Some people would think my course is a mickey mouse degree.
Bachelor of Multimedia (Games and Interactivity)/ Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Software Engineering).
The first part certainly is. The second part is legit.

Medieval Studies is a credible multidisciplinary program, whatever you may say. And so are many other "studies." ;)
Nobody expects people to study the Spanish Inquisition.

Vocational education is one, this is another thing entirely. Do you really need a degree for working in the wilderness?

I mean who would choose to have leading you on the tour: guy who spent two years at college, completing general electives and whatnot, or they guy who spent years roughing in the bush? Exactly.

Yeah, but the college student will have two years in the bush not after too long.

College guy with 2 years - Random guy with 6 years in the bush. .... Exactly.

Yes it looks like bs. Is he paying money to do that degree?

Why not go work at a Lake Tahoe resort and learn on the job? You'd get paid and learn far more relevant skills.

There is a year long internship at the end IIRC.

*Edit*
Just MSNed my cousin, there is a year long paid internship in 4 or 5 different things depending on what you chose to follow as a "path"

Fair enough. Might help to get into management quicker. What with that elective in Shakespeare and all.

It has a narrow focus, but I wouldn't call it a mickey mouse degree. I know some people who consideres tourism or hospitality degree as mickey mouse, heck my manager consider my degree, interdisciplinary science as mickey mouse. I consider any business degree as mickey mouse, so any opiniona on such in a forum is mickxy mouse.

Business is another good example of a Mickey Mouse degree.

I'm not exactly sure what "interdisciplinary" means, but I can see where it could make some sense if the courses were picked with care. After all, there usually isn't all that much specialization with a typical BA degree anyway. And if you are going for an advanced degree, it really deosn't matter all that much what it is as long as it is related to some degree.

One of the easiest ways to find out what the Mickey Mouse degrees are at a given college is to examine the majors of the football team.

Yeah, if I was subconsciously aware of the worthlessness of my own education, I'd start a thread like this too.

I am a Soc - Geography major. As I have stated here 50 million times.

...Geography is a major? Do you plan on being some sort of Cartographer or do you honestly think that the major is somehow more intellectually productive than Wikipedia or a similar substitute?

It's called "History"

Well, of course, the vast majority of Medieval Studies is medieval history... But it also requires Latin courses, and includes several courses that have more to do with theology, literature, fine arts, etc. Believe it or not some of these "studies" do have something distinguishing them. :p
