So I have some experience with turn based games and can muddle through with the civilopedia and wiki for strats, units, nations, etc. But the novel gui is killing me. Or rather, having buttons which I don't understand the function for is doing so. Can someone lend me a hand on those aspects of the gui which aren't the same in vanilla Civ4? What is going on with the icons directly above the unit information area (on the middle of bottom of screen). There's a bunch of dots looking like tetris, red and green plusses, etc. I have no clue what they are for, and I feel like know what your buttons do is the bare minimum to learn the game.

Truthfully you don't need to know what any of those buttons do to play the game. I only know a few, but i think they might have mouseovers. Basically they change the way the unit icons are arranged.

I don't use them personally, but some people love them. And for the life of me I can't remember what they're called.

PLE buttons (Plot List Enhancement).

They aren't needed, just filters for viewing large stacks of units. The first orders all your units buttons in a straight horizontal line, etc etc.

I dont use them much, but they are very handy if you have huge stacks of units.

Well, you never know - they could have been the "here's the point of the whole game" buttons. With that known, I'm going to go back to getting my butt handed to me by barbarians.

Thanks much, all.

Purpose of tetrisy buttons: When clicked by mistake, they mess up the game until you figure out how to undo whatever it was you just did.

...what? :mischief:
