Okay, this touches on several topics so feel free to roam... Seems the Las Vegas mass murderer was the son of a notorious bank robber.

Was he trying to outdo Daddy? His brother says they didn't know their dad, I'm not surprised, sounds like the guy was on the run or in jail most of their lives.

Do or can behavioral problems run in the family? Do psychopaths have a greater chance of producing psychopaths? Will our future see a minority report style eugenics program designed to ascertain who can or cant reproduce based on a criminal profile of their genetic lineage?

I saw a stat somewhere that claims a large percent of the population is related to either Ghenghiz Khan (or the Khan family). I wonder if Hitler, Mao and Stalin were related. How many mass murderers did they produce?

I knew you before you were born...

A biblical phrase regarding God's knowledge of 'us' I've dismissed in the past as just more nonsensical 'guilt by association'. But maybe it has a deeper meaning, God knew our nature before we were born. Because of Adam's disobedience? He produced the world's first murderer. Why did God create a disobedient man who sired a murderer?

Because Genghis Khan had large numbers of concubines and father masses of children, thous something like 1 in 13 (Asians) can trace back directly as a decedents of Genghis Khan and roughly 1 in 200 of the world
As for Genetics, welp Republicans you can look at the US President and hes family of narcissists

With the unlocking of DNA, I think we will see eugenics program but for those that can afford it in the US
And all other first world countries will likely provided it on a National level

Even if he never met his dad, he knew of his exploits, and you know how impressionable kids are.. I wouldn't reach much into it aside from that. It's 98% upbringing. You could be the son of Jesus and Buddha and turn out a genocidal dictator

If you want to talk about genetics, eugenics, and maybe society turning into something resembling the GATTACA movie, fine. That's a discussion worth having.

But could you please not drag Genesis and your religious stuff into yet another thread?

It would be kinda boring if we found out that God was an atheistic scientist.

An atheistic scientist wouldn't do all the insane things attributed to God, including the act of claiming to be some supernatural thing that lacks evidence that it ever existed except in the human imagination.

Unless this atheistic scientist was also a troll and is doing it "for the lulz". I know if I were a god or had god-like powers I would certainly see just exactly how much crazy stuff I could convince my creations to believe through subtle manipulations without ever really giving concrete evidence of my existence.

If I ever had impulses like that, I'd just play Sim City (the original). They could scream all they wanted about wanting this or that thing; I gave them trains instead of roads, and if they whined too much about wanting arenas, I'd do the money cheat four times in a row and give them an earthquake or other disaster. Then I'd get in a snit and bulldoze the whole thing down to bare scorched earth.

The reports I've heard say the shooter has never been arrested.

God didn't create anything, because God is a fictional character.

Real characters cannot create anything either, so the notion of creating is not real. Neither is fiction, because fiction cannot be created, as creating anything is not possible.

At this point we have to claim that nothing is real, because neither fiction, nor creation can exist, because nothing exist for there to be either.

So you are the image of the God you do not accept, nor believe exists?

In keeping with the thread, and the jury is still out, how do we prevent normal humans, without any faults from becoming mass murderers?

The God I don't believe in is a loving God. Many atheists insist on not believing in a petulant, angry God.
If I am understanding correctly, each person fabricates their own version, so would not the onus lay in their imagination?

Otherwise God is a constant, some people are going to accept that, and others are not going to be able to.

The God I don't believe in is constant? Between kicking people out of his Garden, promising not to flood the planet again, and then siring Jesus to have a different path to eternity, I would say He is anything but constant.

Moderator Action: Please, let's keep the discussion about the non-religious portion of the OP.

In terms of the identity and circumstances of the shooter, the victims, and the weapon(s) involved, how well does this mass murder fit in your political agenda?

Nonsense. Take a trip down to the Arts & Entertainment forum. The Draw Your Own Story (DYOS) participants create their own stories, which fall into the fiction category because they're not accounts of RL events.

Tell writers they don't create fiction (wanna tell Plotinus that his novel that's listed on Amazon isn't real? Are you going to tell Kyriakos that he just imagined publishing a book of short stories within the past year or so?). See how far they go along with that.

The Iron Pen writers in A&E wrote short stories that fall into the fiction category. I write fiction. You are not going to tell us that we didn't create those stories. Next month some of us are going to tackle NaNoWriMo, an annual contest in which the participants try to write a novel of at least 50,000 words, in 30 days. Some CFC folks have done this several times. I managed it for the first time last year.

So you are the image of the God you do not accept, nor believe exists?
Sim City is a computer game, and I'm talking about the version I played on my Amiga 500, over 20 years ago. I don't believe that any of the little "Sim people" are real, any more than the little "Civilization" people are real. At best, they're characters in a story, and sometimes I take out my frustrations on imaginary characters. It's a lot safer all around than yelling at people or throwing things.
