A peasant in Guangfei lives better then a lord in Sintonia, oh those idiotic Bladeists. Minister of Exterior Affairs, Ri-Che-Liu
Emperor Wu, 4th Emperor of the House of Liu, was already being called Emperor Wu the Sun Lord to express the greatness of his reign. Others would attribute that to the fact that his ego was so big that The Great wasnt good enough for him. Of course, that was said usually in a joking tone by men with too much wine. The fact that the people of Guangfei began referring to themselves as the Wu People only emphasized the influence Wu had on Guangfei. It was also at this time that contact with foreign nations was made in earnest.
These nations, unlike that of distant Nur-ma-fey were relatively close to Guangfei. Contact was first made with Ni-fa-ri-ta and then later Si-to-ni-a. They were exotic nations, with exotic peoples and beliefs. After all, they came from beyond the north, from their mysterious homeland in which they had lost in defeat. And yet so conveniently, when contact was made and understood with these people, the Court had the right man for the job.
It was the job of dealing with these foreigners that is. And it made much sense, to have an assimilated foreigner deal with these other foreigners. And wasnt he a cheerful man always full with good cheer? Ah, no one could drink more then him and many a young man had become drunk in their attempts to best the now aging foreigner. With his favor at court and now significant position, he had a long time ago taken a Guangfei wife and had many, many children. In fact, his children were extremely attractive and The Prince had even taken on as a wife one of his children.
It was this man, with an unknown background, that was appointed to take care of all manners involving the foreigners. A man, in his own mind, remembered vaguely the stories of Veritas and Nurmafer on his small estate near Khadon. Born into the minor Khemrian nobility, his stock in life would have been quite low. Here, he had prospered, prospered beyond imagination of any of his former countrymen from rags to riches.
One of the five most influential and powerful men in Guangfei, with a single word he could shut off trade with any nation. With one word, he could raise prices of all goods in the Empire. With one word, all foreign embassies could be expelled. In essence, he had complete control over foreign affairs short of war unless the Emperor himself intervened. That was power, the absolute power that few in the Cradle could imagine.
But he still had his biases, and he would remember every single one of them in the service of his newly adopted country
