That's good for you and Ron Paul, AA. However, alliances are inherently a part of this game, ergo, isolationism has no place.

..unless you wanna get eaten but okay.

Generally NPCs don't judge based on your stated foreign policy. They will instead look based on what you do, particular to countries similar to them, or them themselves. If you're non-interventionist but are toppling all the governments of Europe, they likely will hate you, unless they hated all the regimes in Europe. Your words are powerful, but actions speak even louder.

Umm, actually. The Republic of Coruscant has No state religion. How would multilingual states fare since I'm not the only one who listed more than one languages.

Yes, religion generally refers to whatever the most influential of faiths in your nation is. To make things more epic, if someone answered Christian or Islamic, I broke them into one of the subdivisions.

In your last game, pretty much every minor NPC was isolationist.

Would an NPC becoming a client state be equivalent to becoming a protectorate of the NPC in question? Since I'm starting to envision that Hanna's foreign policy would be a mama bear relationship to the NPC nations once the condition's have been met.

The Coronation of King Gregory Alastair:

Spoiler :
Gregory and Rachel walked out into the Council Chamber, side by side. They held hands, never wavering in their destination or purpose. The Lords were confused, some even scandalized – had the new King impregnated the daughter of the Duke Lana’i, they wondered? Or was there something even stranger at work that would bring them to walk together?

Their love was common knowledge, but the abruptness of their public affection caught many off-guard. The people outside, watching in precious televisions and listening on radios, were shocked as well. Swiftly, all conversation in the Council Chamber died, all eyes upon Gregory and Rachel.

Gregory didn’t care about them. All that mattered to him was the beautiful woman pressed to his side, practically tied there. Her pale green dress fluttered along the floor, caught on his shoe for just a second every other step. Gregory’s world had condensed, and not even the loss of his father could change that. He knew the pain would come later – years later – but for now, he had Rachel Lana’i as his own. And that was enough.

She parted from him at some point – he didn’t remember when – to rejoin her father. The Duke was smiling, shot Gregory a wink. He would be a good adviser, and a trustworthy confidant, just as he had been for Gregory’s own father.

The new King crossed the chamber alone, still sensing Rachel beside him – as though she willed herself to march with him, to strengthen his resolve. Slowly, he approached the Duke Oahu, senior noble of the Kingdom.

Oahu regarded Gregory inscrutably for a moment, then raised a book in his hands. It was an old book – perhaps as old as the Cataclysm. It was filled with maps – maps, and listings of strange, faraway places. All listed as part of the Unitedsmen’s own Empire. It was a very old book, though, and many things were missing. There was no Arizona in it, though there were references to such a place. Perhaps it was like the Heaven of the Christ-men?

Oahu held out the book, smiling slightly at Gregory.

“Gregory Alastair,” he said calmly, his powerful voice resonating through the Council Chamber. “Are you fit for duty as King of Hawai’i?”

“Ae,” Gregory responded, the Hawai’ian affirmative racing from his tongue. He knew what would be said – it was the Dukes, the audience, who would not know until the end.

“Are you of sound mind, of stout heart, of unflinching resolve, and of compassionate love?” Oahu asked.

“Ae,” Gregory repeated, never once blinking or breaking eye contact with Oahu.

“Upon what do you swear these?” Oahu asked. Gregory hesitated, then dedicated resolution passed through him – the time for dancing was done.

“I swear my mind upon the books of the Unitedsmen,” he declared. There were nods – it was formal, expected.

“I swear my heart upon Hawai’i, upon the people I am charged to protect.”

More nods. He was following a script, now – every king had said these words.

“I swear my resolve upon the sea, which I never have feared and love as my mother,” Gregory continued. The dukes were smiling – he was still traditional. There was only one more response to give.

“I swear my love upon Rachel Lana’i, my queen in Honolulu Palace.”

There was an utter silence for a moment, while the nobles digested the sudden break from tradition. Then Oahu let out a single laugh, and Rachel smiled broadly. Gregory felt the tension deep inside him ease at the sight.

“Repeat after me, Gregory Alastair,” Oahu declared. “Upon my life or death, upon my immortal soul, by my faiths, by the Unitedsmen, by history, by my father, and by every man, woman and child in Hawai’i, I will give my all for this land, never to see it suffer or wither. If I should fail in this task, then the Sea will claim me for her own. I do so swear.”

Oahu passed the book to a servant, who swiftly wrapped it in cloth. Oahu accepted from this servant the Crown of State, raised it for all to see. Gregory dropped to one knee, bowed his head.

The crown was placed on his head first, but then he felt the touch of a cold steel sword on his shoulder. He waited as it lifted, then touched his other shoulder, before finally vanishing.

“Rise, King Gregory the First of Hawai’i!” Oahu commanded. Gregory came to his feet, a wave of applause and cheers surging around him. He bowed to Oahu, turned and did the same to the crowd. Finally, he stood tall, waiting for the clapping to die down.

It was nearly five minutes before the crowd finally became peaceful again, sensing the King was about to speak. Gregory cleared his throat, mentally reviewed his notes – then raised his voice and began to speak.

Coronation Speech:

“Brothers and sisters of Hawai’i, I bid you thanks for accepting me as your King. In addition to the oaths I have sworn, I now pledge another to you – Hawai’i will be greater than ever before under my rule. We will spread across the Great Pacific Islands to the faraway lands of Indonesia, and establish a presence there. We will grow our borders and become the world’s strongest island kingdom. We will build a strong navy, and a great army that will establish us as Earth’s greatest land. This is a new era of prosperity for Hawai’i, and I intend to take that era and seize it! Then turn it into a true golden age! This I swear to you upon my honor, upon my blood! By the faith you have placed in me, people of Hawai’i, I pledge that this nation shall forevermore be the jewel of Earth!”

So may as well throw this out there.

A city system like Fiat Lux. Yay or nay?

Basically, your industry and population will be concentrated in cities, but they and surrounding provinces(think suburbs) also be much more defensible, likely having a +10% bonus right off the bat. (Which means that you'll actually have +20% once the standard defender bonus is factored in)

Sure, wynaught?

Yes, you would - your capital would be your first - and most important - city, of course.

Suburbs would likely be whatever's next to it, so a capital in the center of Hawai'i would be the best as it'd get at least 2 islands protected as well. Even moreso if I add an amphibious penalty, making them rather fortified!

...speaking of. Should I add a penalty for amphibious invasions? Likely 5 or 10%.
