So... some people might like to display the flag for reasons that don't offend you. But you want to ban them from doing so anyway because you're not willing to invest the effort to see if that is the case or not for any specific case. You'll just assume it must be for reasons you find offensive. And you being protected from being offended is of paramount importance and trumps the individual freedoms of others. Gotcha.
See, you're doing it again... typical FOX News "some people" ... Were not talking about
some people. We're talking about you. Why do
you have the Confederate flag as your avatar? To offend me? OK so then what is your point again?
Something about what some hypothetical
some people mean by flying the Confederate flag and them not intending it to offend people? Huh?
As for Farm Boy... pretty sure I know exactly what his point is... totally different from yours... and I know what yours is too... If you got a better explanation lets hear it... Another quip about my "supernatural psychic abilities" will be another blatant failed attempt at misdirection. BTW I hear that all the time (complaints about my "mind-reading abilities") and I find that I usually get that comment when Im on the right track... "truth-hurts" as the saying goes...
And I don't want to ban
individuals from displaying their precious Confederate flag, because as I have already said, I find it a very convenient shorthand to getting some clue as to who I'm dealing with. I want it to be discontinued in terms of
official government use. That way there is no more ambiguity about its "acceptability" anymore, and those who want to display it privately and proudly can do so and let everyone know who they are.
Finally (and this is more @ Farm Boy) as I have said numerous times in our various discussions. I never want to ban people from offending me or anyone else. Offensive content, speech, ideas etc is often a very effective way to learn and/or get a useful message across. If you remember our discussion about the Lincoln Osiris character, I said I found the character offensive, but useful at conveying an important an entertaining message all at the same time... So offend away! I'm a big boy, I can take it
Just be aware that I bite back
