My Chemical Romance - Mama; is it about the Iraq War?

I always thought punk was the same as rock?:hmm:

no no no no no.

rock has been around since the 50s.

punk is basically rock with a political message and played faster and usually doesnt require much technical skill.

i could go on but it would require more digression from the topic at hand ;)

See I'm glad you started the thread with that, so I could know right away I can stop reading.
Queue Eph Tea.

And, MCR are not, in any way, shape, or form, punk. (a) Punk doesn't have to be political. How many political songs are there on Rocket to Russia? I didn't think so. And (b) MCR are emo...

Don't know about that song, but I've seen them opening for another band early last year and they are terrible. The worst kind of fake-ass pop group pretending to be dark. Bad bad bad bad bad bad.

He said this and got me thinking: are The Ramones being political? Does Joan Jett have some underlying motive?

1. Who cares what genre they are?
2. MCR is an absolutely fantastic band. If you think otherwise, you have the musical appreciation of a banana slug.
3. The art of interpreting a song: Commie did a pretty good job here. Maybe MCR is conservative, I haven't heard that myself. Anyway, doesn't matter. Music interpretation is about what the listener thinks, what the song means to the listener. So this seems fine to me, although I never would have interpreted it that way, and maybe the band wouldn't have either.

1) Yeah, genres have been so intertwined and BSed up that it doesn't even matter anymore.
2) Yep.
3) Thanks for that. I don't think they are conservative, why would they make a song that was against war? BTW I really wanna hear your enterpretation. :)

I've never heard of them. If you'll let me know the next time they'll be performing at the Grand Ol' Opry, I'll be sure to tune in and give a listen.

1) No-one cares because everyone knows what genre they belong to... the genre of pony or toilet or whatever other word you want to describe bad.
2) Well that is a highly irresponsible thing to say unless you're trying to say that a banana slug is a connoisseur of music!
3) The art of interpreting a song: Anyone is fantastic because a song means something different to everyone.....
