The Eastern European Protection Pact

Current Members: The Prussian Union, Finland, The Hellenic Republic

Agreements:

1) All members guarantee aid to others in any war in which they were not the aggressor.

2) All members guarantee to never sever trade between themselves and another member.

3) All members agree to share technological research and current technologies with other members.

The Prussian Union would like to extend an open invitation to all nations in the eastern and central regions of Europe to join the EEPP, pending approval by the Prussian Union.

OOC: This is both an alliance and a research fund, with every member contributing to the same fund.

Bavaria rejects the Hellenic application for a trade pact on the grounds that it is a) hilariously unrealistic and b) being made by a country which is clearly not non-aligned. Nice try, though.

Orders will come after I finish AFSNES ones.

Your attempt to join a European research group is both disturbing and amusing to us in equal measures. We ask you choose either one or the other.

You are accepted into the Danish-Swedish research fund(to be renamed I propose the Neutral Research Fund). Sweden also accepts your trade offer.

To: Danish-Swedish research fund
From: Sweden

I propose that if a member of our research fund is declared war upon or declares war they be ejected from the research fund so as to not effect the neutrality of other nations within the fund. This may sound harsh but we believe it to be in the best interests of all nations within this fund.

The Danish-Swedish research fund declines your entry. At this current time we would like to keep this fund regional. With your country being in a volatile region we believe it may also impact upon the neutrality of the nations in the fund. If you still wish to join we suggest you attempt to join at a later date if the fund goes global.

We decline your invitation into your pact as it will impact our neutrality.

We agree with the proposed changes.

That was expected. As said, it is an open invitation, not a direct one, requiring no reply. However, if you ever change your mind we will always be accepting new members.

As we are in the same union, we would like to change our currency and our visa systems.

1. The currency for the 3 nations will be the Atheir.
2. Any person residing in any country of this union can travel to other countries without the hassle of appling for a visa. They will simply be given a background check.
3. We would like to set up a trade system between our 3 countries, to increase our IC.

Mind you, these are simply suggestions. But I strongly recommend #3.

OOC: This is pretty much like the European Union.

OCC: The EU didn't spring into place overnight you know, it took a lot of work, trust and organisational development.
And this is pretty much like the beginning of the 20th century. A shared currency with equal control will be very difficult (especially with a commodities backed system), and currecy unions are vey much seen as a stronger power dominating the smallers (see OTL germany). Visas are somewhat premature (and would be frowned upon by nationalists) and 'trade system' is a rather meaningless phrase - you think your companies were just sitting there previously?

And when there is little easy transport between your states, such a union is rather a wasteful thing to set up.

The Prussian Union rejects all three of these suggestions. The problem with them is that they demand a high level of inter-dependence and, indeed, this is something the Prussian Union is not willing to accept at the moment. Maybe once we have undergone a few years of profitable alliance we will consider them again.

On another note, the Kingdom of Hungary has been admitted to the EEPP, bringing the total membership to four. Any objections by current members will be heard and considered by the Prussian Union if this is unacceptable.

Edit: I just realized I had not meant to reject suggestion number three. That is, basically, covered already in the EEPP with the second portion of the agreement.
