[mod] Warlords: Total Realism 2.3a

Ok, edited my exe with the MAF-fix but that didnt help. But I started a new game anyway and about 1200BC it crashed again (similar to my savegame). Well, I noticed that just before the crash there was a message in the game that there is not enough copper or so, shortly after I built a bronze smith. I thought I saw that already in earlier crashes so I was searching this forum again and found that same problem with the bronze smiths. The solution was to download a new dll posted by you. But I thought that cant be the reason because I already patched my dll with the one from the very first site here. But that dll was a bit different to the dll I downloaded before so I just tried to use it ( btw it is the one on site 33 of this forum and is posted by you) and... what a miracle I could suddendly continue my savegame without the crash and am now playing till 100BC and still dont have any more crashes. What confuses me is that the now working dll was posted on may 20 and the one I used before and crashed was posted on 2nd june... weird. Well, hopefully I can play fluently now. I will inform you soon....

I`m crashing too when producing the first broncesmith. Did the MAF-fix with no effect to this.

Promising mod, if it just would run:confused:

thebigticket; what dll did fix this??

Yes, but I actually used the older dll here from page 33 of the forum, the latest dll was crashing for me for some reason. Maybe because I'm using 2.13 version ? Or are these actually the same dlls? But then I dont really get why it works now.

The last dll did not help, the one on s.33 took me one step further into a puter-freeze:confused:

After tree freezes (w. and w.o bronzesmiths) I`m giving up:mad:

Ok, little status report:
I made it to 17th century now and get a fatal error when I try to save the game. It says "Reason: bad memory allocation". What exactly does that mean? Memory overuse?
Dont wanna bother you Walter, but could you try this savegame again for a few rounds :blush: I just wonder that its because of memory, although I did the MAF-Fix. :(

btw Its a pity I cant play it to the end, cause I love it. The unique units and their design works really great. And of course all the new techs and buildings...damnit :cry:

Yeah, that IS the dreaded MAF. You see, MAF fix doesn't cure MAFs, it just postpones them until later. The good thing is, MAFs are random, so if you set to autosave every turn, with some preseverance you can prevail, if you want to, of course.

Ah ok I see. Like i said its a pity but at least good to know the reason there. Thx walter. :)
Just gotta wait and hope... (and try to save it every turn)

You can do that automatically. Go to My Games\Warlords and change the configeration file, CivilizationIV.ini. Make a backup copy first.

Look for the lines:

; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave.
AutoSaveInterval = 1

Change the value to 1 as shown.

You should also increase the number of autosaves to a value that suits you.

i.e.

; The maximum number of autosaves kept in the directory before being deleted.
MaxAutoSaves = 15

hmmm... its gettin too quiet here, so I just got a short question :D
what is the difference in old world mod and does it need less system ressources?

Old World version of World Map includes no civs in the Americas, so it may be colonized later. It may require a bit less resources, but I think it will be somewhat compensated by increased barbarian presence later in game.

This is really a good news. I hope the new DLL will eliminate CTDs. I really wish to be able to play a full game once more. It has been too long since I last finished a game with TR.:sad:

Might have crashed once or twice cant remember its been awhile, but managed to end a game before i researched all the techs so i wouldnt know if its fatal crash proof. I think it was beginning of industrial era when it ended. The "Resource shortage"message is what's putting me off another game.

Has anyone been able to research all techs without crashing (too much)?

It has been quite a long time now so I am no longer sure about this. I have the 2.3 setup and then a hotfix then a DLL patch. I was under the impression that this is equivalent to having 2.3a + the DLL patch. Is it wrong? Should I download 2.3a and apply the DLL patch to it?
