LINESII- Into the Darkness- Part III

I just noticed this from the confirmed list:

QUE?
Polar bear timewarp incursion, has been dealt with. The timeline will reorder itself shortly.

Not a scooby-doo on LINES in general (except some invasion off map seems to be gonig on)

Can you please give me a little bit of history about them?
Basically what emu said. They were a powerful semi-nomadic nation, with a dominant horse-archer based army. Some theorize that they might be of similar ethnic stock to the Lengels, but this doesn't explain what they are doing on the other side of the Keran Range. They gradually settled into a theocracy, fell into disorder, but ultimately reunited in time to destroy Malkavia during the War of Treachery. Waxing in power, the High Priests in Zam Gamorre reordered Gooranism into Gorrahnism, which really angered the northern population. The northerners eventually stopped accepting the authority of the theocratic south, and gradually returned to their traditional nomadic lifestyle, eventually starting to raid further and further south into Gamorrea. The government was too weak, corrupt and decayed to do much of any use, even to the point of losing the holy city to their 'barbarian' brothers. Today, the government only controls the coastal region, the barbarian Gamorreans are spreading further out, and causing hell for the Hugions. The region under governmental control is jaded, in a state of religious unrest, and very settled and disconnected from the traditional culture. It's a mess, and looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Basically, modern gamorrea is a rotting corpse out of which something bizarre and new will probably begin to grow.

Or maybe you're a necromancer, and want to keep it going. :D

I'd like to request the same thing in regards to Myocaca.
A brother nation to the swades, started off as a simple riverine and coastal nation based out of Sanctus Tutela. They were the second nation to become Bladeist, after a quarrelsome first contact with the Swades. The blood feud with Veritas started when the Swades and Myocacans seized the Valin colony of Sempronia (now the firmly Myocacan city of Helmthorn). After this point, a long period of comparitive peace fell over Cultesia (the region of the world in which you exist). A mutually profitable relationship between Emor, Myocaca and the Swades arose. Myocaca never involved itself in the schemes of the Swades (and to a far lesser extent, the Emorans), and thus was on something of a better standing with the Oneists- in fact, for a while Myocaca had a respectable Oneist population. It was a Golden Age, with the exception of a war with Nurmafer that didn't heavily affect Myocaca, and Guangfei eventually intervened in, destroying Nurmafer (andis-1 hasn't been back since then :().

At any rate, the golden age came to an end when the Lengels came. At their maximum extent, they conquered everything west of the River of the Blade, except Sanctus Tutela. However, tropical diseases that the Lengels were not immune to began to take a heavy toll, and a force of Swades, Khemrians and Myocacans retook the entire land, also splitting up what had once been Emor between them. Peace and expansion southwards once again embraced the region. Emor's colony of Trenta, which had been captured by the Valins, was around this point captured by Myocaca.

New Veritas didn't do anything, because it was in the midst of the Valfei War. Eventually, New Veritas was pushed out of Guangfei and Qingdao, and the Bladeist Sintonians (one of those Swadescapades I talked about) were in full rebellion. Myocaca and the Swade Ascendancy both landed in New Veritas, engaged in a massive siege for Redemption (the Neaveritasian capital) and then settled in for an occupation and conquest.

Around this point, the Valins were busy fighting the War of the White Rose in Khemri-controlled Old Veritas. The Swades intervened, destroying the ancient city of Veritas and landing on the island of Exilsium, destroying it and replacing it with Otaria.

However, the Swades, in their zealousness, had finally overstepped their limits. They travelled into Myocaca and slaughtered almost all of the Oneist population, with a lot of Bladeist Myocacans getting caught in the metaphorical crossfire. Around the same time, Aryie launched a tiny invasion of Myocaca, which succeeded in capturing two cities. Veritas, Khemri, and Myocaca united in what is probably the most unholy alliance ever, and annihilated the Swades. Myocaca assumed control of all Swade lands, except for the southern region of Ozkir, which was annexed by Guangfei as 'Beiguan'. Aryie became a vassal of Myocaca, in penance.

Meanwhile, the occupation of New Veritas began to crack when Guangfei took over the Swade-Occupied region. Veritas came back in full force against its onetime ally, and Guangfei launched an invasion of Myocaca. The Battle of Three Emperors took place somewhat inconclusively at Sanctus Tutela. New Veritas was retaken by Valin Forces, and Guangfei retreated, carving a large, neutral buffer state out of southern Myocaca and giving it to Aryie.

In recent history, Myocaca has been relatively inactive- it occupies some of the southern reaches of Khemri, has been involved in a war for the defense of Guarela, and has tussled with the Black Hand Pirates around Otaria, which is currently facing an invasion from Pirates and Oneist fanatics.

Khemri will be reduced in size and returned to its' pre-civil war feudal state. Its' new ruler is half-Valin and a Oneist.

The Valin Republics, or at least Paleaveritas, have no desire to destroy the Khemran people completely. But we will make it so that they can never again threaten us, or our allies.
OOC: Didn't Khemri say something when they allowed the Second Exodus?

I'm looking at the stats, and I distinctly remember my population stat being medium instead of small. Sorry about being bothersome, but is this a mistake?
I rebalanced the population stat- each city roughly represents 50 000 people. I believe you're near the borderline, but I'll give it a look again.

With Thlayli's blessing, I am switching to Paleaveritas.
Welcome!

The man in the iron mask returns...
Glad to see you again!

I really wish I could have retaken the Mags.
You could ask nicely. ;)

OOC: Guangfei also played a role in the destruction of the Swade Ascendancy, just a fyi :)

It's a time-honoured tradition of non-Guangfei nations to downplay the role of Guangfei in their respective histories.

Since you originally created them, Luckymoose, you can have Magland. I will find another nation with which to play. I only gave them their own branch of Trinlinism to try and rally around, and I tried to increase narcotic production to mess with other nations:mischief:

Alright then. Who else would you like to be?

Man, I almost feel this game needs a Wiki or at least a more detailed map. Anyways, a little something:

****

Baron Odrin sat at the head of the large round table. He was in a large room with the various advisers of the kingdom. The room was on one of the higher floors of the Baron's palace he maintained in the city of Rifaroc. The large open windows allowed those in the room to look out and see not just the city, but the river Lunx and the lands beyond. Those lands were now even now occupied by rampaging barbarians from the far north.

Fortunately, the city of Rifaroc itself was relatively safe. The Lunx acted as a natural barrier, along with the existing city defenses, that the barbarians could not penetrate. Hugion engineers had spent many months fortifying the river and making it even more impassible. Still, Odrin worried that the other Hugion city was at greater risk of falling since it did not have such natural defenses. Nevertheless, so far messengers from Saeport continued to report that that city continued to hold out.

Baron Odrin had, during his brief tenure as Baron, not distinguished himself much. The rumors were that he was a weak Baron, who due to his inexperience let his advisers lord over him. This had been true to some extent, but Odrin was more ambitious than his advisers or anyone else gave him credit for. He was determined to take back his country from these pillagers, and more.

So he called a War Council of his top and most trusted advisers, and the generals in his army. Notably absent were the priests, the most meddlesome of his advisers who used their religion to demand much of Odrin. Many of the soldiers that had been sent to the west had finally returned to Rifaroc and were camping on the western banks of the river, preparing and training for the counter attack. That endeavor, started by Baron Rolan and continued by others, had been fruitful, at least at first; that same endeavor also was the reason why there were barbarians camped on the eastern side of the Lunx. By expanding over the mountains, they had left the homeland unnecessarily ill-prepared for the invasion. Odrin called the meeting to order, and then with a voice of authority the generals and advisers had not yet seen, laid out his vision of the path to victory.

Needless to say, when he was done speaking, the room erupted into chaos. The soldiers weren't happy; the advisers weren't happy; and if the priests knew of his plan, they definitely wouldn't be happy. Odrin let them squabble and yell for a time before he stood up and slammed his fist onto the table. There would be no question who had ultimate authority. The generals, used to fealty, fell into line first. Once they were behind Odrin, the others would have no choice to submit. And then, Odrin surely would be one of the greatest Barons.

Please do not meta-game, Lucky. Hold no grudge, our nations are, at least I hope, friendly.

I'm interested in Rozan, provided I could get a little background info on the history, culture, politics, and climate of the region pretty please :)

Hey Iggy when you get a chance and if you still have them can I see a copy of my orders. I dont have them from before the break and I'd like to see them just to refresh myself. I guess they self-deleted or maybe I did but whatever haha. Thanks.

I guess I'll take Nurmafer. If one could tell me more about them than the little bit on the stats tell me, I would be most grateful.
