Jesus - Still Too Radical?

Jesus - Still Too Radical?
Jesus - Always too radical. ;) He is the Truth, the Life and the Way, and every social order that is not his will find him in the ranks of the opposition.

I like that Bush and Osama are next to each other :mischief:
Spoiler :

After all bush won elections due to Osama and Osama gained much support in Muslim world due to Bush.

I love it.

Allthough he is kneeling and washing their feet, the world leaders don't seem really comfortable, almost like children waiting for the dentist. This makes him seems bigger than them in that picture.

And didn't Jesus also wash the disciples feet? Why would this be offensive to Jesus? If it does offend, I would think the offended party are the disciples.

Do you mean some of them hate him? Even Bush isn't likely to hate him, but rather "forget" his teachings of pacifism and ethics.

What kind of social order you suppose he would have?

You say he meant we can't use violence in self-defense, only in international relations?

I rate the Classical wave of Greek thought and then of Greco-Roman thought as the most important evolution of Humanity in all ways , social , political , economical and so on.

They were the west's link to Mesopotamia

Well, sort of.

Everything he said applied on the individual level - how his disciples should be as humans. Now, if everyone in politics was a true disciple of his, then ultimately international politics would be a lot better, but as government implies compelling people to act a certain way, and he never charged his followers to form a government, I would argue that he was never talking about politics.

I'd argue that the entire point is that his message is too radical for any human to fully act upon, because it brings the point "we are all sinners" completely home.

One of the things I liked from Jesus in the New Testament goes something like this. Some people complained to Jesus that he was spending time with taxcollectors and other sinners. Jesus said that a doctor doesn't spend time with healthy people, and teachers don't spend time with the educated. So he is like a doctor who spends time with sick people (sinners like the taxcollectors). And that is also what I think about dealing wth nations who are enemies of the US, such as Syria, Iran, and Cuba: deal with them, don't ostracize them.

It makes me sad to see Jesus in this situation.I cant understand religions, but me taught to tend respect great peoples. But he seems to be radical as always.

This confused me a little bit. Are you saying that the U.S. is the "Jesus" to the world, and should "bomb them into democracy"? Or are you saying that the U.S. should "deal with them" without military action?

@Quildavyr, I agree with you about not understanding religions. This quote by Ghandi makes a very good point in my opinion, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." So many Christians these days forget to focus on being like Jesus and showing his love to the world, and instead focus on illegalizing gay marriage, and dealing with our "enemies". It is for this reason that I am hesitant to call myself a Christian, because I do not want to be associated with these people. Instead I would prefer to call myself a "follower of Christ" even though it basically means the same thing.

LEONEL - Was he truly outrageous?

Truly, truly, TRULY outrageous?

The US is currently not like Jesus at all, because it is dealing with these nations violently or simply shunning them. To be more like Jesus, the US should have diplomatic relations with these nations and attempt to change them.
