[NFP] March Update Video Discussion

"It's been hard to keep this a secret since SOMEONE RELEASED THE ACHIEVEMENTS TOO EARLY" more like

The two world wonders are a nice surprise. Now we have Petra, Jungle Petra, Tundra Petra, Sea Petra and Marsh Petra!

Zombie mode might be the only mode I turn off with Apocalypse. It just feels like Barbarians with extra steps. But at least once I'd like to run all modes together for chaos.

More curious about the patch updates than anything - corporation mode in particular.

Oh and unsurprisingly the music for Portugal sounds great.

Nao confirmed too, as per video images. ¿have we seen the improvement/building yet?
At 43 seconds in the video it looks like you can see the UU being able to build an improvement. It looks like a feitoria.

A little bit surprised they went for another Ancient Era science wonder. To be honest, I'm surprised they went for another Ancient Era wonder in general.
Me too. :(

Wetlands map script looks cool, I always think there's too few marshes on the map.
These I look forward to. The Torre de Belem along with the Casa de Contracion... Yummy.

0:43: Porutgal unique unit has build charges, presumably for unique improvement

Edit: Partially ninja'd

That sounds similar to Will’s idea (The Carrack/Nau could build a Feitoria)

These have 7 Movement Points and 55 Combat Strength, as well as 2 Build Charges, from what I can tell.
Looks like the same combat strength as a normal caravel but almost double the speed. Normal caravels usually have a movement of 4.

A map script that increases the amount of the least fun terrain feature...

The thing with this and the highlands map script is that this functionality is really better served by sliders (wet vs dry climate — new vs old world age). Throwing them in as “new map types” when they really just increase the amount of a certain terrain type is not particularly inspiring.

I don’t really have any interest in the zombie mode — might be fun to play once, but it really isn’t going to be something that adds depth to the basic game. The AI will also presumably be completely wiped out...

So while I’m interested to see Portugal’s abilities and happy to have a couple of new wonders, this final DLC pack is a real damp squib. Not the high point I’d hoped they’d finish on at all.

Also, it appeared that the ability to construct the Unique Improvement was available when the Unique Unit was outside of Portuguese territory.

I love how despite the fact the official reveal trailer is still a week away, we're still working as hard as we can to learn what their abilities are ahead of time :lol:Oh Civ fanatics, never change.

Also, I have to laugh at how they obscured the new leader this time around. Rather than blurring it, they just decided to mask it entirely.

It's almost like the editor was challenging us: "Hah! Try and guess it this time!"

I guess this disproves the "+1 Movement to all Naval Units" theory.

I think we already know, editor...

So, probably the worst Petra-esque Wonder, and a wonder for buildings on other continents. Not too excited about either, haha.

I'd be fine with colonization if it weren't for the fact that continents across the map sometimes are listed under the same name. :(
