Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Considering Tani's decisions, if let to go unattended, can make games implode on themselves...

I'm not even saying it only happened in one game. Every game he's officially completed since MP1 has imploded due to some incredibly out of control decision that isn't a single one of the players' fault!

Of course I mean no offense to tani, it's just that sometimes his decisions are detrimental to the amount of fun his players have every so often.

OOC: Well Victoria (Ex-formatistan) is shackled to me, so that one isn't so much under tani's control. But as for the others I agree there are concerns about tani playing those considering historical precedent.

I suppose the natural thing would be to have these other nations (where subjugation to me doesn't apply) go to thorvalds management, presumably via a combination of some of those nations splitting into several minor npcs and others staying as they are, but not being in tani's hands :p

NPCs in the first MP1 became superpowers because espionage in that game was hilariously ridiculous. They would build a huge spy force, utterly destroy a country several times over, and use all the stolen wealth to further enlarge that spy force. This vicious cycle made it nearly impossible to top them.

To protect against just that, even with the nerfed espionage rules, I made it so they do not commit black ops unless they've been given good reason to. Indeed. Spies are safest kept at home, since sending them abroad stretches your resources. (This is another reason to employ one of the three NGOs to do your dirty work; yes, I'm using this post to advertise Ailedhood, Celticfury, and Filli Noctus' services)

Currently the most dangerous NPC would be Catalonia, but they're subservient to the GCI barring anything extreme.

When the insurrections occur next turn, Catalonia will become a GCI territory (as Sonereal prescribes), and government Victoria shall be in Katter hands.

There shall thus be only 3 true major NPCs: Louisiana, which is a staunch isolationist and is content to play the lyre while Rome burns; Prussia, a pragmatic, but regionalist, power; and Bengal, a country not too eager to get into a brawl, but standing to advance the cause of human rights around the globe (as Dem Taqat was before his departure).

The MP1 NPCs' main advantage was they knew the mechanics well enough to make the best course of action, which was the very imbalanced espionage. To unbalance espionage at this point in the game would require ENORMOUS sums of cash, that no single player has. It was also possible, due to the way teching in MP was, to neglect certain areas of spending once enough money was in it, due to the sheer size of technologies involved. But now, since every unit if gold can alter the balance of power, it is near suicidal to completely neglect one's army or espionage in favor of economy, or vice versa.

To Hungary
I politely ask you to to stay out of the Italian peninsula. I would also like to talk to you about buying the province or trading a claim for the province you already have there.
-Marcus Iulius Brutus, Consulus Maior de Roma

Vary well, we'll sell Salento to you next turn. I would change my orders now but that would just slow down the game for everybody else so it can wait, also I plan on keeping Albania regardless since Hungary's trade is reliant on the strait being open.

To Hungary
We thank you for your wise decision.
OOC: I don't really care as much about Albania, just the Italian Peninsula (as of now).

Drat. That popcorn's going to go cold now.

Guess I'll have to stir something up in East Asia or something.

Ahem! I mean.

Just Sahara (Nonevah) and East Russia (bestrfcplayer) to go now.

responding soon, just need to get sumopaint to work

Also, is Yuri part of my territory or something, or did someone make a coloring mistake?

Claims are in green.

Lower taxes to 20%.

7.5 into Riccio Corp Ability.
7.5 into Riccio Corp Shares.
60 into Industry.
(If I've made a miscalculation, then still distribute it among the 10/10/80 lines)

Story:

Over the last 5 years, heavy investments in industrial growth in the Djerman Kingdom, the Hasuan Republic, and many of the various citystates have greatly stimulated the economy. As the economic value of the country has catapulted, so has nationalist pride in the Confederacy as a whole. Interest in the arts has soared, making the nation a center of culture. This positive change of events culminated in a groundbreaking deal bringing Psi Corps into the Confederacy. (You know what, I'm just gonna run with that presumable coloring mistake until the GM ruins my fun.) In other news, the council has decided to continue the economic growth, heavily investing in the Riccio Corp (with its industrial might and somewhat similar philosophies) in order to stimulate the economy even further and to try and increase the stock based influence of the nation. The natural lack of regulation and taxation in the Fulani lands has lead to a surge of investment, with natural resource companies looking to take use of those factors in that rich land. Other nations of the Confederacy have dropped taxes in an attempt to get in on the wealth.
(Side note - These are acceptable orders, right? Also, how do you decide how to assign RP bonuses? Furthermore, is there any way to stimulate economy?)

Annnd orders locked. Now that we have everyone...

Now making it possible to claim 2 tiles away from current territories with air wings. :V Air wings can also now be used to transport troops to colonise new coasts.

Also making contracts extend for everyone by default; you can always cancel for a refund of the price the next turn.

So 1 air wing can populate any tile, like an army could, or are they just transports?

Yes, air wings can be used as transports like navies. :V

==Russo-Polish War==

20% of Industry is destroyed, 10% of population.

The USSR launches a surprise assault on the Finno-Poles, citing espionage against them.

Partitionania has 5 armies with which to defend, alongside 4 fleets and 3 air wings.

Unfortunately, all those armies are away colonising the Baltics, leaving the homeland open to assault.

14 Soviet armies roll in unopposed; 3 take neutral territory.

4.428 million Partitionanians are seized, with 400,000 dying.

The 14 Polish territories taken boost the USSR's average Industry rating by 9 points. The Russian economy has surged from 188 billion to 272 billion.

Why am I reminded of the Winter War of 1939?

O.o

Well that was a one-sided curb-stomp if I ever saw one...

Dear USSR,

If you do not cede all captured territory back to Finno-Poland and pay reparations equivelant to 50% of your annual income, then your people will feel the might and wrath of Angolan industrial and military might, along with our allies' hearts of iron.

Angolans do not abandon our allies.
