Great, Korra's facebook page just abruptly announced that Korra will now show Fridays at 8:30/7:30c. It would seem that Nick arbitrarily messing with the schedule on very short warning for no reason will not stop at season 1.
either way I'm in class when it airs so bully for me
this has not stopped certain people - yes, more than one - from bugging me about the episode before I get to watch it (at best) and spoilering it (at worst)

I wasn't a big fan. The episode introduced a number of plot points which everyone and their grandmother saw coming three or four episodes ago. Bolin and Eska continue to be used for nothing more than cheap laughs and gags, and the animation was fairly shoddy. On the bright side at least Mako and Asami are kinda likeable...but I know they're just going to get annoying again when Korra enters back into the equation. So the recycling of season 1 plot points continues!

I was hoping to see Korra get her first trip to the Spirit World. I always liked when Aang went there. I was disappointed. I also like Mako and Asami together a lot more than him and Korra. Bolin's parts seemed more or less pointless and generally were unfunny too.

Bolin just seems to have turned into the writers' punching bag. Korra's going to the spirit world. That much is a certainty. The next two episodes are going to cover her interactions with Wan, the First Avatar. I'm just irritated that this episode was so *fillery*, and not in the ATLA filler sense where interesting things happen and it's a mostly self-contained episode. This was an episode where the writers were clearly stalling for time.

I liked the Asami , Mako moments as well. The plot is going away from the stupid watertribe business, to the spirit world stuff atleast for Korra. Well ignoring the Bolin stuff for now.

Agreed. Sokka became less of a punching bag and more capable of actually doing things as ATLA went on; Bolin seems to be going in the opposite direction. Maybe he'll eventually regain a level or two in badass, but that seems doubtful at this point.
And I just don't like Eska and Desna at all. They're really not that funny and are pretty flat once you get past the "Hey, they're creepy and emotionless and treat people like crap and talk with big words!"

I've really come around on some aspects of The Sting after reading through the avclub.com comments on the episode. I think the amnesia subplot as well as the Character development set up for Mako, Bolin and Korra within that episode look to be very promising directions to take. That being said, it really don't justify Bolin's character to this point, and the horrible "nice guy" sexual harassment...janx is just revolting and I can't believe that that scene was written by the same guys who brough us such strong, independent female characters as Toph, Katara, and Azula.
Oh...and reports from Comicon NYC are that Beginnings, Part I (this weeks episode) is the best episode of the whole series shown to date. Also Studio Mir (animation studio for season 1) will be returning for this episode, replacing the demonstrably sloppier Studio Pierrot, so that definitely bodes well for such declarations.

My thoughts about Season 2:
Korra is infuriatingly dense. Still. I wished she would have learned from season 1 and have some character development going on, but I see none so far. I guess it will happen now that she became amnesiac.
Varrick: Great character. Both in his scatterbrained rich eccentric mode and as a ruthless capitalist behind his benign mask. Took me rather by surprise but they hinted at it with him saying "If you can't make money during a war, you simply can't make money!". This caracter and the show has unexpected depths.
Eska & Desna: Creepy comic relief. Still was immensely amused by the Bolin/Eska "romance". Would be nice if that developed into a kind of daughter-of-religious-fanatic-overcomes-her-upbringing kind of story, but it's too early to judge.
Bolin: Comic relief. I'm sure he will capitalize on his 'movers' star status to the benefit of Korra at some point in the future, but I don't expect him to develop very much.
Mako: I originally figured him bland boyfriend material, but he is probably one of the strongest characters of the show. He is practically the only voice of reason, is competent and responsible and suffers from conflicted loyalties and is not afraid of facing consequences.
Asami: Competent, but a fish out of water. Love rival of Korra for Mako's attention and it's honestly still in the open how that romance develops. My guess is she will get a crash course in cutthroat capitalism.
Unalaq: Red herring bad guy. By now he is established as obvious antagonist using religious pretext to further his personal ambitions. Nothing else.
All in all I am quite pleased. They continue to wrap contemporary social criticism in a series aimed at the age group who need to understand society the most. They touched the 'war on terror', racism and the police state in season one ("indefinite detention" really got a laugh out of me) and now they give religious fundamentalism, capitalism and war profiteering (and later I suspect - propaganda) the same treatment.
And that while delivering a funny and exciting show overall.

Mako was certainly more level headed than Korra was shown to be. That rebel side of her was overdone.
Why did Mako originally think it was not Northern Water Tribe which did the bombing? . All I remember is he saw some people run away after explosion with a remote. Was it just his gut feeling?. Unless I'm mistaken I didn't see him doing any actual detective work .
