Leopard = Constant Crashes

The only thing I can think of is the hardware ... I had the RAM upgraded to 1 Gig at the Apple Store ... maybe I should run the diagnostics ...

Does anyone know of a diagnostics program for RAM + video other than Apple's own?

Apple's diagnostics should be OK. There's a 3rd party utility called TechTool Pro, but I think that uses the same base code as the one you get with AppleCare. I've never tried either.

What does the crash dump say?

" ... What does the crash dump say? ..."

I'm talking about Civ 4 crashing (OSX never crashes :D) ... and I get a small window that asks "Report", "Cancel" or "Relaunch" ... after "Relaunch" the program will run through maybe a hundred more moves that, crashes again ... Sometimes I can "make it crash" by going back and forth between commands, but those black icebergs are the tell tail sign that it is about to crash (again).

As you say, that small window has a button called "Report". If you click that button instead of "Relaunch", you get a crash report for the offending application. The first part of that text *may* give some clues about which part of the Civ4 program is failing.

You don't have to send the report to anyone if you don't want to, although Aspyr may be interested if you open a ticket on their support site and copy/paste the report into it.

I'll try that ... Thanks!

(I just got this new iMac and I had the Apple Store install a 1 gig RAM upgrade. I never have seen a RAM test report either, so I'll be running the Apple diagnostics too.)

Yes, 10.4.11 + Vanilla 1.74 is extremely stable for me also, definitely better than 10.4.10. I even stopped saving after every lucky battle outcome. It stands in marked contrast to 10.5.1, extremely UNstable. This is the major reason I'm still in Tiger.

I upgraded to 10.5.2 over Memorial Day weekend. Zero crashes so far. It seems Leopard is finally Civ-worthy, at least on my first gen MBP. Does anyone have experiences with 10.5.3?

I'm running 10.5.5 and get constant crashes from my MacBook Pro

Running Civ4 v1.74

It happens mostly when im ending a turn anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour into playing.

FYI: i've sense done a reinstall and patched to 1.61, seems to be workign. played for a few hours last night iwth no crashes.. (before i couldn't play for more than 45 minutes with 1.74)

Just Recently came Out of rough waters with warlords on my imac 10.5.1 i think alot of phcadelic colours and black bergs like urs fast eddy but it didnt crash very annoying but there gone now
