While Fox news surely isn't something akin to fascism as you said some people say, sticking to Fox News to ignore "political nonsense" is akin to sticking to a politician if you hate lying. Fox News is probably one of the most politicized networks.
I disagree and will continue to disagree with this logic. Get out your fact sheets and wikipedia references if you wish, I'm not going along with this "Fox news is biased" sort of nonsense. Because as far as this "bias" notation goes -- every network on television qualifies, including the BBC. Then who's to say who isn't biased and who is reporting absolute 100% unmodified facts? Who do you really trust for national/international news on every occasion?

If it comes down to that, maybe I don't trust anyone. However, I prefer Fox. Also, I am not ignorant on the subject; therefore I don't desire to repeat the "media bias: facts over fiction" course, thank you very much. :)

Sticking with one news source is a cause for doom. Say that you like Fox News because it is entertaining, or just that you prefer it, but do not say that you watch it becaues it is the least biased. That's a complete and utter mistake, regardless of which source you watch. I don't see the point of this poll at all, really, as it is like saying, to continue my analogy from before, "Who is the most honest politician?" It's not a matter of bitterness here, but a matter of truth. I could pull out whatever facts, and you wouldn't believe me, and you would do the same, so I don't see the point in arguing about tihs, either. What I am saying is that saying that you prefer Fox News because you find it unbiased is just plain wrong. There is no "least biased" news channel at all if you want to talk in political relativity.

BBC isn't unbiased, I've seen too many stories where they unfairly slam North Korea at every opportunity.

Yeah, what raving lunatics for not noting Kim Jong Il's soft and friendly side.

Yeah, that's true, I haven't seen them reporting about Kim Jong Il's frequent trips to the old folks' home to help out.

they actually may have meant it as a joke. but if they did, like corsair said, it isnt a very fun one. they report such pro republican, conservative, right wing "information" thats it disgusting. when michael moore does that except he reports pro demoocrat, kinda liberal, anti bush administration information the republicans slam him for not putting up a fair argument on the republican side

well i heaqr he sleeps with a teddy bear. but its full of bullets so you are right.

I voted for it and it wasnt a joke vote either. If your idea of being balanced is "Michael Moore" well, then your beyond help anyway. Carry on.

Yeah, when it is. But they got into a big legal dispute witht he government, for claiming they had proof the government "sexed up" a dossier on WMD, which the government denied, but was proved wrong.

That was a pretty shabby piece of journalism by the BBC, and indicated that even when they chanced on a big story they didn't know how to verify it and report it properly. They blew it, and blew it big, exactly because they are (and always have been) a news broadcaster which likes to think of itself as being journalists.

Unbiased media do not exist. Even if you tell news as it is, you must select what you tell.
You do indeed have to select what stories are news worthy. But that doesn't equate to bias, but rather allows the possibility of bias. It should mean that judgement and the application of a set of carefully crafted guidelines are applied.

While I rarely watch television news, I listen to NPR (which includes segments of BBC news) quite a bit, and read articles on the internet from numerous sources including CNN, the Washington Post, New York Times and the Raleigh News and Observer. I don't trust any one of them completely, except for the hourly news briefs on NPR which contain little or no commentary. Any time a piece is more than a few sentences it is open to the subtle bias of the reporter, however. Obviously some reporters are more 'trustworthy' than others...

On the topic of FOX news, I find it sensationalist and absurd much of the time, though very well produced. I would never take anything at face value that I saw on that channel until I saw it verified by other sources, so I don't even bother watching it unless I don't have a choice.

I don't claim to know, but one thing's certain: Fox News is most definitely not it, and anyone who thinks so is delusional.

Um, I voted for Fox news and I am thoroughly sick of the Republicans (probably voting Constitution Party in 2008). Look at the scandals at the New Yorks Times, NBC, CBS, etc. Can you point to one substantiated claim of Fox News lying about anything? Have they ever used forged documents to try to alter an election? Have they ever rigged a pick-up truck to explode to show it's dangerous? Have they ever made up stories of massacares?

Delusional? For one thing, I have taken the time to actually view the other american news channels and to me its pretty darn obvious. Fox news also has the highest rating of any of the american news channels as well...are all those people delusional as well?

Your as bad an elitist as Teresa Hines-Kerry when she said that only an idiot would vote for Bush. Attack the person without comparing the news outlets at all.

You think CBS was balanced when it put out the Dan Rather story without checking the validity of the documents in question? Think about why Dan Rather doesnt do the news anymore.

A more correct statement would be that Fox is network which has what people like the most, e.g. it is the most sensationalist, and has what most people want. That isn't a statement of bias by itself - I know many people who watch fox thinking that it is biased, but watch it anyway. To some it is entertainment. If the lack of bias attracted the most people, news wouldn't be interesting at all as it would be so politically correct it would not even be funny.

As well, there are many people who think that Fox News and its pundents are just as bad as the sensasionalist part of the left as well.

because the republicanssaw him as a threat and forced CBS to make him resign.

if you dont think that FOX news lies, i suggest you compare what they say to the truth. then you will see the difference between FOX and the truth. they may not have used forged documents but they did show pro bush and anti kerry programs to change the elections.

Your as bad an elitist as Teresa Hines-Kerry when she said that only an idiot would vote for Bush.

i can agree with her. though not all, about half of bush voters are total idiots in my opinion.

Well, given that, I cant stand it when they cover kidnappings endlessly or that girl missing in Aruba. I flip the channel the instant any of that crap comes on.

I'd say listen to anything from FOX News to Al Jazeera/Al Arabiiya and make up your own mind.

Yup. The hell with "neutral" and non-opinionated. That's just a way to follow someone else's opinions of what's newsworthy - which usually winds up being the opinions of the powerful.

"Gonzo journalism" is redundant. Real journalists call 'em as they see 'em, and then keep looking anyway.
