Amusingly, it was all done in the name of economic imperialism and the fact that Cape Verde presented a good enemy to rally against only helped sped things along.
We are merely asserting that the African Union has no business meddling in the affairs of the North African states. The only threat we see is that to the political identity of these nations thus we would not like to see them fall under the influence of the blanket alliance.
Egypt does not consider itself opposed to the African Union in principle, but not supportive either; regardless it is open to signing a defensive alliance between itself and Bosnia.
Would Egypt be against a defensive alliance between itself and the Congo? We protected Ashanti in the past from Imperialistic invasions and even removed the threat completely; we would happily do the same for our other African brothers.

Egypt has close ties to multiple countries at this juncture; its position as holder of the Suez Canal also leaves it in a delicate diplomatic stance. The NAPR is firmly in the Bosnian camp; to avoid alienating any particular party we are afraid we cannot accept entry into such an alliance at this present time. We are however, open to continued good relations and a defensive pact between Egypt and Bosnia alone, rather than between Egypt and an entire organisation.

I will be going on vacation starting this wednesday and ending a week from today (next sunday). I won't have internet access during that time, and I will probably miss at least one orders lock. It is now possible to transfer espionage from one country to another. As a large part of your espionage investment is skills relevant to that country, you will lose 75% of the espionage in that country if you transfer it to another. That is, if you take 100 from the Marian Republic and put it into the Empire of the Rising Sun, you will only get 25 in the Empire.
Ailedhoo, Christos, and Ravus Sol, I will send you your incomes shortly.
The following nations will be dissolved at the turn’s end if I receive no orders or some other sign of participation (such as in the UN or diplomacy in the thread):

Angela Leigh of Tayloristan has handed the Secretarial sash to Mikhail Smirnov of Arstotkza. Smirnov is responsible for filling two seats during his tenure.
News
Angela Leigh has failed to fill Sergio Santana’s ICJ seat; the motion to replace them with the 501st’s Tarlisc Nieekar died as a result of a tie. There is great animosity in the 501st towards the Syndicalist and Congolese governments due to their abstaining rather than helping the process along. Tayloristani citizens in particular are upset the Congolese did not throw their support behind the country.
Compounding the loss of Santa is the retirement of Nikita Bogomolov, who feels his failing health will be of no service to the Union. He has retired after a long life serving both Union and Ryazani interest.
SLAVERS, Inc. has set itself up as a major player in the international slave trade. Those eager to partake in their goods and services may inquire at their offices for discussing the sale of slaves.

War Zones
Spoiler:
Siberian Civil War. Tayloristani and Horde forces carried the day these last two years, the latter inflicting massive losses on minor factions. The 501st, Horde, Azerbaijan, and America now carry the largest stakes in the country.
Mongol Civil War. 501st and Sino-Japanese forces have seen a string of terrorist attacks against their bases. The bombings have also wiped out all the outlying factions; only the three contenders of China-Japan, the Horde, and 501st remain. Of greater importance, however, was the blitzkrieg the Sino-Japanese, backed by UN peacekeepers from countries such as Argentina, pulled off against enemy forces. Mongolia is effectively reunified, the Sino-Japanese forces having crushed any semblance of resistance from the Mongolian Horde or Mongolian Legion, while also steamrolling any outsiders such as the Azeri Mongols. The Mongolian Republic has become the Mongolian Kingdom, which has conferred constitutional monarch status upon the Sino-Japanese monarchy.
North America
Spoiler:
Pro-Syndicalist Sentiment. A surprising number of Panamanian citizens have turned out to demonstrate in favor of closer ties with the Combined Syndicates, the “vanquishers of the untrustworthy.” (+100 Influence)
The Great Rich North. Canada’s seen a lot of resources discovered; the Syndicalists must be peeved. (+3 Resource)
Great relations! (+50 Argentine influence in Puerto Rico)
Discontent in New America. Some citizens are still not happy with the government, though they are at most a vocal minority; those in the occupation zones and the former Molemen slaves are among the most vocal critics of the government. (-2 Satisfaction)
Labor Ennobles. The Syndicalists have seen several new resource deposits pop up as a result of processing refugees’ stories. (+1 Resource)
Bleeding Pennsylvania. It seems a fair number of Syndicalist loyalists have stayed behind and have blended in among the pro-American populace in the region. (-4,000 Syndicalists; -2,000 New Americans)
Racial Violence in New America. Several hundred mole men have been killed in a string of crimes across new America; Ravusian leaders have decried the non-humans as Xenoscum. Evidence points towards the molemen having been working with Spartacus and Goon members.
South America
Spoiler:
Anti-Crimson Riots. A fair number of Amazonian citizens have taken to the streets and torched Crimson-associated properties. (-125 Inf)

Let’s Not Start a Riot. Some civilians threw rocks at Syndicalist soldiers in Peru; in an amazing show of restraint no shots were fired and non-lethal force was used by Peruvian authorities to subdue the protestors. The Peruvian government has expressed its thanks to the Syndicates for having such well-disciplined men and women. (+50 influence)
Europe
Spoiler:
United France Gaining Power in Brittany. The United France bloc of parties is reported to have doubled its seats from 15% of Parliament to 30%. Brittany has declared a willingness to sign an economic alliance and exclusive investment agreement.
Anti-Americanism. (-50 Influence in Lusitania)
Budding Economic Superpower. Arstotzka’s education system and pure luck have led to a discovery of new resources they can tap, surging the country to first place in economic rankings. (+2 Resource)
Volgograd’s Fortune. (+3 Resources)
Balkan Baby Boom. Apparently the result of lessened conflict, the Bosnian state has seen a massive surge in births. (+5% pop)
Old Hummels Die Hard. Bavaria has seen a massive boom in population growth due to Bienen customs lingering. (+10% population)
Violence in Burgundy! A mixture of democratic and nationalist protestors took to the streets in Burgundy, particularly in counties that were experiencing heavy American military presence. Crying “Yankees go home!” they pelted the soldiers with rocks and some even fired at them with contraband weapons; peaceful protestors were likewise scaling fences or trying to organize sit-ins at American military bases. The tragedy has led to 400 dead American soldiers and 2,000 dead Burgundians. There is naturally a great deal of debate over how to approach the issue; while the Americans only were defending themselves, many Burgundians are nonetheless lobbying the government to reduce the American garrison; given the government’s fascist leanings, it is unlikely such lobbying will be of any use.
Hate Crimes in Lusitania. Arson and murder have been directed at those associated with foreigners, except Occitans, much to many’s puzzlement. America bore the brunt of the damage, with the Leth, Bosnians and English suffering smaller blows.
Exposed! Some Al-Qaeda operatives have been arrested in Ryazan.
New Resource! Komi has seen a massive amount of precious materials show up within itself. (+3 Resource)
French Empire declared! The Burgundian President has declared himself Emperor of France, reshuffled his government, moved the center of government east of Paris, and has declared intentions of stronger relations with New America.
Africa
Spoiler:
Failed Coup in Libya. A coup attempt to try and impose a military dictatorship has failed horribly. Several Al-Qaeda operatives were rounded up in the process. The Libyan Security Agency has beefed up its measures to prevent a coup in the future.
Asia
Spoiler:
Infestation! An infestation of Mongolian deathworms has killed 5,000 people in the 501st Legion; containment protocols were quick to rein in the infestation before it could reach critical levels.
INTERPOL Vigilance. Al-Qaeda forces have been exposed by INTERPOL in Brazil and Colombia. More important was the decimation of Goon Squad forces in the country. Several Goons have also been turned over to Argentine authorities.

Spoiled Leftovers. A large amount of Golden Horde-aligned militants have been rooted out in the 501st Legion, securing it from outside attack.
Oceania
Spoiler:
Exposed! Some Spartacus, Goon, and Al-Qaeda operatives have all been uncovered in Eastralia.
Failed Coup in Tasmania. Militants tried to take control of the Parliament and Executive Buildings; the plot was foiled with minimal civilian casualties. Humanity First operatives are believed to have been responsible, but it is not known to what extent they may have clout in the country.
Slaves Take Sulawesi! A massive revolt of people who were destined to be enslaved and their supporters has taken control of the Sulawesi capitol. Sympathizers have likewise taken control of several key civilian and military posts throughout the country, swiftly purging the country of the most vocal slavery advocates. Several plantations have been repossessed and their owners either arrested or summarily executed. The King has been tried and guillotined in the orgy of victory, the monarchy being replaced with a democratic republic with a heavy penchant for affirmative action. Affiliation with Spartacus was automatically legalized within days of the coup turned revolution; of greater importance was the freezing of assets and embargoing of several nations: Iceland-Norway, Golden Horde, Magocracy of Antioch, and New America. Their clients and all states participating in the slave trade have likewise suffered a massive freezing, reporession of assets and embargoing. Oddly the Crimson Court was not targeted despite their hand in having establishes slavery around the world.
You can send orders in both actual numbers, or as percentages of your budget. If you don’t like micromanagement you can appoint a Prime Minister; I will manage your budget for you in accordance with whatever goal you have. Just make sure to tell me what you’re aiming for!
Recommendations:
-Espionage is a good tool to rein in NGOs. NGOs derive their income from their percentage of a host country’s total espionage value, similar to how countries earn client income. A good way to bury them is to invest in espionage in a country; even if you don’t root them out through counterintel you can still hurt them greatly in this manner.
-There’s a “profitability” measure on the Influence sheet. The higher the number, the more cost-effective it is to invest in that country. You will notice the most active investors are also the richest nations…
-Participate in the UN. Even abstention votes will still generate some influence points; proposing resolutions and succeeding in getting them passed net the most points.
-It is a good idea to sign Exclusive Investment Agreements with your clients to keep competition out.
-Stay neutral. Neutral states don’t have to worry about things getting blown up, and a lot of events are biased towards peaceful countries.
-There are increasing theories that fission may have been a source of great power in the past. With enough education or military spending perhaps such theories could be looked into…
-Invest espionage in countries you have influence in; this will help keep you safe from predatory attempts to purge your influence.
Nothing interesting ever happens in the Roman Empire... the Emperor is tired of the Empire being uneventful. give me a major earthquake, or a huge oil reserve, that can shake things up...
