Marians: Sons of Mars

The states in your vicinty are Colombia, Guyana, Maracaibo(in Venezuela), Argentina, Patagonia, and the Inca. The one player you have contact with is Lighthearter, who commands the Caribbean Empire.

Per your request, I've colored the NPCs next to you different shades. A good way to tell the difference is to zoom in - I always put a dark gray border between different NPCs.

Bloody nightmare? How?

The size of some of the provinces. I started coloring Africa and got.. frustrated.

Indeed... maybe next game. :p

East Rome puts all money into Military. Claim:

Mali signs a trade agreement with Carthage!

Astrakhan and Novgorod have signed a trade agreement!

Japan and Na-Na-Nine have signed a trade agreement!

Poland and Kiev have signed a trade agreement!

India and Ceylon have... you know.

Too many RMs to count. I predict at least one succession war.

Turn 12

sonsofmarsturn12stats.png

Incidents

Ecuador has revolted against the Amazon, demanding independence.

Xinjiang has revolted against Na-Na-Nine.

Two provinces in Somaliland have revolted against Axum, desiring independence.

2 provinces have revolted against Tagalog.

Events

Cyrene had a plague, and so can only claim 4 provinces.

Iberia had a riot in Catalonia - it is Hindu in nature.

Mali had a Great Discovery, gaining +29 gold towards it's current research.

Tagalog had a plague, and so can only claim 4 provinces.

Germany had content populace. As a result, since this is Turn 12, they can move two slider points rather than just one.

Deseret had a border dispute with the Aztecs, and so will have a casus belli on them for turns 12 and 13. Considerations for war: The Aztecs' income is 29 to Deseret's 34, the Caribbean may have a vested interest in propping them up with gold(due to a royal marriage), but Deseret has a far superior military in terms of training and luck it will get due to quality. The Aztecs could possibly repel Deseret, but this will rely on Deseret using up its armies on the offensive and leaving little to defend against a counterattack. A slow advance will work against the Aztecs.

Succession

Austria's ruler has died. Ordinary succession has occurred.

Religious Events

Hinduism - Lombardia, Naples and Carthage (60%), Iberia(50% + 5% = 55%); Rome, Nubia, Germany, Austria and all countries in contact with Carthage are at 50%.

Iberia: 0
Rome: 3
Nubia:
Germany:
Austria:
Lombardia: 4
France: 2
Carthage: 2
Mali:
Cyrene:
Albion: 4
Sweden: 2
Norway: 2
Poland:
Naples: 2
Serbia:

Net gain - 21 - 4 = (17) See below

Judaism - Kiev has 60%, Novgorod has a 55% chance, everyone else in contact with Kiev(Germany, Austria, Astrakhan, and Rome, Na-Na-Nine) has a 50% chance.

Kiev: 2
Novgorod: 1
Germany: 1
Austria: 2
Astrakhan: 1
Rome:
Na-Na-Nine:
Nubia: 1
Persia:
Hedjaz: 1
Cyrene: 2
Sweden: 2
Norway:
Poland:
Serbia: 1

Net Gain - 14 - 8 = 6 (See below)

Christianity

(Christianity can only be founded in a Jewish province, so only a handful are eligible for it)

A man proclaiming himself the prophet foretold in Jewish legend has started a reform movement in Sweden, seeking to root out the moral corruption of the religious hierarchy and return all of humanity to the grace of God. He is rapidly gaining followers with his doctrine of love, compassion, and forgiveness for one's fellow man.

The Swedish King, seeing an opportunity to unite his realm, has adopted the faith as that of Sweden. All of Sweden's provinces will now be tested for a revolt roll. Those that don't revolt will convert to Christianity.

Only one revolt! Hinduism has lost 4 provinces to Christianity, whereas Judaism has lost 8. Christianity, meanwhile, has already gained 14 provinces. The holy city of Christianity is now Stockholm.

Christianity, being a reformation of the Jewish faith, will have an advantage against Judaism on its first turn if it spreads to any Jewish country, to the tune of +10% conversion chance added to all second conversion rolls.

Norway: 1 - Judaism loses 1 province.
Novgorod:
Germany:
Poland: 5 - Judaism loses 1 province.
Austria: 3 - Judaism loses 1 province.
Albion: 1
France: 1
Kiev: 1 - Judaism loses 1 province.

The net gains are now Hinduism - 17, Christianity - 12, Judaism - 2! Kiev's income will be dented since they lost a converted state.

Announcements: For battles, rolls will now be 1-26 rather than 1-25.

For simplicity's sake, trade agreements between minor powers will all yield the same profit - half of the most profitable agreement between major powers. Iberia has the most profitable economic agreement at 6 gold per turn, and so all AI trade agreements will yield 3 gpt to the AI, unless it's with a major power. Major powers receive money the same as they always have.

ok put 6 gold into civ5 (joke omitted) and 11 gold into diplomacy.

now, hire two navies and two armies.

Iberia

Iberia earns 60 income. 29 to Infra 3. 35 into Infra 4.

Iberia claims 4 provinces, filling up the Azores and its Moroccan possessions.

Iberia looks for a loan of 5 gold, offering an interest of 1 gold upon it, to be repaid next turn. This is offered to France, Italy, Serbia, and East Rome in that order.

---

Let's skip to the diplo! Since the interest rate is 20%, the AI is 20% likely to accept the deal.

Serbia agrees to loan 5 gold to Iberia after France and Italy reject the idea. This 5 gold goes to finish Infra 4.

With that, I've used up my offers to three nations, but now I'll go a step ahead and propose royal marriages to Austria and Germany.

Austria accepts a royal marriage but Germany rejects. (Thank God I'm not an NPC or we'd possibly have a case of Charles V here)

The Albioners claim no new territory.

Alexander I dies and leaves no hiers. Instead, William I becomes King of Albion.

His first act is to rename Albion into the Anglo-Pictish Empire.

His second act is to send a single Caravel with a party of settlers southwest from Iceland.

His third act is to construct a pair of fleets.

I'm going to offer the Aztecs a deal: I'll sign a formal alliance with them if they hand over those two territories in Central America.

$16 into military tech
$1 into diplo tech
$10 to bribetrade to the Aztecs for my territory
$10 to buy two new armies(The Royal Caribbean Marines)
$6 into infra tech

-L

I put 55 in Civ 6, and 2 in Civ 7, leaving 10 gold in my vault. Claims in a moment.

sonsofmarsmap10.png

You left my claims out last turn. Intentional? Anyway I put 17 gold into Mill 2 (finished) and 23 into Infa 3 (finished). I attack my rebellious province 3 times.

You need Army 5 to sign defensive pacts and/or guarantee someone(with Army 6 needed for full offensive/defensive alliances), but the Aztecs will consider the offer when you finally reach the tech(meaning they will accept it since having a major power aligned to them is too good to pass up).

Invest most in Infra 4, train two new armies. Possibly start Civis 4 if I can.

Only 2? Clearly you're quite confident... that means you'll only have 2 armies to attack. Granted your forces are well-trained, but if you don't do very well, the Aztecs could very easily return the favor. :p

I didn't see any claims the times I double checked your post, so I assumed you never go around to posting them... Must've taken the "moment" part literally. :p

Amazon attacks Ecuador

26-4. Solid victory.

Iberia attacks Catalonia

13-8.

Na-Na-Nine attacks Xinjiang

16-11.

Axum attacks Somaliland

5-2 and 11-4.

Tagalog attacks Southern Philippines

8-15
7-25
13-8.
6-22
18-21.
24-23.

Haha fine.. Please claim them this turn then.

Deseret invades Mexico

Deseret seeks to expand into Mexico, though exactly how much is unknown. What is known is they have 4 well-trained militaries, two of which are going to march into the Aztec Empire.

The Deseret bonuses are: +2.3 to rolls, +8% bonus on top of any rolls. This should give them high chances of victory.

22-24, but the Deseret bonuses allow them to win anyway.

3-8. Deseret is forced to retreat. This army is destroyed. (Rolled 13 out of 100, when there's a 20% chance of an attacker being destroyed).

Deseret still has 25.6 gold, and so can recruit 5 more armies if necessary.

The Aztecs have 3 armies, of which, one is retired. 2 are kept for defense, while 5 more are recruited. Of these, 3 are kept for defense, with 2 being tasked with eliminating the Deseret presence.

10-13.
15-3. This Deseret Army is destroyed. (Rolled 9 out of 100, when there's a 10% chance of a defending army being destroyed)

The status quo has been re-asserted, with Deseret having lost 2 of its three armies to the Aztec army. The Aztecs offer a white peace.

Current status: Stalemate

The Aztecs have 8 gold to draw upon if necessary, while Deseret has 25.6. Deseret has only 2 armies, one of which is retired for the turn. The Aztecs have 8 armies, of which 3 are retired. The remaining 5 are on the defensive.

Hmm.. Could I pass on some gold through LH to the Aztec? I would consider Dessert getting too powerful to be a baad thing.
