The Isthria Team was more neutral, though you could count them as town if you want. Seems a little better to me to just count those individuals as having neutral roles as their main victory condition was different from the rest of the town. However only one of them accomplished enough for a minor victory (mgsmuhammed) any way you look at it. All the rest of the victorious players and factions can certainly be called various stripes of townie, and they all achieved victory with secondary goals of different levels, and the two scum factions were defeated.
I guess it does make more sense to count Ishtria as Neutral, even if they were Pro-Town Neutral.
So, for the purposes of statistics, I should count everyone who got <50% victory as having a loss (the two mafia teams, and all of the Ishtrians except mgsmuhammad), and everyone who got more than >50% as a win (almost everyone else), so now I just have to figure out what to count mgs and Takhisis as, who got exactly 50%. Takhisis got his Main goal but failed at the secondary and personal, while mgsmuhamamd failed at his main goal while succeeding at the secondary and personal.
For survival - well, if it's going by who survived to the final update (is that consistent with how you're counting other games?) then all of those you mentioned survived. If not, the last Ngoogol players died, the remaining other players still survived regardless. Thanks for tracking this.
Generally, yes. The game almost always ends with someone being killed- either the last mafia is lynched, or night-kills or day-kills or whatever happened in such a way to end the game. The people who die by this method count as dead, everyone else who survived to that point counts as survived, regardless of whether the last update has them all die for "story" purposes or not.
For example, in Zack Mafia III, I'd count Skwink, the final lynch, as dead, and everyone else who survived to the final update alive, despite the fact that Skwink promptly resurrected and killed all of those people in the epilogue.
I can't immediately think of any examples of the game ending on something other than a lynch, but it would be something like the last mafia getting vig-killed, or the game going into the final night with a mafia, an SK, and two innocents, and the SK kills an innocent and the mafia kills the SK (or vice versa, or the mafia and the SK kill each other). In the first, the mafia would count as dead (and, if it happened at night, anyone they killed that night would also count as dead), everyone else alive at that point as alive. In the second, the mafia and the surviving innocent would count as alive (or the SK and the surviving innocent, or the two innocents)
An exception to all of this would be if the game was already won for one side but just allowed to continue a bit later. Example: landlubber's NOTW, in which Zack and Verarde killed Mergle on the final night (I think), but it didn't matter, because they went into the night with the two of them against 3 innocents, so the game should have just ended after classical hero was lynched. I'd count all of Mergle, LordNwahs, Zack, Verarde, and BigTin as having survived.
What confuses me is that I didn't know whether TLO and Seon died because someone killed them or because the game ended and they went down with Atto Ngoogol in the story of the last update. It gets more confusing because the victory post a bit after that lists all 4 of Ngoogol's allies as failing their survival victory.
