K8: MONSTER MAP - 362x362 map with 24 civs

uh.....
what?

doh! I forgot to add them!!!!!!

****...... I had wanted to add several from LKendter, israel, Australia, witha few cool UUs. But I forgot to ask him if that was OK, then proceeded to forget to add them!

2550 BC (0): Nothing to change. :goodjob:

2510 BC (1): Exploration.

2470 BC (2): Seville builds a warrior, and I tell it to build another warrior to help explore... we really need more workers to help develop our cities, but that will have to wait for sufficient growth.

2430 BC (3): Madrid builds a settler, and starts another warrior. Warrior + settler pair leaves for northern red dot.

2390 BC (4): Barcelona builds a settler, and starts a warrior. Another warrior + settler pair leaves, this time for the eastern red dot.

2350 BC (5): Exploration.

2310 BC (6): Exploration.

2270 BC (7): Seville grows and promptly gets its second citizen re-assigned to the gold tile, speeding the Wheel up even further. Madrid builds a warrior and starts another one. I'd like to irrigate one of those cows, or better still the wheat, but with one worker it's hard to get done what we need to. Seville also built a warrior, who will explore to the west.

2230 BC (8): Barcelona builds a warrior, starts another, and is MMed to work the cows to speed growth. Toledo and Santiago are founded on the red dots.

2190 BC (9): Exploration. Barcelona likes having irrigated cattle, and is growing much faster.

2150 BC (10): Madrid builds a warrior, and starts a settler, hopefully MMed to grow to size 3 first- this can be swapped to grow in 5 and have a settler in 6 if necessary. Toledo MMed to grow just as it builds a worker, as we need more assistance with our road and irrigation projects. The Wheel is currently due in 7 turns.

2150 BC

The minimap hasn't changed much- there's an expanse of jungle to our north, and we haven't explored much to our east, which is where I suggest sending the warrior building at Santiago, or a chariot when we get The Wheel, assuming we're lucky enough to have horses in our radius. We need more workers to properly take advantage of all these cattle, and we need to find a luxury soon.

I have one question: What map settings did you use to get such an insanely lucious start? A river, 4 cattle and wheat in range of the capital, and a whole heap nearby? Goodness!

-Sirp.

Sirp: the bonus res increase the larger the map/civs is. In this case, 24 civs on a 362362 map gives a lot of land per civ.

now there a re a lot of 'seeds' for res, the lux and startegic ones are placed - and the rest goes to bonus.

try it witha huge map and 2 civs, then 24 civs. you will find that the fewer civs the fewer lux and strat, but the more bonus.

settings are 'huge', then 362x362, continents, 80% water, all normal, no babrs whatsoever. give it a try in the editor, too....

Now he tells us there's no barbs. :D I could have sent that other warrior exploring.

:aargh: I told meli in chat, I thought I had posted that here, that finding a tech from a hut would be too muhc of an advantage with 80 turns research time. so no huts art all....

doh! me slow that night, very slow....

nah, just plain old PTW I was on... LK39 adn GM1 and testing the giant map and late at night and chatting and trying MP onkline with PH and and and......

me no take dugs ;)

Pre-turn: After Killer's hint that we play without barbarians, I decide to send a couple of warriors out exploring. We don't know a thing about the world... Switch Seville to worker in 1: no barbs, less warriors needed. Switch Barcelona to settler. Same reason and expansion is key. Madrid and Barcelona have a settler in 6.

1 - 2110BC: Seville builds worker. Starts on warrior.

2 - 2070BC: new terrain found with a river, forrest, game and cattle, east of Santiago.

3 - 2030BC: Santiago builds warrior. Start worker (in 5). Killer's gut feeling was correct ;). I found spices north of Madrid, in the jungle. And even more spices 10 tiles north of the first spot.

4 - 1990BC: nothing

5 - 1950BC: Barcelona builds a settler and starts another (in 15). We meet the Germans! The Germans have a lot of tech available for us. Andare not impressed by our appearance. I negotiate and can get Warrior Code, Bronze Working and 10 gold for all our tech (Alphabet, Ceremorial Burial and Pottery). I decline. We have the Wheel in 2, maybe we should get back to him then... I decide to go south with the settler to secure the cattle farms south of
Barcelona before Germany can...

6 - 1910BC: Madrid builds settler. Starts on Granary. Toledo builds worker. Starts on warrior. The settler goes north of Madrid.

7 - 1870BC: Very big event: We discover The Wheel. And found horses just South East of Madrid. Start researching Writing now (in 30). Seville builds a warrior and starts on a settler. Santiago builds a worker and starts on a warrior. Contacted Germany but still didn't like his proposal...

8 - 1830BC: Murcia founded south of Barcelona. Starts with warrior.

9 - 1790BC: Valencia founded north of Madrid. Start building warrior.

10 - 1750BC: Found the German border just south of Murcia. Writing in 24 turns. The histograph tells us that we are a bit bigger than the Germans at the moment.

I can only conclude that this is a superb starting position. I found spices, horses, game and more cattle nearby. To the north there's a lot of jungle. We can expand to every direction, however Germany's borders are close (to the south). I went for science and therefore decided to sacrifice a little city growth for a faster tech rate. Choose Writing to go for Literature and TGL...

Here's a picture of our world at 1750BC. Note the horses near Madrid and the German border south of Murcia...

Warrior Code, Pottery and 10 gold? Just curious as to the tech other than Warrior Code we could get out of Biz, since we already have Pottery.
