Left or Right of me.

There's probably a sub-compass that defines what kind of leftist you are (ML, Trotsky, Stalinist, etc.) that this one doesn't ask a single question about.

There are some compasses with political ideologies overwritten on them but some are ridiculous, such as putting Anarchy in the Purple box or have a huge American slant.

These are some of the 'best' I've found, and they vary wildy, don't they? I also found some neat 'future' estimate ones.

I'm only a commie in theory... in reality I hold very severe reservations about how it would actually work and avoid another dictator like most of the other attempts. My current ideal is market socialism (co-ops everywhere) or syndicalism. To be honest, I have not read anything on leftist theory, since it seems like such a pipedream distance from our current reality, so take anything I say about this stuff with a double handful of salt.

edit: to emphasize, my left-right position, despite being so extreme on the scale, is wobbly to the point that I would rather endure the status quo than risk my firmer opponent, absolute authoritarianism, rising to power. This is almost certainly due to my current economic privilege of being healthy and therefore unexposed (in a liability sense) to the horror of the american healthcare system and employed enough to afford things I want (I live in a pretty low cost of living area). If either of those two were different, I'd probably be more firmly radical.

I see that -10 from me as the outcome of this test, not even theory.
There is a goal, an approach style, a risk appetite and reality checks during the path taken.

I firmly believe in the representative democracy and that means for me that I only believe it is justified to move our structure to the left if that has A. the 50% +1, and B. that whatever changes done, it must be likely that the next election delivers again 50% +1, rinse and repeat, and C. it is not aimed at polarising the 50%-1, and likely securing the acceptance of at least 20% on top of that 50%, securing in total 70% of the vote.
Keeping cohesion, keeping the family together.
If we would get back to the Social-Democratic power position and policies of the 50ies, we would already make an enormous leap forward in NL.

Did the political compass. Did agree with the statement about the death penalty, we have one here who deserves it IMHO (generally opposed but would make exceptions).

Economic Left/Right: -4.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.21

IIRC, I did the Political Compass test about 8 years back, and scored around -7 on both axes. Somewhere between Mahatma Gandhi and the Dalai Lama seemed quite acceptable to me ;)

The only truly accurate political compass:

Someday we'll be able to, because we've already begun.

Accurate as I'm right on the border. I'm very critical and picky of anime. Mecha, fanservice, and more magical stuff doesn't do it to me; I veer towards the 'serious' or the like. Planetes, Area 88, the like.

have you seen memorizu, lain or tatami galaxy? those or some of my favorites

The problem with such list is that I just can't find where to add myself, because there is many fields on which I would score "more to the left", others on which I would score "more to the right" and a lot where I would ponder "is it on the left or the right ?".

As it's come into the subject, my political compass is here :

But well, as usual it's not a very exact definition, due to reason why questions are answered and the fact that it seems to jump to some conclusions that aren't necessarily true. For example, I don't consider people from a nationality are in any way "superior" to another, but I do consider it normal that people from a nationality would give preference to those of the same, and I'm pretty sure the test consider that the first forbids the second.

I am near the center in the libertarian left quadrant, but judging for where everybody in this forum is i must be worse than Hitler and hate anime with a passion.

Okay given that it seems nobody on the forum knows my politics I took the test again (few years since I last took it). However it turns out that I don't know my politics either because look what's happened:

Economic Left/Right: -6.0
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.9

Absolutely gutted! I've been in the red quadrant all my CFC life! That was the one interesting thing about me politically! And now look, slumming it in greentown with the rest of y'all hippie scumbags. What, just because I don't think people should be flayed alive for marijuana possession anymore that makes me a damn greenie does it Political Compass?

This is your fault CFC, you did this to me.

See, I told ya, it's pretty hard to score outside bottom left if you have any semblance of decency.

As an Enlightened Centrist with a Pragmatic Streak I believe that the state should blow each unmarried couple a goodnight kiss, and then monitor their bedroom activity for a three-and-a-half hour bloc the start and end times of which will be randomly determined. This policy was crafted by three years of exhaustive labor by the entire staff of the Brookings Institution

I refute this accusation!

“I think that the state should give each married couple a goodnight kiss before monitoring their conduct in bed.”

Statement is flawed. All bedroom conduct should be performed by the state. Bend over and let the state perform bedroom conduct on you.

It's actually more annoying because it's somewhat close to the right order than it would be if it was totally out of order.

In my defense...
1. I was a member of the Communist Party of Australia.
(a) My only vote on a substantial issue was to close the party down.
(b) My original application to join in 1972 (when I was 16) was rejected because I was too aligned with the Yippie movement and their attitudes.
(c) I never resigned from the party.

2. I named my son's toy panda, Mao, his toy dog, Lackey, and I had a Vietnamese fighting fish named Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Finh.
(Dare to struggle, dare to swim!)

3. I sold programs to the Australian and US Navies I wrote under research grants, and then gave the code away for free to everyone else, including Chinese and Iranian students.

4. I think that Alexandra Elbakyan deserves a Nobel prize for Physics, at the least.
