[mod] Warlords: Total Realism 2.3a

Yes, Walter is right. Kensei are "the end-of -the-line" melee unit. They are awesome, really awesome against other melee units... As time goes on, they become weaker and weaker until beeing useless. Nevertheless, an aggressive Japanese player can use them wisely for a short-medium time. :p

In fact, we are happy with this unit. We met difficulties finding and building a good National Unit for Japan. This one seems very good in our opinion.

About Japanses UB: yes, it's not the best of the game. One day i will really look at it. Feel free to give your ideas or comments. We always look at them.;)

Hian the Frog.

Definitely great work on that unit. Love it. As the Entire Christian World (which at this point means all of eurasia except for my Zoroastrian holdout) has just declared perpetual war on my arse, they're a godsend since they are a step above everything else out there and they heal very quickly. Use knights (or samurai I guess) for the stack aid and picking off those that come out of the city, use the Kensai to crack the tough nuts.

On the perpetual war thing, I'm in my second such war with a brief break in between, having HUGE unrest due to it, and no matter how many cities I take noone's surrendering til they're dead. And we're talking a bunch of turns past the usual 'war ends' dates. I didn't want to conquer all the way to Madrid quite yet, but it looks like I'll have to. Not sure if its a bug or not, but is there a 'never talk, never surrender' bug or trait that kicks in once they get pissed off enough?

That said, their national building is beyond useless. Sure some civs have later buildings, but they tend to be useful. This one most players (I suspect) will never, ever build. Sure it adds an extra 10% production, but who builds coal plants for power? Either 3 gorge dam it or build something cleaner for the power. Who wants more sick faces if you have alternatives?

Got to be something else ubiquitous to Japanese culture that fits the game. If I come up with a suggestion, I'll post it.

We know about that. It's very, very, very boring.... We will have to look at what can be done. I don't know if it's possible to do something ...

I agree.
We will have to look to something better. Either something from the Japanese Feudal Age, or something closer to our modern world (linked to robotics or so on ). I still don't know.

All ideas are welcome.

In agreement with the news of the forum, colonization will have more diplomacy resources. I wait like this!:)

Hey,

I'm running windows vista playing this mod on warlords through civ IV gold. I loaded up this module but I can't seem to get an interface when I play. All I can see are two units, terrain, and an invalid flag. I know how to work with registries a little bit if that helps..

update: man, was that annoying to find out. I fixed it thanks to..

I've got a recurring CTD the hits every time I end the turn in 1468.

Did some messing around with it, seems tied to the creation of a Vodka distillery. When I canceled that production things seemed to work fine. The distillery's, jewelers, bronze mills, and a few other things are still rather buggy. I'm running everything updated on through the latest patch/bugfix/hotfix.

Gonna mess around a bit more and see if this repeats with jewelers.

File is attached.

Hi Tr team i have a request can you guys please fix the tobacco and alchol Please remove the One unhealthy no One wants to trade can you Please add 1 Or 2 Commerce for better trade?
The Reason i am asking is I am aware that you guys are going to do one last fix and that is It!!the end of Tr Warlords Please I am begging fix the trade Problems with these 2 items Please remove the unhealthy and replace it with More Commerce maybe 2 Gold for brandy,1 Gold for vodka, and 3 Gold and happiness for Tobacco and maybe through in manufacturing ciggerrets i know these items are bad for your health but they also generate billions of dollars world wide so this is TR so let focus on that aspect instead of the health problems People Know the hazards and risk with drinking and smokeing but they do it any way!
Please,Please fix this for better trade options!

P.S I upgraded my CPU from quad 6600 to Dual Core Wofendale E8400 3.00Ghz I Overclocked to 4.2 GHz i can see faster and better results in game turns I am Playing with 24Civs Huge Maps 4 Contents every Country is medium Or Huge in Size i can see hundreds of troop movements specialy hitlers SS troops in europe and My turns have slowed down a bit but are a lot faster than using my old Q6600 I am thinking of Over Clocking my e8400 to 5.5GHZ i will buy a water cooling system and let you guys know if there are big gains in my turns.

Great game. I usually play England and built up my civilization while nobody can built sufficient navy to mount an attack. However I have run into a CTD. The save game is attached.

I have found a strange with this mod on my Dual core Notebook running Vista.
While playing Russian on custom generated map I got multiple crashes to windows since i andvance to renessance age . It is a really stange crush and nothing will help to continue the turns as always crush to desktop.
The only cure for it is to declare war to the most advanced opponent Germany which captured already 3/5 of the world map and having points 2500 against mine 980
difficulty level : Prince .

Can why help how to avoid crushes and why it happens ?

Hi i'm sort of new so whats some good strategies for the early game (ancient era and classical era) for Total Realism (in general, not one particular civ/leader. but if you must ask my favorates are the american and japanese)

It just seems no matter what I do I just can't seem to get it right. I'm just curious as to what other people do.

what I'm really getting at is after you put your city down, whats the FIRST thing you should do? do I....

A. Build a Smokehouse?
B. Make a warrior
C. Make another settler and try to city-spread (tried that once, didn't work too well I wound up with a strike and lost all my units. then the barbarians came and raised everything)
D. Make a worker

and then what should the 2nd thing be? 3rd and 4th?

In the ancient era, is it better to have 2 or 3 well-oiled, well taken care of cities or a whole bunch of smaller ones?

warrior, warrior, warrior, worker

BARBARIANS WILL COME FOR YOU
its only a matter of time
and its best to be ready to defend every single improvement you don't want to lose :]

don't build more cities than you can afford, and only build them early on to keep resources from other civs

the city maintenance will break you

It seems I can manage a small takeover right at the beginning of the game (warrior flood)

but the problem there is the same: when I take over a city I begin to loose too much money.

How do I stop money loss (and this isn't a lot of extra cities either, just one or two)

We have our own forum, y'know. :)

Also, it is summer, vacation time. Now that you've mentioned it, I am "forsaking" you till 21st of August. Have fun and let me have some. :D

Now I hate August!!

In ancient era, overexpansion kills. You should only consider expanding beyond 2-3 if you've been getting lots of gold from villages, so you have a reserve. There are some buildings that help to manage the monetary problem; in ancient era, potter workshops and certain pagan temples are your best friends for that. Later on, if you have lots of trouble with money, you should consider beelining to trade. Stonehenge + early religion can also be a good cash cow.

Also, when founding a city early on, you should very much take note of two factors that will be less relevant later on - defensibility of terrain (that is, what are the potential routes barbarians might come from - so founding coastal and/or close to other cities is a good idea, as it excludes one direction) and readily accessible resources (the ones that bring good yields even when untapped by workers - silk and lemons work surprisingly well in this role).

Took a little break, but I'll bump my favorite mod to the forefront. (and I'll resist asking the inevitable question)

I think alot of this depends on where you're at. The Civs aren't aggressive at all in most cases until people start getting Bronze working. And the barbs aren't a serious problem in Western Europe or anyplace on an island. I've often found that the difference between an improved and unimproved square is too severe at times not to work it. If I've got a start city with wheat/pigs/gold or something else nearby, my first unit will be a worker.

It will typically finish around the time you get your first tech, so simply choose that according to your surroundings. Or hope that you pick it up from a goodie hut. (Or save and reload a bunch to make sure you get it from a goodie hut...yeah, I'm like that. :) ) If you go Agriculture, you can make up that growth loss immediately. If you get mining and got a gold square, you can more than double the rate of your tech discovery.

Everything takes a long ass time in those early turns and depending on your location, one of the best ways to take advantage of that and get an early lead is to have some worked squares. I often send out the first two starter warriors to discovery, goodie hut, and on the return start some pre-emptive wars for workers to add to that base. Your city in some locations can do fine naked for a while.

hey where can i get this mod or any other total realism mod for civ 4 or civ 4 warlords in zip form (no .exe form) just zip
