No, they weren't. I have to say aesthetically they were actually quite ugly. I mean they were more or less just 2 concrete monoliths. they were an engineering feat, like the pyramids, but not particularly beautiful, when you compare them to like the Chrysler building or the empire state building.

I didn't, but someone else did. I agree, during the day they were pretty ugly - but at night, lit up & reflecting off the harbor, they were pretty amazing to look at. I'm not sure why pictures of the WTC are not allowed here - what's the deal?

Yup, I think so. Another great building, that is, along with the Pompidou Centre in Paris

Stalinist-gothic architecture, clean and functional.
This is the Lomonosov University, one of the 7 seven buildings of this type in Moscow.

I think Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water looks quite nice. Not that huge and impressive, it rather fits into the landscape

The Lomonsov University looks great too.

I am partial to this huge gothic cathedral in Prague, and the Chateau Frontenac(I am sure I butchered the spelling) in Quebec

As far as more modern style, I like this one building in Down Town Pittsburgh that looks like a castle made of glass.

Oh yeah, the Rotunda in the PA capital of Harrisburg is stunning.
