K_Mod? Don't know that game unfortunately or is it a mod on Civ4? Sounds interesting anyway. I sometimes i still fire up a Civ4 game, played out ABCF's terra map for instance but didn't get around to posting the finish there.
K-Mod is the today fad (a lasting one) because it reuses the better AI and at the same fixes all bad AI behaviour, so the AI is far more dangerous and less prone to stupid acts.
For instance, choking is supposed to not work at all. When the AI is in peace, he may try to rearrange his economy to run away...even disbanding some of his units.
AI sometimes archer rush for trolling you. It happened to TMIT on Emperor quite early! And some aspects of the game are changed like balances (e.g. anti-barb-galley natural promo, serfdom boosted, SP nerfed, etc.).
BTW, can't wait to see your win or winning position. Would be nice if you uploaded some saves.
This looked like a fun sado maso game
Will play in my free time, went straight for GLH and stopped around turn 70 for now..does not look that bad me thinks. GLH = gamble yip, but honestly with that land..must try.
Spoiler:
Think i should settle island north next, towards Shaky too early uuh i dunno ~~
Besides some gold which isn't all that important me thinks, looks crappy anyways east. Teching Myst. bugs me, but i really need a monument in 1 city sigh.
Lost this game
Shaka did DoW me early, that was'nt a problem cos he only sent ~5 weak units.
But he did again later (while pleased), and i lost my trade routes again (and patience) ~~
Should have tried an early rush, but was so tempting to see how far i can get with really nice GLH research

Indeed, the game increased in difficulty once you get rushed. 9/10 in difficulty Kossin said...which is near AW I guess being 10/10. Relying on Shaka's mercy in futile, because he's nuts.
Wait a minute, where are those files Dirk promised?

An AW deity game with default setting and random map would rank 20/10 as that's just IMPOSSIBLE, while fending one single deity AI's DOW is not that hard.
I haven't forgotten about this game. Just been playing another map for a while.
And, as a matter of fact, I've played further, now.
To 700 AD, a little before Liberalism :
I decided the Sistine Chapel would be an awesome wonder to get, since it would allow to culture press 3 AIs.
So I delayed getting Aesthetics to wait for a potential Academy and bank gold for Music. A few turns later, a Great Merchant was born in Kyoto and sent on a trade mission.
I was really backwards in techs due to a slow expansion and I got a lucky break when Hammurabi gave me Currency. Same Hammurabi got to Music first, though, after I traded liberally Aesth + Litt. With marble, I could still get Parthenon, G. Lib and Sistine.
Somewhere at that point, I did switch into Hereditary Rule + Org Religion. I probably was a bit late doing that, maybe closing on 200 AD. Also the 2nd GP popped and an Academy was built in Kyoto.
Next tech researched was Philosophy to get some bulbing opportunities (revolted into Bureau + Pac after Sistine was done) and get out of my tech hole (AIs had Machinery, Feud, CS at that time, some of them getting Paper).
We did get the AP and I've started on Hindu buildings.
Hatty won the war against Shaka and vassaled him.
Some turns passed, Education was bulbed, a Merchant was born and sent on a trade mission, a GS is expected in 3 turns and I've already invested about 1000 beakers into Liberalism so the GS could bulb it.
Now...
What might happen :
- bulb Liberalism ; I do not have Machinery yet, which unlocks the Printing Press bulb instead of the Lib bulb. Nor do I have Feudalism, Guilds, Banking ; so the only possible targets would be Nationalism or something further, such as Constitution or Military Tradition.
I'm not enthusiastic about Lib -> Military Tradition. I'd much rather war with (drafted) Riflemen than Cuirrassiers. I'd like to set up Oxford too but I'm far from it.
Hammurabi has had Nationalism for about 10 turns and is building the Taj Mahal for sure. Without marble, though. I could try to race him for the Taj. Nationalism being required to draft Riflemen, it ain't the worst tech to Lib. Also a decent trade.
- Research Machinery, bulb Printing Press, Lib Replaceable Parts / Riffling. I can research Rep Parts in 12 turns, iirc. Hammurabi is the tech leader, he can probably research Liberalism in 5 turns or so. The most straightforward option but not the best trade since it may imply to trade Education to get along the Banking path. No Taj Mahal either, then, and gotta wait for AIs to trade Nationalism. Maybe this is unnecessary ?
- Lib Astronomy ; just need to tech Machinery / Optics. There are 3 unknown AIs with whom I could trade. They've been at war, by the way : 3 Great borns were generaled on a single turn, in a far away land. Clearly the best trade. Opens Sci Meth & Physics to the AIs. Gets overseas traderoutes as well for insta boost to 10 cities (8 coastal). Nice option but then do I have an unneeded Great Scientist ? It would also delay my war for some turns, maybe 10 or 15.
- Get a second Academy for a more central capital (2 cities might qualify). However, moving the capital isn't such a concern. Kyoto does just fine and the other cities are backwards.
So many choices... Any opinion welcome.
Militarily, Pacal would be the first target but he's the one with the less wonders. He has nice land, though, and maybe he could bribe someone on me I'm not sure I want to rush the war either as my cities aren't much developped (e.g. : I have 1 forge & 2 libraries).
Hatty having a vassal isn't too upsetting : she will not declare but might get DoWed.
Hammurabi and her share most of our wonders, with Shaka having the Pyramids. The only conspicuous wonders we lost are the Mausoleum of Mausoles and the Temple of Artemis.
Awesome!!! Your unusual approach deserved some luck. Just don't forget to set your economy up. Osaka would make a fine Bureau/Oxford capitol (gold + 5 towns + 4-5 Intercontinental trade routes). Regarding your plans for DoW, you were unorthodox so far so I don't want to ruin it.

Thanks, but maybe you're giving me too much credit.
And maybe you were right about not giving advice, because I played 3 more turns and...
Spoiler:
A Great Engineer was born in Kyoto, so much for bulbing Printing Press. Next GP is due in 8 turns, iirc (different computer).
I think I was going for Lib -> Astronomy. Now I definitely think I am.
Riffling may come afterwards but, seeing how I'm at friendly status with 3 AIs, maybe I can get a painless win from a Mass Media beeline/bulbline.
The Great Engineer might be saved for the UN... Rushing Oxford with it would also make sense.
And thus I think it will be my loss. Things didn't go all too well after the last update.
@ 1470 AD :
Spoiler:
In a nutshell :
I lost Lib -> Astro to Hatshepsut, master of Shaka, by 2 turns. I got out-teched to Mass Media by Hatty herself and she built the UN 4 before I could reach the tech.
Being at the bottom of the ladder in population, it is hard to envision a UN win without capturing the UN... a hard thing to envision in itself.
Sistine Chapel didn't matter much in the end, It just held my ground. Could be because :
- it was built too late vs obsolescence of monasteries ;
- I didn't commit much to generating additional culture ; running Pacifism for most of the game didn't help with the buildings (although I wouldn't dismiss Pac on that basis) ;
- didn't max my city count on the main land ; I could've settled cities just to flip tiles.
I didn't really manage to expand overseas.
I kinda was hoping to settle 5-10 overseas cities and grow them for the UN vote. In the end, the AIs had Astro about the same time as I did and they settled/captured the most of it.
I did send settlers with the first round of Galleons but there weren't military, workers, missionaries. So I ended up settling crappy spots / losing a city to barbs while Hatty (again !) got the prime land. I'd have been better served sending the settlers in the second round of galleons.
So I thought I might grow the islands while bulbing/researching towards mass media.
How to ?
Having really only Kyoto for a potential super-city, I decided to supplement the National Epic with Oxford, there.
So after losing the Liberalism race, I got Lib & Astro & detoured to Constitution to open Representation.
So the civics were : Rep / Bureau / Slavery / n/a & Free Market / Pacifism & Free Religion (much) later. Under that setting, it "felt like" I could research fast enough compared to my Empire size. However, it also did stun my growth and potential for growth.
I also "had to" bank gold for far too long instead of going full research. Many things contributed to that. Kyoto generating full scientists, losing Lib, consistently paying a little gold in tech trades...
Well that covers most of what comes to mind, even though I'm sure...
It was a cheesy game. Cheese fail.
I hope someone manages to take on the map head on.
