all the BS. Thats why Bush kept citing foreign intel. And when Joe Wilson came back from Niger with no evidence Saddam was trying to buy yellowcake the WH shot the messenger (his wife too). That was our intel they attacked.

For them to constantly blame "the intelligence" is like a murderer blaming the gun.

So Jeb is surrounding himself with many of the same un-repentant people who already lied us into war. I understand the tea party was just disgruntled Repubs who co-opt the perpetual anti-government crowd every time a Dem wins the WH, but I'm hoping we see a rebellion within the GOP so we dont see this guy getting a shot at bringing back that crowd of crooks.

Bush v. Clinton in 2016 = :(

Can we please stop electing people in the same family to positions of power? It may not even be political positions or values, just name recognition at this point. If it does come down to them, how many people in this country would have lived a majority of their lives under a Bush or Clinton by 2020?

I think it'll be Lady Hillary Clinton vs Lord Scott Walker for the white house. Walker making all the moves to solidifying the base and he leads in Iowa by a large margin.

Two cheeks on the butt of corporate US. Pick left or right and enjoy the trickle they drop down on you. Savor the smell of its beneficence.

I'm still hoping Jim Inhofe wins the GOP nomination out of nowhere. That man is very entertaining.

I think this pairing is 0-2. Hillary cannot win the general, even against a Bush.

More likely pairing. I still think the Democrat anti-Hillary surfaces.
Walker in a walk in this race. Hillary cannot win the general.

I think Clinton is a shoe in for the democratic nomination, there are no legitimate challengers. i do not think Jeb has a chance, his brother will be an albatross. i just hope that doesnt mean we are stuck with a tea party bozo instead

Whoever the Republicans nominate, this will be what they do. To a great extent it is the only way they can get nominated. We just have to hope that when the general election rolls around enough people recognize them and remember the consequences of letting them come to power.

I think Clinton would absolutely murder Bush in this scenario. She's not a perfect candidate (who is?), but her fundraising, built-in base, and actual nostalgia for the Clinton years are exceptional advantages. Plus, unlike perhaps most Democrats on the bench right now, I don't think Clinton would get clobbered in the white voter demo.

The idea that Clinton can't win a general election, to me, is asinine. If she beats Obama in the 2008 primary, she wins every state Obama did, plus probably at least four more. She could totally lose in 2016, but only to a candidate more talented than Jeb.

And this is coming from somebody who probably won't vote for her.

I'd vote for the 1st lady over Hillary and Jeb

I would seriously consider it, and if Jeb brings the same kind of retread foreign policy team that Romney tried to bring in in 2012 I would certainly vote for her over him.

John Stewart vs Jeb Bush?

I do not see a Republican that could beat Clinton in the general, especially after surviving the clown car derby.

Is that like the destruction derby at the fair, except they all pile into one car and just crash it into a wall?

Apt enough description of the Republican primaries.

Bush I = Iraq I
Bush II = Iraq II
Bush III = Iraq III

YES WE CAN ! :mischief:

Since we have to now? Thanks Obama.

Why not? The Democrats do the clown car every four years. They win occasionally.

The last time the GOP won a relatively decisive Presidential election was 1988. Since then the score is 4 relative blowouts (2 by a Clinton and 2 that would have been by a Clinton had she won the 2008 primary) to 2 one-state victories. I think Clinton, who will cakewalk through the Dem primary, will be able to easily handle whatever damaged goods survives on the GOP side.
