PAPAL STATES: UN GENERAL SECRETARIAT NOMINATION

-

The Holy Father, in his paternal care for all sentient life that it may be protected from the dangerous ideological errors that caused calamity in the first place and that life may advance in a new era of prosperity and peace, would have the Holy See run for the General Secretariat if the necessary endorsements came the way of the Papal States.

The most holy United Kingdom of Netherlands-Scotland endorses the Papal nomination.

Although we are Communists and Atheists, we endorse the Papal nomination because the Pope, as a holy man, will be better for this job than a politican.

The Holy See thanks the Most Catholic Monarch of the United Kingdom of Scotland and the Netherlands, and the Namibians (despite our other disagreements) for their endorsements, and hopes that this swift sign of confidence from very different political spheres will convince other nations to support the papal states for the General Secretariat.

We have room for 8 candidates.

The ballot now includes the Papal States.

Also, another vote!

What should MP3's subtitle be:

MP3: Rise of the New Order
MP3: Let's Make Some Music

Other suggestions are welcome; I'm trying to gauge ideas really.

It should be:

MP3: A New Order Rises

or alternatively

MP3: Here We Go Again

The Solitude Republic is weary of seeing a theocratic state taking reins in a secular organization. Solitude note that it commits to the values of the separation of church and state and freedom of religion. We're concerned that if the Holy See is made General Secratariate, that they would impose views contrary to the ideas of freedom of religion and the separation of church and state onto other secular nations.

The Holy See notes that such fears are completely lacking in historical precendent to justify them, considering the Holy See has never before taken up any General Secretariat position in any iteration of the United Nations. (incidentally we correct the Republic, the UN is neither secular or religious, rather it is an international institution and is thus not defined by any one ideology, religion or philosophical view) Furthermore these accusations are made without any substance, not a shred, to support these offensive allegations as to the intent of the Holy See and simply constitute fearmongering and incitement against the Holy See.

This in itself is unfortunate considering the progress in peaceful relations between differing positions that has been made recently with the Holy See at the forefront of such trends, we note for example that an atheist, communist state has given its endorsement to the Holy See for the General Secretariat. Such support from a state who's position is inimically opposed by the Holy See for obvious reasons clearly shows universal wide-ranging support for a papal general secretariat, based on the Holy Sees historical role as a defender against tyranny, promotor of moral values, and upright member of the international community. It also shows that even the most irreligious of states do not fear some papal imposition of universal theocracy as the Republic seems to be accusing the Papal States of intending.

Considering this, we can only presume that the Solitude Republic is making its offensive accusations against us on the basis that they would see their domestic political structure, which the Holy See by no means opposes, imposed on all the nations of the world. This is an unfortunate mentality and we are dissapointed that a tendency has already reared its head to sow discord between nations by those unscrupulous ideologues who see tolerance of other nations cultures and traditions as inimical to their particular agendas.

The Big Five do not know what this United Nations is. :mischief:

In all seriousness, Solitude could always put itself forth as a candidate as well. It just needs to get two endorsements to be on the ballot come the election.

No where did the Solitude Republic made any offensive accusations to the Holy See. We only listed our concerns about a theocratic state taking reigns, that in our view, of an organization that has no tappings in Religion. We are aware that you had a Communust and Atheistic state endorcing the Holy See. Your presumptions are completely way off and looked too much into our own reservations.

support for a papal general secretariat, based on the Holy Sees historical role as a defender against tyranny, promotor of moral values, and upright member of the international community.

Based on what? If its based on the Christian Catholic doctrine, then it goes completely against secular and socially liberal leaning states. With inquisitions in the history, we question the phrase "defender against tyranny".

One would have to question the intentions of Solitarian candidature in light of its obvious attempts to sow divisions between nations with utterly baseless accusations, and superpose its own domestic (and otherwise legitimate) ideological position in an international organisation irrespective of the diversity of cultures and political forms in the world community of states.

stating your "concerns" right after a direct statement that your "weary" of theocratic, which we can only presume to mean religious, states taking leadership roles in international institutions. This context can only be interpreted as a direct statement of opposition to the Papal States candidature, and especially considering your latest statements regarding our nations religious beliefs, as indicitive of latent anti-christian sentiment in general, and anti-catholic sentiment in particular (as noted by your implicit reference to the old black-legends of anti-catholics past) and of an internationalist agenda to impose your own states liberal views on the entire international community as if they were normative for all nations, cultures and societies.

Incidentally as an aside, we point out the moral values of Catholic christianity of charity, love of neighbour, and care for the poor. Apparently these universally apparent aspects of christian thought are unknown in New England. Although I suppose thats not surprising considering that North America has often been a hot-bed of anti-Catholic sentiment. That said you are free to live by your liberalism, but it is exceedingly arrogant to question the intentions of other nations just because they hold different ideologies or positions and have different cultures than yours. God be with you.

Solitude Republic - UN GENERAL SECRETARIAT NOMINATION

President Hanna Antilles has meet with the Secretary of State and the House and Senate to discuss upon placing itself on the General Secretariat nomination ballot. After hearing word that the Holy See took "offense" to the Republic's own reservation on having a theocrat on the reigns of the UN. The Congress of Solitude have approved Hanna's motion to place themselves on the nomination ticket.

Running on the basis of freedom and the Rule of Law, not in theocracy. Solitude places itself on the ticket for General Secratariate.

The Democratic Republic of Tropico - UN GENERAL SECRETARIAT NOMINATION

After seeing candidates run on the position of theocracy and democracy El Presidente decided to run for the great dictators.

Vote El Presidente if you don't want someone looking into everything you do!

The Holy See applauds the standing for candidature of both Tropico and Solitude, despite the latters hostile rhetoric towards the Holy See since the Holy See emphatically believes in the right of all states to express their opinions and partake equally in the international community.

As long as they are not heritics right? XD

heresy is a religious matter, not a political and diplomatic one.

The Jung Dynasty supports the Holy See in their bid for the position of UN Secretariat.

As Catholicism's primary representative in East Asia, we would advise His Holiness to avoid insulting our neighbors in Japan, the Shimazu Clan, and remind them that the Republic of Solitude is primarily centered in New York & New England.

ooc: corrected the mistake. Its almost reflex to assume Civgeneral is in Japan :p

The Solitude Republics reminds the Holy See that anti-Christianity and anti-Catholism is not a social policy of the Republic. We only criticized the history of the state, not the religion itself.

The anti-catholic attitudes of the old United States does not carry over into the Solitude Republic. We find it offensive that the Holy See would wrongly assume that we're anti-Catholic.
