Yeah, I mentioned a whole lot of countries, but I just didn't feel like typing so much.

"Machiavelli is one of the most applicable thinkers of modern times, as is Ayn Rand."
"I always thought Russia was in Germany."
"Isn't there like some sort of bridge that goes from Florida to Puerto Rico?"
Some dude: "Do you speak Puerto Rican?"
Me: "Yes, I also speak Mexican, Dominican, Cuban, Peruvian, Colombian, and Argentinean."
Some dude: "Wow!"
Is that so far off? I mean, if we went back a measly 1000 years...? However, I doubt that was how he meant it."Aren't poles like catholic russians?"
Wrongalso someone from my class
"Isn't new zealand a state of Australia?"
This is correct.I had to explain to him that it was an Island, then he asked "So it is an island owned by australia?"
Two major ones, many smaller ones. When I look at New Zealand I see more then 1 island...
There is some merit in the claim that Reagan - or rather, Reagan's advisors - defeated the Soviet Union by escalating the arms race. But it was far more a result of Gorbachev's reforms than anything America did, though it is certainly debateable whether the USSR would have had a strong enough economy to survive if it hadn't been trying to match US military expenditures, which Reagan certainly increased.Well, that's debatable. There are historians on both sides of the issue. Ronald Reagan winning vs. Gorbachev losing is still in contention, I think.
